Savage Worlds Ruleset for Fantasy Grounds II
(c) 2009 Pinnacle Entertainment Group.
The barge docks at the small fishing village of Nihana. It is a quaint little town, population 750. Seated on a high hill above the rest of the fishing wharfs and rice paddies is a large and expansive building with a sign that reads, "Sleeping Loon Academy." It is quite impressive in its visual magnificence, which Satsuki is at a loss to explain to Blind Ikuko.
Everyone trundles off the ship, livestock, servants, gear, etc. are unloaded. Botan looks quite pleased that he has reached the end of this journey.
TADM: (Since Mike is out for a bit)
Hida Sashimi: *huff huff* Glad...I caught up...with you guys.
Kazuki gets distracted helping Megumi with all the dirty laundry.
Botan: Hida-sama! It is good you are here.
Botan: I was worried something bad happened...after...
Botan shudders.
Ikuko: It is best not to dwell on such things, it is good that you are unharmed Hida
Kuutai wanders off to get "some things."
Kazemi (Kazuki): AHA back bfore my MIA tag went off the screen
Hida Sashimi: I'm not quite sure of the details, but I truly do apologize for that. It was poor judgement on my part. I am glad to see you are unharmed
Kazuki sets Kuutai on fire
Kuutai likes it.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Curiously enough, Chiri is not on the barge or disembarking with everyone else. One of the sailors mentions something about her, "walking off the ship a while ago" but he is not sure of much past that.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Wait, is that "walking off" occuring before we docked?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Perhaps they were trying to use the dunk test for witches
Sailor scratches chin.
Sailor: Come to think of it...she walked off before we docked...
Kazuki: Where did she walk off to....
Kazuki: WHY DIDN'T YOU FOLLOW HER
Sailor shrugs and resumes unloading Ikuko's stuff.
Kazuki: Oh, well
Kazuki: Oooh, the Sleeping Loon, den of all sorts of evil and villainy
Kazuki: I've heard a lot about that
Ikuko: I'm sure you've yearned to visit your whole life
Shortly before everything is unloaded, an elderly man with a snow-white beard that extends almost to the ground and a stoop in his shoulders walks up to the group. For those of you who can see him, you notice that for someone who looks so ancient, there is a spryness in his step and a hard glint in his eyes.
Elder Tie: Greetings and welcome to Nihana, I am Elder Tie.
Botan: Great uncle!
Botan runs over and hugs Elder Tie.
Elder Tie: Botan!
Kazuki: Nice beard
Elder Tie looks at Kazuki.
Kazuki bows
Elder Tie: Thank you, should you reach 80, I am sure yours will look nice also.
Hida Sashimi bows
Ikuko: It is good to finally arrive Elder Tie, it has been a long journey
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
Hida Sashimi: Common Knowldge [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Ikuko bows courteously
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+9 = 25]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I like this guy
Satsuki bows to Elder Tie.
Satsuki: Sir, may I present her ladyship, Gyoshen Ikuko of Tetsu Sangaku.
Satsuki gestures to Ikuko.
Elder Tie bows to Ikuko.
[w] -> Hida Sashimi: Find yon local contact (streetwise roll)
Hida Sashimi: Streetwise {+2 Merchant (Buy/Sell)} [1d8+2 = 8]
Elder Tie: Hmm...you have your mother's smile and your grandmother's eyes. From what I hear, you also have your father's wit. The best of all worlds I would say.
Kuutai wanders back after getting some "things."
Elder Tie: But what brings you and Botan to Nihana? It is not a short journey.
Kazemi (Kazuki): is he covered in blood?
Botan: Mom's dead!
Botan starts crying.
Kazuki flinches
Kuutai chuckles
TADM: Only if Q decides that Kuutai should be covered in blood.
Ikuko: Perhaps it would be better to discuss the details in private
Hida Sashimi looks down respectfully
Quorteth (Kuutai): I mean, theoretically, I got a free color change of my rags after last weeks brutal witch hunt...I mean Kappa Battle
Kuutai: I hear there is a Library......
Elder Tie: Ah yes, that would be best. Come up to the Academy. You shall be quite safe there
Elder Tie: And there is a library.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Not exactly my first choice for a night kappa
Ikuko: Of course, Satsumi, see to our things. Come Botan.
TADM: No, those are black, these were red.
Elder Tie scoops up Botan with one arm in a quick fluid motion and deposits him on his shoulder almost faster than Kazuki can blink.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): night cap. late night drink...oh n/m *pouts*
Elder Tie heads back towards the Sleeping Loon Academy.
Kuutai: Patiently follows and obeys....for now
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -3) [1d10-3 = 2]
Hida Sashimi follows
Ikuko follows elder Tie.
Elder Tie: Healing [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki follows, sightseeing along the way
Kuutai: Tell me...what do they....study at this....academy?
Elder Tie: Various arts, those mundane and mystical.
Elder Tie: If you are interested in enrolling, you should check with the Headmaster, Daimyo Shimizu Daichi.
Daichi: No relation.
Elder Tie: Those arts which made fine samurai and court onmyouji in the old days.
Ikuko: I think Kuutai would find it difficult to learn and take orders from others
Ikuko: It is hard enough to keep him from using his hostile magics on us
Kazuki: I...I can't even imagine a court with Kuutai in it...
Daichi heads off to do other "things" as he is quite certain that Ikuko is safe here.
Elder Tie leads the group up to the Sleeping Loon Academy. Along the way everyone you pass gives him the full prostrate bow, which he waves off and carries on, as he proceeds to give you a narrative of everything of interest in Nihana, from the local sake dens, to which blacksmith is better for farm implements, and which weaver makes the best sails.
GM: Once you reach the Sleeping Loon Academy, he gestures to a couple students.
Elder Tie: These are honored guests, put them in the guest wing and have the servants see to any needs they may have.
Elder Tie turns back to the group.
Elder Tie: I will speak with Botan for a bit, but I ask you all to join me for dinner, at say, the seventeenth hour.
Ikuko: Of course, we will attend.
Kazuki: Of course
Elder Tie carries Botan off further into the Academy without another word.
Kuutai: Sure Thing......Elder....
Botan waves good bye to everyone.
Kazuki waves back
GM: Okay, the group has nine hours in which to perform shenanigans.
Kazuki: I'm going to go explore!
Ikuko: You should all pay a visit to Tomoko and Nanami before our dinner with Tie
Kuutai: Hida...I bet the larder is full here, perhaps you should fix that?
Ikuko: You could all benefit from a bath before dining with such a distinguished host
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d6+9 = 19]
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 4]
Kazuki: Eh, sure
Kuutai: A bath? ....I suppose...
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 7]
Hida Sashimi: Smarts [1d6 = 7]
Elder Tie: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d8+2 = 11]
Kazuki heads off through the hallways
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Hida Sashimi: A bath would be nice.
Ikuko is led off towards their rooms by Satsuki.
Hida Sashimi goes to bathe
Kuutai: Pupil! You will show me where the place of de-lousing is.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 19]
GM: Hida and Kuutai are led to the bathing area.
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 23]
Kazemi (Kazuki): ROFLROFLROFLROFLROFLRLFGLI
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+8 = 14]
Hida Sashimi keeps an eye on Kuutai, making sure it doesn't prepare explosive runes
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 11]
Kazuki: Hida Sashimi does not see Kazuki
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 19]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kuutai: What inviting waters...Can I be shown to the apothecary next?
GM: Kuutai is taken to an apothecary.
Hida Sashimi has been awarded a benny
TADM: Sigh. That pun was bad enough I am sadly forced to give him a benny.
Hida Sashimi: Ahhh. What a refreshing bath.
Captain Ahab-San harpoons Hida.
Captain Ahab-San: I got you! Damn white whale!
Hida Sashimi cleans up the spilled water and dresses without prying eyes. Even guests need to bee respectful
Kazemi (Kazuki): ROFL
Quorteth (Kuutai): Foolish captain! The Whale was you all along! Whahahah
Hida Sashimi: Wrong story, Ahab. Go find your buddy Ishmael.
Kuutai: Apothecary, Have you something for turtle attacks? Really Really big turtles? And Berzerk Samurai?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
GM: The Apothecary offers Kuutai some herbal remedies that read, "Must be injested within 1 hour of being clawed by angry kappa"
Kazemi (Kazuki): Too bad all the damage was caused by non-turtle samurai
GM: The Apothecary also suggest that the best way to avoid berserk Samurai is to explode them with magic before they get close.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kazemi (Kazuki): I like this apothecary
Kazemi (Kazuki): We should take him with us. He's got some battlefield experience
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+8 = 11]
Hida Sashimi: Zzzzzz...mmmm all-you-can eat buffet....
Kuutai: Do you at least have some sytlin bandages? Maybe some in disheveled Rag Colors?
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 8]
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d8+2 = 4]
Apothecary: I have moldy dust colored rags, some used bandages, and lots of things in the dumpster in the back.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Well, there goes the bath...
Kuutai: I am so game.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): He's bathing. In garbage, instead of clean water
Kuutai demands his student-guide show him to the occult section of the library, and that it must be of higher quality than the apothecary.
Kazemi (Kazuki): hey, that was a pretty high-quality apothecary
Quorteth (Kuutai): Great is leaving with no wounds and buffs. OK is leaving fully cured. Insufficient is...no healing
Quorteth (Kuutai): Imma have to pick up healing as a spell now...ugh
Nick (Hida Sashimi): They're grrrrrreat!!
GM: Kuutai is led to the Occult section of the Library. He is not allowed to remove books from the section, but he is quite impressed with the breadth of tomes available.
Kuutai: Spellcasting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d6-2 = 9]
Kuutai Decides to read with glowy eyes
Kazemi (Kazuki): better than reading with fire
Nick (Hida Sashimi): PETA = People Eating Tasty Animals
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-2 = 1]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Guess I really don't learn that much....
GM: Kuutai finds a coloring book called, "How to talk to Water Kami" that someone colored with a red crayon. He spends several hours erasing the colorings.
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 3]
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 12]
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 7]
GM: Kuutai finds some excellently written books on the nature of the Void, the oni that dwell within, and the enigmatic thing known as the "Veil" which separates Anoyo from Konoyo.
Kuutai: Excellent! Thank thee, Pupil. I require a Green tea and a box of pocky.
Hida Sashimi: Zzzz....
GM: Kuutai is given a box of pocky, some green tea, and a small plate of adorable animal shaped confectionary coated in sea salt.
TADM: And time passes...and once Fen is done typing it will be dinner time.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+9 = 15]
Ikuko spends several hours perched on a bench in the courtyard of the academy making quite a sight as many young men of noble houses gather in the courtyard to boast, fight, sing and tell tales of their acheivements in an attempt to win her and her father's favor while she is passing through. Anyone in the academy who had not already heard of her orders to go out and find a husband certainly does now.
Satsuki: Next...
Satsuki determines size of wallet based on clothes and bearing.
Satsuki: Next...
Ikuko politely rebuffs their advances and assures them that they will be in her thoughts, but that she must continue on her journey and visit all of the great houses before she makes up her mind.
Kazemi (Kazuki): how many great houses are there?
TADM: As many as there are necessary plot elements...
Feneril (Ikuko): Choo, choo!
TADM: +6 for "just in case"
Kazemi (Kazuki): good answer
It is late afternoon when the group is invited to join Elder Tie in his private dining chambers. The room is small and cozy, with spots for six guests while Elder Tie sits at the head of the table. He gestures for where people are to sit, leaving the spot at the foot of the table empty.
Satsuki is given permission to come with Ikuko and assist as needed.
Hida Sashimi: Etiquette {+1 Def. Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 16]
Hida Sashimi: Tea Ceremony {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 9]
Hida Sashimi: Food {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 6]
Elder Tie: Botan asked me to convey his apologies, but he is very tired after his journey and needed to sleep. He is a young boy after all.
Ikuko arrives dressed in an exquisite Furisode patterned with the House Gyoshen seal in blue and white and takes her seat at the table.
Kuutai A person shaped pile of discarded cloth shambles to a seat and lurks
Kazuki: Persuasion (Ettiquette) [Critical failure!] [1d4 = 1]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Persuasion (Ettiquette) [1d6 = 9]
Kazemi (Kazuki): WOAH THERE
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+9 = 19]
Hida Sashimi: Persuasion [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Persuasion (Battle Dammage -2) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-2 = 2]
Hida expertly comports himself while also noticing that Elder Tie is a master of dignity and the tea ceremony. He also has exquisite taste in food and his chef must be a true master of the art.
Kazuki is behaving with much better table-manners than what you* have previously observed
Kazuki looks quite dignified and presentable, which is mostly shocking to everyone else. Kuutai on the other hand, exudes strange odors before he has excessive flatulence.
Kazuki: *non-Ikukos
Ikuko personifies grace and dignity, as always.
Kazemi (Kazuki): does she ever miss her food?
Ikuko: Agility [1d4 = 5]
Feneril (Ikuko): nope
Kazemi (Kazuki): I imagine eating blind with chopsticks is difficult
Kazemi (Kazuki): -6 blind penalty?
TADM: Nope, she passed her Agility check, she has lots of practice.
Kuutai: Thank you, for the hospitality. Should you have any more....tasks to do...I would be happy to assist.
Elder Tie: Well, strange that you mention it, but Botan told me many things. I do not have a task for you, but I can suggest a task that you could pursue.
Elder Tie sips some sake.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Is it seppuku?
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
TADM: Not yet.
Feneril (Ikuko): I doubt I could pass the required attack roll to seppuku myself
Feneril (Ikuko): I would have to ace three times just to beat my parry
Nick (Hida Sashimi): I meant Kuutai, not Ikuko
Elder Tie: Years ago, I served the Bright Empire, and the Iron Dynasty that followed. Many necessary tasks did I perform for the safety of all. Tasks that took me far afield in dangerous times. After the Crimson Coronation I saw the Aori Bukemori of Uma-Ko Ryoudo spring into life. I fought oni as they rose from the depths of Warame in Sakura.
Elder Tie takes another sip of sake.
Hida Sashimi listen intently
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 2]
Elder Tie: I know that the world is wrong, the age and time we live in is not how the world is supposed to be. While I never cared for the Old Ways of Bushido, they were a system which maintained the harmony between Konoyo and Anoyo. That harmony is now gone.
Hida Sashimi is using a benny
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 5]
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = -3]
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 7]
Kazuki nods
Elder Tie drums his fingers on the table for a second.
Elder Tie: If you want to make a difference in the world, seek out the sage known as Sanmiiru in the depths of Sekisho. He is knowledgable about the Transformation and what is happening. He is a strange old man, and if he troubles you too much with his odd ways, tell him that I sent you and that Lin Magami is dead.
Elder Tie nods to himself, as if he is agreeing with some internal argument.
Elder Tie looks at Kuutai.
Elder Tie: Does that sufficently answer your question?
Kuutai: Hrm...Somewhat....
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 6]
TADM: "P" is party. "S" is Sekisho.
Kuutai: However, some among us may not so.....fear the fusion of worlds or the lifting of Veils....
Ikuko: Thank you for those... sage words Kuutai
Elder Tie: Then you have not seen what is on the other side enough to know what that would entail.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+9 = 12]
Kuutai cuckles eerily
Kuutai: Very good then. May we all become the change we want to see in the world.
Ikuko: That is an interesting tale Elder Tie. And you tell it well. I hope that one day, all your students are so accomplished.
Elder Tie: It is a tale my students do not know, but one your father is quite familiar with.
Ikuko nods
Ikuko: My father knows many things, he is most wise.
Elder Tie smiles at Ikuko's comment.
Kazuki: If I may ask, I've never heard of Sanmiiru before. Who was he?
Elder Tie looks at Kazuki.
Elder Tie: Sanmiiru is a sage, a former pupil of The Three, the hidden sages of Ikusa Kokoro. He has spent his life gathering secrets and knowledge of many things. He and I had more than a few adventures in my youth as we did....necessary things.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Ikuko: No doubt my father rests easier at night knowing that he has such friends as you in the south, so far from home. I'm sure that the time will come again one day when the two of you do great things together.
Elder Tie looks at Hida Sashimi.
Elder Tie: Isn't that delicious fugu?
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 18]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 21]
Hida Sashimi: Food {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 6]
Hida Sashimi: Indeed it is. Your chef has a skilled hand
Kazuki: Vigor [1d4 = 7]
Kazemi (Kazuki): Did I have this wound when we started the session?
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2, Defining Interest(Classical Literature) +1) [1d10-1 = 6]
Elder Tie: Yes, I have had the same chef for 60 years, when you find a good one keep him.
Quorteth (Kuutai): (Tales centered around Sekisho)
Kuutai: I go for knowledge. Who else among here has a reason to go visit this...sage?
Kuutai looks for approval from his party
Kazuki: I'm all for it
Kazuki: Although I think it might be best if we waited until we've healed
Ikuko: I have many noble houses to visit in this province, but I am beginning to grow fond of all this excitment. I wouldn't mind taking the scenic route and going on an adventure
Elder Tie: Of course, there is no pressing rush, and you have just traveled a long distance.
Kuutai: Hrm...I surmise we may need some Hida Snacks(Tm) to keep the creature with us...
Kuutai: Good Then. Decided without fuss.
Kazuki: We actually just came from that area. There were quite a few patrols, Ikusans did not want Botan getting over here
Ikuko: Akemi may not have the pedigree of Elder Tie's chef, but I'm sure she can keep Hida's belly full on our travels
Ikuko: Since Botan is no longer with us, we needn't be concerned about them
Elder Tie: Yes, the Void Walkers would seek out Botan and any who they suspect harbor arcane talents.
Ikuko: On second thought, they might not be fond of Kuutai either
Kuutai: Their metal was stronger than their magic.
Ikuko: but that will be a problem no matter where we go
Kuutai: Hrm...That is true. Have you any....authority you could bestow upon us, that we may cross these lands freely?
Elder Tie: Not that would be recognized any more. People must make their own way.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Wound count: I've got 1
Feneril (Ikuko): I've got 0
Nick (Hida Sashimi): 0
Kuutai: No matter then. More delectable resistance from the weak....
Kuutai corrects himself
Kuutai: I mean....So weak and misguided, they only prevent the salvation of this once proud land!
Ikuko: Kuutai, while I'm sure you mean only the best, if we do meet any soldiers in our travels perhaps you should leave the talking to me.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+8 = 12]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 18]
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 4]
GM: The meal is delicious, time passes. Once everyone is done with conversation further shenanigans can commence until the group is ready to depart Nihana.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Fast forward
Kuutai Thanks Tie for the meal and hospitality
Kazemi (Kazuki): *whisperwhisperwhisper*
Ikuko thanks elder tie and bows deeply before departing with Satsuki.
Hida Sashimi thanks him from the delicious meal, and asks to thank the chef personally
Kazuki bows and thanks him for the meal. It is much better than the last Fugu that I had, which had a much higher required Vigor roll
Elder Tie invites his chef to come visit the guests so they may thank him properly.
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Regional Cuisine) [1d4 = 2]
Hida Sashimi is using a benny
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Regional Cuisine) [1d6 = 11]
Quorteth (Kuutai): 0.0
Nick (Hida Sashimi): much better :)
GM: Hida is quite in awe of the local Sorimizan flavors and refined palate. He contemplates retiring here when he is older and even less mobile.
GM: The night passes...with only player induced shenanigans.
Kuutai behaves
Kazuki has so many shenanigans that they are being shoved into miniquest form
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+8 = 12]

Nick (Hida Sashimi): just trying to beat Ikuko
Kuutai has nightmares about Kappa absorbing all his spell damage, and wakes up hoping we can travel by ponies and not by boats.
Ikuko has been awarded a benny
Satsuki writes a letter for Ikuko, "Dear Daddy, had a nice trip on a boat, and came across an old friend of yours who is looking for suitors in a nearby forest for me. He thinks I would like wild and wooly men with excessive hair. Love, Ikuko. XOXO."
The next morning the group is roused out of bed by a couple older students. (Well, Satsuki is roused out of bed for Ikuko, Fen can decide if Ikuko is awoken by her servants.) They are told to dress quickly and meet Shimizu Daichi at the main gates of the Academy.
Ikuko is woken up by Satsuki and dresses to meet Shimizu Daichi.
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 6]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 16]
Kuutai: Who dares disturb my slumber!
Hida Sashimi meets the group, grumbling quietly about no breakfast
Kazuki heads down to the main gates and is expecting trouble
Shimizu Daichi: That is a great question, one which we may soon find out.
Ikuko: Do not worry too much about Kuutai, he rarely kills anyone that does not deserve it.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 17]
Kazuki: But when he does...
Ikuko: Just be glad they are not us
Shimizu Daichi leads the group down to the piers and on to a waiting boat.
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 13]
Kuutai: There shall soon be rest...of an eternal nature.....
There is a dense early morning fog, and the few people out at this time of day look more like ethereal wisps than actual people. The pale light of a red dawn stretches out slowly from the east, like an arthritic hand trying to bat away dusty cobwebs.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): nice imagery
Kuutai: Good Morning, Daichi.
Kuutai: While the yawning of the night to day is beautiful, I would like know the reason for this summon.
Shimizu Daichi: One of the early fishermen came in this morning from a nearby village. He reported something rather disturbing. Elder Tie took some students to investigate. He sent one of them back and told me to bring you. He did not say why.
Shimizu Daichi directs everyone on to one of the river barges.
Shimizu Daichi: It is a short journey, perhaps thirty minutes.
Kuutai: Very well. As the Elder commands.
Hida Sashimi: Agreed
Ikuko boards the barge with her guards.
The thirty minutes pass quietly, the boatmen seem tense. The sun arches ever higher, and as it burns off the fog, it casts a bloody glow over the landscape.
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 2]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 4]
TADM: ..Doom! Doomy doom!
Kuutai (Sleepy): Durrrr Hurr, I don't see anything.
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-8 = -4]
Ikuko: Nor do I
Kuutai: Hey Toucan Hida, What does your Nose say?
Hida Sashimi: Let's see...well, you smell really bad, and...that's all i got
Kuutai: ...
The barge stops at a pier. The first thing everyone notices (including Ikuko) is how unnatural noises sound. Despite the dozen huts by the side of the river there is no sound of animals, even chickens, from the village. You can hear the breathing of the person next to you, and it sounds eerily like the death rattle of a mortally injured soldier, no matter how healthy that person is.
Kuutai: Well, something has to happen, with us bargeing in like this.
Hida Sashimi: Let's just hope this group can stay afloat during the coming storm
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kazemi (Kazuki): who is on the barge with us?
Kazemi (Kazuki): and the Notice is for the surroundings, btw
Feneril (Ikuko): 1000 Kappa's
On the barge with you are Ikuko's guards, the group, Shimizu Daichi, two students, and five sailors.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Sounds like a YMCA fan club
Kuutai: Spellcasting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 16]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): And we all know how much Kuutai loves being surrounded by seamen
Daichi leads you off the boat, and Elder Tie greets you at the docks.
Feneril (Ikuko): No, that would be Issiko
Elder Tie: Greetings, this has been a rough morning.
Kuutai: Greetings Eldar, the Warp has torn this place asunder. Wait I mean Hello Elder, I smell the foul reach of Anoyo.
Elder Tie: Yes, very much.
Elder Tie: Shimizu and I must check something, now that he is here. My assistant, Mai, will show you what we have discovered so far.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Elder Tie gestures to the woman who seems to materialize through the mists to stand next to him. Then he and Shimizu walk off quickly.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Mai is a skinny, narrow-faced woman who speaks with a Tetsun accent, similar to Ikuko's.
Kazemi (Kazuki): on the ninja woman
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Mai: Konnichiwa.
Mai bows.
Kuutai: Hello there...
Kazuki: Ohayo
Kazuki bows
Ikuko bows to Mai.
Ikuko: It is nice to meet you.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 19]
Mai: It is nice to meet you.
Mai: We have a rather disturbing series of murders here.
Hida Sashimi bows
Ikuko: Are not all murders disturbing?
Mai gestures for the group to follow her.
Kuutai follows.
Mai: Yes, but some more than others.
Kuutai: Spellcasting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 2]
Mai: All 31 people of this village were killed sometime since yesterday morning.
Kuutai: Yes, but did Anoyo come first, or after? And for what?
Mai looks at Kuutai carefully.
Mai: After.
Mai: For reasons that will make sense shortly.
Kuutai listens obeidiently.
The sun burns off the last of the fog and the area around the village becomes starkly visible. There is blood splattered in many places and the only living things the party sees are themselves and about a dozen students from the school. The students are carefully sifting through debris and looking in huts. Even all the livestock has been slaughtered, the chickens have been rather strangely slain by being plucked and then buried head first in the ground.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Whoever did this sure wasn't clucking around
Kazemi (Kazuki): I hate you
Kazemi (Kazuki): reminds me of Mokou, though
Kazuki: Why the chickens?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Nah. Mokou would have just destroyed the village
Kazemi (Kazuki): like that time with the exploding badge?
Quorteth (Kuutai): that was one building, and 3 people.
When you reach the center of the village, you find that 21 of the villagers' corpses have been decapitated and their bodies are sitting in a circle with the arms outstretched and tied together. Their heads are neatly stacked in a pyramid in the middle of the circle. The remaining 10 villagers, the children, have been nailed to the side of a fishing boat in a gruesome rendition of the kanji for the word, "Kazemi."
Nick (Hida Sashimi): i didn't die mwahahaha
Satsuki throws up, a lot.
Kuutai: Kaze...mi?
Kuutai looks at the sky
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 4]
Mai: Elder Tie's assumption is that someone is trying to send your group a message.
Kazuki: Ew
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 2]
Mai: I prefer letters, myself.
Kazemi (Kazuki): did we even travel through this village?
GM: No, the group would have sailed right past this village on the barge.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Brad gone done turned your character into a villian, Zinzer style!
Kazemi (Kazuki): Q.Q
Nick (Hida Sashimi): D.D C.C
Kuutai: Smarts (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 4]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Kazemi ring a bell?
GM: Nope.
Kazuki: Common Knowledge (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 4]
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Critical failure!] [1d4+1 = 2]
Kazemi (Kazuki): ...
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [1d6 = 10]
Kazemi (Kazuki): can't afford my benny
Feneril (Ikuko): anything to me?
Hida Sashimi: Common Knowldge [1d6 = 2]
GM: Ikuko is relatively certain this is not something a member of the nobility would do, and cannot think of any member of the nobility named Kazemi.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kuutai: Hrm, well I cant think of any Kazemi off hand...
Kuutai: Smarts (Defining Interest(Classical Literature) +1, Battle Dammage -2) [1d6-1 = 9]
Kuutai: Hrm...Any great stories involving a Kazemi.
GM: Nope, not great Kazemi's in Konoyo's history.
Kuutai makes some gestures at the various trails of gore and bodies.
Kazuki: Nope
Kuutai appears to be tabulating something.
Kuutai: Yep. Someone's trying to summon something from beyond this reality.
Kuutai: A grim sacrifice to Anoyo.
Kuutai chuckles.
Kuutai: I'd look for any tracks....of something BIG around here.
Kazuki: So, is there a good way of dismantling this?
Kuutai: I'd say its already too late.
Kuutai: Sure do what any civilized person would do and clean up the physical mess.
Kazuki: Hm. So, the question is why someone decided to annihilate some backwater village to get a message across
Kuutai: But the Veil is already being fixed. Whatever came through certainly casued quite the tear though.
Mai looks expectantly at the group for an answer.
Kazuki shrugs
Mai: That's sort of why we brought you here, so I assume that question was rhetorical?
Kazuki: Are you sure it was our attention they wanted?
Ikuko: My enemies use political pressure and coinpurses to send message, not villages full of dead peasants
Kazuki: Would you be more apt to listen if they used villages?
Kuutai: Souls are the currency of Oni. Seems quite the transaction took place. =)
Mai glances at Kuutai.
Mai: Yes.
Ikuko: Of course, I have a great regard for human life, but I listen to all legitimate grievances when at court.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 24]
Ikuko: Murdering villages is not necessary to get my attention
Mai looks at Kazuki.
Mai: Yes to your question also.
Kuutai: Spellcasting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 6]
Mai: So if you would like to gather clues and look around and see if there is anything to explain this, the Elder would appreciate it.
Kazuki: OK
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 9]
Kazuki pulls out a magnifying glass
Kazuki: Let's go
Mai steps to one side as if to indicate that her part of the investigation is done and you are free to do whatever.
Ikuko: Well, my skills are not well suited to looking around, but I'm sure my compatriots can help you out
Kuutai: Ikuko. Have some of your men look for tracks exiting the village. Expecting something....big, meaning, distinct tracks.
Kazuki takes a look around the area, careful not to set off any lingerig traps
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 4]
Kazemi (Kazuki): Oni can see me if they want
Kuutai: Hida, Can you tell what was used on these bodies? You would know how meat cuts the best of all of us.
Satsuki dispatches a couple guards to look around while making sure Daichi is posted and ready to kill any who threaten Ikuko.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): brb
Kuutai: Perhaps we will know where they got their cutlery from.
Ikuko: Naoki, Shigeru, accompany Kuutai in his search for these "large" tracks
Kuutai: I will be conducting another search, Again i trust your men more than myself in the searching of these mundane clues.
Kazemi (Kazuki): anything amusing?
Ikuko: That is reasonable, carry on with your search then.
TADM: With a Stealth of 4? Nope.
GM: With a Notice of 9? Probably.
Kazuki notices that whatever blade killed these people was incredibly sharp, but not very long. In fact, it looks like it took two cuts to decapitate them. Also, it looks like whatever killed them did so all over the village, then dragged their corpses to the center of the village and piled them up. Kazuki is also quite convinced the kids were the last to die, and were impaled on the boat while still alive. Kazuki is also 100% certain this is not the work of any kappa.
Kuutai: Mai, have you found any....impliments around here?
Mai: Nope, which is unusual.
Kuutai: Hrm....
Kazuki: I don't think they were used for this. Seems the blad was very, very sharp
Kazuki: I wonder why they would've been taken...for the iron?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 3]
Kazemi (Kazuki): pff, nm
Kazemi (Kazuki): any sign of tracks?
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 7]
Kuutai: Hrm.....
Ikuko: Hida, did you happen to come through this village in your trek to catch us up after we sailed up the river?
Mai: When you are done searching, let me know. We have orders from Elder Tie to burn the bodies and the village.
Kuutai: Smarts (Defining Interest(Gods) +1, Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-1 = 7]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Any Dieity that uses this arrangemetn?
Kazemi (Kazuki): btw, is there any particular arrangement to the chickens?
Hida Sashimi: No, I don't believe so.
Ikuko: I can't help but wonder if Chiri may have come this way after she slipped off the barge yesterday morning
Kuutai: Search for her among the bodies.
Kuutai: But...I doubt anything could take her on.
Ikuko: Of course, I'll get right on that
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d4-8 = -3]
Ikuko: I do not see her
GM: No, Hida did not come through this village.
GM: No, you do not see any sign of Chiri here.
GM: So Ikuko MUST HAVE PASSED her Notice check.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Critical failure!] [1d6+2 = 3]
Kazuki: YAY
Kazemi (Kazuki): LOOK AT THE SUN
Kazemi (Kazuki): THROUGH THIS MAGNIFYING GLASS
Kazemi (Kazuki): IT BURNS
Kuutai: Hrm...
Elder Tie walks up.
Elder Tie: I personally suspect shenanigans.
Elder Tie would like to check the Hindrances of all the players..just to make sure.
GM: Request denied.
Elder Tie: Damn you!
Kuutai: Hes a wily one, this GM.
Sensei: And has just became filled with AWESOME.
Elder Tie: Oooh!
Elder Tie marvels at amazing new GM id.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Impressive
Kazuki: So, Kuutai, any idea why they did what they did with the chickens?
Kuutai: Fowl Play.
Kazuki: Fighting: Grapple [2d6 = 8]
Kuutai: Fighting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d4-2 = 3]
Ikuko: If they will kill an entire village full of people, why would they think to spare the chickens?
Kuutai has been awarded a benny
Sensei: For the bad pun and great in-whisper questions...1 benny has been awarded.
Kuutai: Im still figuring it out, but We are dealing with something way beyond our comprehension and battle-ability.
Kuutai: For now.
Kazuki: That last part worries me
Nick (Hida Sashimi): That must have been poultry in motion, Tack
Kuutai: Whomever did this, is a madman, and a decieved slave of an Oni Lord.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): It's our convos with Colonel Tyson all over again! TO THE CHAT LOGS!!
Kazemi (Kazuki): Are you including Tie and Shimizu in your assesment?
TADM: Nah, he's assuming the Sensei already killed them.
Kuutai: Yet, such a madman, was able to tease apart the Veil enough to allow passing of Such a lord into our realm.
Kuutai: Now, I don't know too many Oni Lords, but We should prolly look among the bodies for the summoner.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 8]
Kuutai: As, Now free of Anoyo, what use does the Oni have for a summoner?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 4]
Kuutai: Hrm, which one of these bodies is not like the others...
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 1]
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = -4]
Sensei: Kazuki does not see anyone that he would suspect is the summoner.
Kuutai: All right then. I am ready to present my findings to Elder Tie.
Elder Tie is patiently standing next to Ikuko.
Ikuko: I await your finding with baited breath
Kuutai: Most Noble Elder Tie. This village was mere barter for the summoning of an Oni Lord to our Realm. I have no idea who performed this ritual, but we cannot find a body that does not seem to be a villager, so we assume both the Oni Lord and his thrall are on the loose.
Kazuki has been awarded a benny
Kuutai: Currently Kazuki et.al. are continuing, but that is all we know at the moment.
Elder Tie: Hmm...thank you Kuutai.
Elder Tie: Mai, gather the others and torch this place.
Kuutai: I would stay the fire until Kazuki testifies.
Mai: Right, waiting patiently for Kazuki to come clean.
Kazuki is noticibly pale
Mai: Err...I mean, tell us what he discovered.
Kazuki: I've got a sneaking suspision that the Oni Lord is going to be gunning for me...
Kuutai: What did you steal from it to make it so?
Kazuki: Botan?
Kuutai: Oh.
Mai: Seppuku cures that, by the way.
Kazuki: What, Botan?
Mai: No, you.
Kuutai: Both.
Kazuki: Oh, by all means, please demonstrate
Kuutai laughs
Kuutai: Ok, that doesnt make sense, How are YOU targeted when we ALL stole Botan?
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 7]
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d6+1 = 15]
TADM: I'm not even sure what he is rolling for, honestly.
TADM: Meanwhile, the rest of the group, if sitting around the table, would notice considerable confusion on Mike's face following the answer to that last whisper.
Kuutai waits on Kazuki's response
Ikuko: I would appreciate any explanation you can offer as well
Kazuki: Well, I don't think I was supposed to actually /leave/ Ikusa Kokoro
Kazuki: I imagine there's a few people who are less than happy with that
TADM: You know what, I like that whisper so much, I'm going to share it with everyone else...
Kazuki: Also, this is significantly overkill
Kuutai: So you leave and someone goes berzerk and summons an oni?
TADM: It would be like carpet bombing all of Europe to kill a noisy cricket in Paris.
Kazemi (Kazuki): summoning an Oni Lord to gun for one person, he means
Ikuko: If I had known my companions would be so popular, I would have had my father send me south in a Kikai
Nick (Hida Sashimi): That definitely makes my mini-quest info from two weeks ago more interesting
Satsuki: Perhaps more than one.
Satsuki is responding to Ikuko's comment.
Kuutai: Well that's just dandy.
Elder Tie: Okay Mai, torch it.
Elder Tie: The rest of us will head back to the boat. Mai, you and the others come back with Shimizu.
Elder Tie heads back towards the barge.
Ikuko returns to the barge.
Mai: Hai!
Hida Sashimi follows, glad to be away from such a horrible place
Kuutai: Kazuki, you must explain what sort of person would do this becasue you left a place...or person, behind.
Ikuko: Kazuki, it has been a pleasure knowing you, I will be most saddened when you are killed by the Oni Lord
Kazemi (Kazuki): What does an Oni Lord look like?
Sensei: Whatever it feels like.
Kazuki: You and the rest of the province
Quorteth (Kuutai): Bloodthirster?
TADM: It could be the grasshopper crawling up your pants leg RIGHT NOW!
Kazuki: Fighting: Called Shot [2d6 = 4]
Kuutai: Wait.....
Kuutai snaps his fingers
Kuutai: Spellcasting (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 6]
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 6]
Kuutai: Hrm...I figured an Oni would see one of it's own readily enough....
Kuutai snaps his fingers again
Kazuki: ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND
Kuutai: That, That I have to ask of you this time.
Satsuki: Based on personal experience in Kara, I would have to say yes, yes you both are.
Ikuko: I agree
Kuutai: Now you've got me convinced that a crazed pyromancer, a ninja, and a massive tank-man thing are going to be haunting us.
Elder Tie directs the barge back to Nihana once everyone is on board. You see the village and its gruesome remains burning brightly in the morning sun as an acrid smoke, much more than you would think given the size of the fire, claws skyward and sets a pall over the area.
Kuutai: But...I dunno. You have some explaining to do another time.
Kazemi (Kazuki): That has made me realize that the apples did not fall far from the L5R tree...
TADM: No, no they did not.
Kuutai: Hrm....I suppose there will be more on this in some books at the Academy.
Kuutai: So I will...converse with thee later, Kazuki
Nick (Hida Sashimi): That's not an apple tree. It's a bomb tree. Or maybe more like a Tarp tree
Sensei: Once the group reaches the Academy, Botan is there to greet you. He tells you that he was told you all went out for a morning excursion and now that you are back he would be happy to have breakfast with you. The chef is cooking up some delicious chicken.
Elder Tie: That sounds great Botan. I'll be happy to join you.
Satsuki thinks about chickens in the village, and throws up some more.
Kuutai: Don't lose your head over it Satsuki. Enough people already have.
Ikuko: As would I
Botan: Did you all sleep well last night? I slept very well. I did have a strange dream about people dancing around an overturned boat though.
Satsuki turns pale and excuses herself.
Kuutai: ....Tell me more of this dream while the memmory is still fresh.
Hida Sashimi: excuses myself before the dream story
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Damn letter I whispers
Kazuki listens intently
Botan: Well, it was a dark and foggy night. These people, about 20 of them, gathered around the center of a village while their children stood near an overturned boat. The shadows from the torches grew very long and then the torches began burning a bright blue color before going out while the people were still dancing. After the torches went out, everything became pitch black and then I woke up very scared.
Kazuki: Oh dear
Kuutai: Well....that's interesting.
Kuutai grabs some food and marches on to the library.
Kazuki: Have you told anyone else about these dreams?
Botan: Not specifically. I assume they are just stress from the journey.
TADM: Two players are now completely paranoid already in the campaign. This is a good night of gaming.
Kazuki: Nonetheless, I think it may be for the best that you speak with Tie-sensei about these things. He probably has a few ways to help you unwind and get rid of these.
Botan looks at Elder Tie.
Elder Tie: Yes, we shall discuss such things later.
Ikuko: And a good lord knows to keep council only with his trusted advisors. Be careful what you say in the presence of others.
Kazemi (Kazuki): so, who else is irrevocably paranoid for the rest of the game?
Kuutai returns from the library.
Sensei: Kazuki thinks he just heard his name whispered on the wind when no one else was talking.
Botan: I shall heed your advice, your ladyship.
Kuutai: Strangely no answers there. I really booked it too.
Kuutai: So.....I assume Mai is a successful graduate of this fine Academy?
Kuutai looks at Tie
Elder Tie: Yes, Mai is due to graduate soon and will be returning to Tetsu Sangaku.
Sensei: Okay, some of you eat breakfast. What would the group like to do?
Ikuko excuses herself from the table after eating
Elder Tie: If ANYONE does something that causes an Oni Lord to be summoned AGAIN, I am killing the player. Not the character, the player.
TADM: Now now, that is no way to talk to the PCs.
Kazuki: I didn't do anything! I blame it entirely on Kuutai!
Kazuki: Then again, if they have to summon a second Oni Lord to deal with us, doesn't that mean we're doing something very right?
Kuutai: I'm honestly frustrated. Here I tought I was the onified bad-PC, and I haven't done anything nearly that cool yet.
Kazuki: I'll onify you
Kuutai: So you admit you had dealings with this Dark Oni Lord?
Kazuki: Nope. All I have to do is make sure you're right next to its target
Kazuki: We'll be best of buds
Sensei: A student runs up and whispers something to Elder Tie. The old man excuses himself and heads off towards the entrance of the Academy.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 11]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+8 = 15]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I've gotten a lot of 13s this game...
TADM: It's because you can't draw DMH.
Sensei: Kazuki notices that Elder Tie is hurrying along rather quickly, much faster than a man his age is likely to move.
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 7]
Sensei: Aside from that, everything seems perfectly normal at the Academy.
Kazuki does not chase after sneakily
Kuutai: Hrm. Sounds fun.
Kuutai Goes to the academy entrance.
Kazuki follows Kuutai
Kazuki keeps Kuutai between him and Tie
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d6-2 = 9]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 11]
Elder Tie is at the entrance, speaking with Shimizu Daichi in whispers. The other sutdents who were with Shimizu are heading back to their quarters, looking ashen-faced and horrified at what they saw.
Ikuko rejoins the rest of the group.
Sensei: Everyone is at the entrance.
Botan is off doing something else.
Elder Tie nods to Shimizu, who heads back into town without saying anything.
Elder Tie turns around.
Elder Tie: Ah yes, nothing to report. The corpses were all burned.
Kuutai: Really?
Sensei: Ah, yes, Hida is shooting the breeze with the chef.
Kazemi (Kazuki): it'll be a delicious breeze when they're done
Botan is hanging out with Hida and the Chef, getting tasty snacks.
Ikuko: Did they encounter any further difficulties?
Elder Tie: Nope.
Kuutai: I find that a little...counter to expectation, and a little...bizzare given your haste.
Elder Tie: They thought they spotted a couple kappa lurking around, but it is nothing to worry about.
Ikuko: Smarts [1d6 = 9]
Kuutai: Smarts (Neg 2 -2) [1d10-2 = 6]
Kazuki: Your students look like they'll need therapy and you seemed to rush down here rather quickly. I don't think spotting Kappa would do that
Elder Tie shrugs.
Kazuki: Something happened since this morning.
Kuutai: Yeah...seems like sort of a kappa-out going on here.
Kazuki tilts his head
Ikuko: Yes, a village was killed by an Oni lord that was sent to kill you
Elder Tie: Kappa attacks on our fishermen and farmers are dangerous.
Kazuki: No, the village was killed to bring the Oni lord. And we knew that already
Ikuko: perhaps you should be a little more remorseful and less suspcious of those who are risking their lives just being around you?
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 15]
Elder Tie: Well, I have things to attend to, I hope the rest of our day is peaceful.
Elder Tie walks down into Nihana.
Sensei: Notice checks
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = -5]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 9]
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -2) [1d10-2 = 3]
Sensei: Kuutai hears crickets.
Kuutai: I think we need to talk to Daichi.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 2]
Daichi: I'm right here, guarding her Ladyship. But thanks for asking. I think you are all trouble and will probably get me killed.
Kazuki: Does anybody else smell Sake?
Kuutai: Okay okay fine. We need to track those students, THEY will talk.
Kuutai: and no, I smell no Sake.
Campaign saved.
