MoreCore Ruleset (Version 1.46 20180915). This ruleset adds features and flexibility to CoreRPG allowing you to play more game systems. The group arrives at the Sleeping Badger Inn.
There they have been instructed by Captain Estarcus to investigate the murder of mercenary captain Jehannus. They have been told to tell the barman, Aldus, that Estarcus sent them and he will return the coppers he owns soon.
Slumbara trundles into the bar and orders a leg of lamb and 3 horns of mead
Slumbara: Slumbara is hungry
Slumbara: We cannot work on empty stomachs
Also, they have been "exiled" from the city for Volmalric's "crimes against humanity" (blah blah blah, unsubstantiated), and this will get them out of the city.
Aldus gets Slumbara his food, expects payment.
Meltam Perandus Casually walks up to the bar
Meltam Perandus: Society 4EXP/4FOC Successes = 3 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 14]
Volmalric enters and sits beside Meltam
Slumbara pays Aldus
Slumbara: Friend, are you the one called Aldus?
Slumbara: The guard captain with a long name wanted me to find you
Slumbara: Something about murder, I wasn't really listening
Slumbara: Did you do the murder?
Aldus: No, I work here.
Slumbara eats his leg of lamb and drinks his mead
Aldus: I'm the barman, why would I possibly kill a paying customer?
Slumbara: What about a customer that didn't pay?

Aldus looks at Slumbara.
Slumbara: Slumbara is an excellent investigator
Aldus: How do I know you didn't kill him and you are trying to spread the blame around?
Slumbara: I have an ironclad alibi, I killed a city guard in front of dozens of witnesses
Volmalric orders a mead and enjoys the show
Slumbara: I couldn't possibly have been killing anyone in your bar
Aldus: I doubt that, since you'd be in jail. You kind of stick out here.

Aldus: Aldus shrugs and seems indifferent to your conversation. He tells you, "Yeah, Guto and Arqiite killed him, plenty of people saw the murder just outside the bar."
Slumbara: Why didn't you tell Slumbara before? Were you lying to protect...
Slumbara leaps across the room grabbing two seemingly random men by their collars
Slumbara: obviosly those two
Slumbara: YOUR CONSPIRATORS?!?!
Slumbara and Volmalric notice the bar is not very busy this time of day, with perhaps another 10 customers and a few employees. They all seem very non-threatening to Volmarlic.
Slumbara: Brawn - 10 Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 13]
Slumbara Smiles broadly, looking quite proud of himself
Volmalric whips around in surprise as his ally attacks a couple in the bar
Volmalric: Slumbara?! What's this?

Slumbara: These two look suspicious
Slumbara holds up his quarry as if to illustrative how suspicious they look
Volmalric: But you weren't even facing that way until just now, what did they do?
Volmalric looks suspiciously at the men
Slumbara: They were trying to sneak out of the bar looking fearfully at Slumbara
Slumbara: Obviously they fear that Slumbara will get to the truth with brilliant detective work

Peasant 2 wets himself in terror of being eaten by the Darfari Cannibal that has grabbed him.
Peasant 2 is entirely convinced Slumbara is a Darfari Cannibal.
Volmalric: Hmmm, they don't sound like murderers to me
Peasant 2: I'm vegetarian! I can't even eat meat other people have killed!
Peasant 1 looks at Peasant 2 in disgust.

Volmalric shakes his head

Peasant 1: I'm about at the "kill me" stage because I feel horrible even knowing a vegetarian.
Volmalric: I'd think that any murder with his salt would be able to make up a better lie than that

Aldus: Arqiite was a handsome man, women liked him. He looked like a dandified sop, but could fight well. I've heard he cheated at cards and not many felt he was trustworthy. Guto was a jackass, no one liked him, but he hung out with Arqiite all the time. Not sure why Arqiite put up with him.
Volmalric: Mmm, did they live around here?
Aldus: Not that I know of.
Slumbara leads Meltam Perandus back to the bar by his collar

Slumbara tackles Meltam and arrests him, then drags him back to the bar

Slumbara: Meltam confessed to me that he conspired with a Kushite tiki to doom a mini demon or something

Aldus looks at Slumbara, looks back at Volmalric.
Slumbara leaves Meltam Perandus with Volmalric and plops into a seat by the fire, looking very satisfied
Volmalric drinks much more than just a sip of his mead
Aldus (whispers to Volmalric): You need me to put some sedatives in his alcohol to help with whatever he's got?
Aldus gestures at Slumbara.
Meltam Perandus: Hey Aldus, if you wanted to track those two goons down, who in town would specialize in that?
Volmalric (whispers to Aldus): Drugs don't seem to work on him, but thank you for the offer

Feneril (Slumbara): afk one sec
Aldus: Well normally I'd say Hauk, but I guess he died recently.

Aldus gestures at Meltalm.

Ruffian 1 shoves open door to bar and steps in.

Ruffian 1: Ah ha! There they are! The goat-fornicating Volmalric, bastard son of a drooling moron, and his lackeys are here terrorizing the peasants.
Slumbara: I'll have you know I haven't terrorized any peasants in minutes
Ruffian 1: It is up to my men and I to deal with these filthy abominations who have been exiled from Velitrium!
Slumbara laughs

Volmalric heals the Ruffian's injury. The man grins and grabs Volmalric's shoulder, then promptly jabs a knife into his stomach, causing Volmalric intense pain from the poisoned dagger.

The poison appears to be nothing more than some blade oil, and causes no permanent discomfort.
Ruffian leaves, thinking he has successfully poisoned Volmalric.
Slumbara picks up a table and throws it at Ruffian

The people Meltalm is chasing have left to consider a new life, and are not interested in fighting.
Ruffian gets hit by the table, which undoes the healing Volmalric performed, killing the man.

Innocent Bystanders: Wow, That Volmalric is amazing, he tried to heal the man who wanted to kill him, and his loyal bodyguard then used drastic amounts of overkill on the injured man. We will have to tell all of our friends about this.
