Savage Worlds Deluxe for Fantasy Grounds II. (c) 2011 Pinnacle Entertainment Group.
Nessie (Agent R): So I have samples to run and we are heading somewhere righ?
GM: Quite possibly, what is the plan?
Pilot Jimmy: Right, so you want me to pick you up where I dropped you off, right?
Pilot Jimmy: Also, I'm somewhat Canadian, in that I end all my sentences with, right, right?
Agent P: Yes, evac and the same spot you dropped us.
The soldiers around the first perimeter have not reacted to the group's recent activities.
Pilot Jimmy: I will set down there, right.
Pilot Jimmy lands the RVTOL and pops open the rear hatch after sealing off the cockpit area.
Agent P: Everyone climb in!
Pilot Jimmy: If anyone sees any mucus-like substance is on any handrails, don't tell me, because I'm not opening the door. I saw that movie and locked the door to the cockpit from this side. Right.
Agent P: right.
Agent R climbs in making sure all of his samples are secure and safe.
Agent P climbs in and straps himself down.
Agent P: Okay soon as everyone is in, lets do a flyby of the first permiter then see if we can reach anyone at the second perimter by radio (perhaps? perhaps not?)
Hat Trick: That wasnt a movie, Jimmy, it was a documentary.
Pilot Jimmy: It had the same actress as Gorillas in the Mist, so I suppose it might have been a documentary, I never thought about it that way.
Hat Trick: She's very into nature.
Agent P: She is also that one about the documentary of those ghosts attacks in New York.
Agent P: She does alot of important research.
Agent R: WHat is the current threat level to this vessel? I would like to do some prelimenary readings on these samples...
Pilot Jimmy: How much altitude do you want me to get above the perimeter?
Agent R: DI Analytical Planner {+1 } [1d6+1 = 9]
Agent R: DI Researcher {+1 } [1d6+1 = 11]
Agent R: Notice [1d8 = 3]
Agent R: Tech Ops [1d6 = 5]
Nessie (Agent R): running samples
Agent P: 200m
Pilot Jimmy sets the altitude to 200m and hovers above the perimeter.
Agent R: Sanitizing {+10 Thoughness} [1d4+10 = 16]
You hear the "pitter-patter" of 7.62mm bullets off the bottom of the RVTOL. It sounds kind of like rain.
Asset 1101: bummer
Pilot Jimmy: Hmm...next guess?
Agent P: Hmm, perhaps higher?
Asset 1101: higher
Agent P: 500m
Asset 1101: jimmy, can you purge the sanitary system please
Hat Trick: They appear to be hostile
Pilot Jimmy: Sure.
Pilot Jimmy dumps the sanitary system, increases altitude to 500m.
Pilot Jimmy: I'll let you guys respond to the person hailing us.
Pilot Jimmy pipes the radio feed to the back.
Asset 1101: ooh, someone wants to talk to us
Captain Francois Mugabe: Unidentified vehicle, you have 1 minute to respond or we will open fire.
Hat Trick: You already have!
Asset 1101: havent they already?
Pilot Jimmy: He sounds French with an African accent.
Hat Trick: You have 1 minute to surrender
Asset 1101: I think he's creeole
Asset 1101: no surrender here
Asset 1101: should we tell him we are reinforcements...
Captain Francois Mugabe: Surrender? We are not surrendering to you! Who are you and why are you in a designated no-fly zone?
Hat Trick releases PTT button
Agent P: Yes and tell him his government invited us...
Hat Trick: I don't suppose I'd get anywhere telling him we're the UNSC Pillar of Autumn
Agent P: We should be treated as honored guests, and all there resources should be at our disposal
Hat Trick pushes PTT button
Hat Trick: We are guests of the government, here on a diplomatic mission
Hat Trick: you should have been appraised of our approach
Pilot Jimmy: Also, he speaks Portuguese, French, and English, which is lucky for you guys.
Agent R: My reading from just the tests I can do on the ship are showing that there as been a recent infution of Technetium-99m in the top layers, I am not sure sure on an exact time line. the rest of the layers have just a small dusting of the compound.
Hat Trick: we are certainly carrying no stolen plans
Pilot Jimmy: Nice to know the NPCs are multilingual.
Asset 1101: I like the Pillar of Autumn thingy
Agent R cleans up his lab and very carefully stores all of his samples into his bag with the care of a new mother.
Captain Francois Mugabe: I do not know anything about...half of what you said. If you are from our government, you need to land until I can verify your story. Who is your government contact?
Agent P: Land the ship Jimmy.
Hat Trick: Where would you like us to land?
Agent P: right next to whatever AA they might have.
Pilot Jimmy: Sure, they have some Zsu-23s, those are fun.
Hat Trick: I was asking the guy on the radio
Hat Trick: but that sounds good too
Agent P: yeah I want to be able to take those out before we take off if we have to...
Captain Francois Mugabe: You can land anywhere near the perimeter, but if you take any hostile action we will respond lethally.
Pilot Jimmy: Sure thing.
Pilot Jimmy lands between the Zsu-23s.
Nessie (Agent R): I wonder if this radioactive material is a pretectant of some kind from what is happening areound te premeter? were those samples from inside the premeter or outside?
Pilot Jimmy opens the rear hatch.
Agent P climbs out and looks for this Captain Fellow.
Pilot Jimmy: All right, let me know if I need to open a can of whoop ass.
Pilot Jimmy: In the mean time, I'm playing some Kenken on my iPhone.
Captain Francois Mugabe walks up with an entourage of soldiers.
Captain Francois Mugabe: Greetings...hazmat suit clad individuals.
Captain Francois Mugabe seems mildly relieved that you are not slavering drug fiends.
Asset 1101: Halo, buddy boy. I am glad you have the situation stabilized, now its time we help you wrecktify it.
Captain Francois Mugabe raises an eyebrow.
Hat Trick: Greetings. We would like a full briefing on the situation here
Asset 1101: Capitan, if we could tell you who we were, we would tell you how good we are, but we can't, but we are.
Asset 1101: Spirit [1d6 = 3]
Asset 1101 thinks this is not going as well as i hoped...
Agent P hops back in the VTOL
Captain Francois Mugabe: Very well...20 hours ago we received reports of some sort of explosion in the village of Bafusora. Our initial reinforcements to the area were overwhelmed by ... things ... when we arrived here we found a cordon of hostile forces around the village. We setup this second defensive perimeter about 12 hours ago and are waiting either reinforcements or direction from my superior officers.
Agent R looks around while the Captain speaks...
Agent R: Notice [1d8 = 4]
Asset 1101: So, how are things here going, anyway? Things are pretty dead in the town, most everyone's bodies are gone, with blood trails, but its quiet. too quiet. inside the perimeter...
Agent R feels that the soldiers here are nervous, bored, and likely to open fire on the zombie soldiers in the distance if they are here much longer.
Asset 1101: so they havent been fighting the zombies yet?
Agent R: great trigger happy...no one make any sudden movements
Agent P: I'm updating Miranda to clear up the government thing and telling her our situation.
Captain Francois Mugabe: I have no idea how things in town are, the current orders are to hold our position.
Captain Francois Mugabe: Now, who are you, where are you from, and what vehicle is that?
Captain Francois Mugabe seems to be growing short on patience with the MOPP-4 clad people.
Agent P: I don't think he's cleared for any of that info.
Asset 1101: We come from afar, bearing gifts. This is our chariot of fire...
Captain Francois Mugabe: I don't think I care what "clear"...
Captain Francois Mugabe looks at Asset 1101.
Asset 1101: Vodka?
Asset 1101 hands him a bottle
Captain Francois Mugabe: Okay, you have 10 seconds to give me an answer I like or you will all be arrested.
Captain Francois Mugabe takes the vodka as "evidence."
Agent R: I don't think the zombie can touch this radio active compound. Maybe we sound coat out bullets in it and shoot one an see what happens.
Agent P: I like that idea.
Asset 1101: We are those people that don't exist, that get called to deal with things that shouldn't happen. Like here, and now.
Agent P: Captain, your not cleared for these kinds of answers. I think if you call your next in chain of command they will clear this up for you.
Agent P: How about you just let us do our job?
Agent P: Spirit [1d4 = 5]
Captain Francois Mugabe: Spirit [1d6 = 5]
Captain Francois Mugabe looks mildly offended by your suggestions.
Captain Francois Mugabe: Sergeant, arrest these...
Asset 1101: that is not a recommended course of action.
Radio Officer: Sir, General Altande is on the phone..
Radio Officer hands a phone to Captain Mugabe.
Captain Francois Mugabe speaks in Portuguese.
Asset 1101: « Persuasion » {-2 Untrained} [1d6-2 = 14]
Asset 1101: fast talk
Captain Francois Mugabe: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Asset 1101: if you refer to UN directive 561.14, under ICC ruling 23A, this clearly gives us jusridiction over matters such as these.
Asset 1101: you can look that up on the ipad that my friend here can show you in a moment
Asset 1101 hope he can type fast...
Asset 1101 may never know if it is his statement or what is said on the phone which defuses the situation, but Captain Mugabe hands the phone back to the radio officer, looks at the group and shrugs.
Captain Francois Mugabe: Okay, so what do you need from my soldiers and I?
Agent P: Well first what "things" attack you?
Captain Francois Mugabe: I am not sure, when we arrived we were told to establish a second perimeter further out from "the things" as they were called.
Agent R takes new sample of the ground in all corners...
Agent R: Notice [1d8 = 7]
Agent R: Sanitizing {+10 Thoughness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+10 = 12]
Hat Trick: I think we can probably get out of these suits
Captain Francois Mugabe: They look like other Guinea soldiers, but they are unresponsive to our hails and do not seem to react until people get close. Then they are violent and dangerous.
Hat Trick: But let's wait for R's samples to come back
Agent R sits down and starts running the preliminary reading on the samples.
Agent R: DI Analytical Planner {+1 } [1d8+1 = 10]
Agent R: DI Researcher {+1 } [1d8+1 = 7]
Agent R and the cheery Geiger Counter determine this area is safe and it is not necessary to wear MOPP-4 suits here.
Hat Trick: Whew!
Asset 1101: yay
Agent P: Might as well take some of it off at least for afew minutes
Agent P: So, have you shot at any of them?
Agent P: Who instructed you to form the second perimeter?
Captain Francois Mugabe: Yes, to defend the soldiers who approach to closely.
Hat Trick: We should set up a base of operations here. I think samples from the first perimeter might be helpful. I am also intrigued by this "shooting them" with "Technitium" idea
Captain Francois Mugabe: My superior officer told me to establish the second perimeter and await further orders. He is Colonel Arney.
Asset 1101: hmm, you want to dust some bullets?
Agent P: Is Col Arney on site?
Hat Trick: Could we make a bullet core with the material?
Agent P: Yeah I think we should get some ready for traial (if we can)
Captain Francois Mugabe: He is not. He said he would arrive in the morning with additional units. Last time he contacted me he would arrive around sunrise.
Captain Francois Mugabe looks at his watch.
Captain Francois Mugabe: Which is in about 5 hours.
Hat Trick: Maybe we could send out a patrol to capture a zombie for testing?
Agent R: The soil here has no radiological material and the soil composition would be marvelous to have a farm here...
Agent R rubs his chin
Hat Trick: Maybe a couple so we can drop one off by the bell and see what happens?
[TOWER] Agent P -> Investigation [1d6 = 14]
The cockpit door opens and Project 51 walks out, ready to help the rest of the group.
GM: Hi Richard!
Project 51: Hola
Project 51: Investigation (Sm) [1d6 = 11]
Project 51: Investigation (Sm) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 9]
Project 51: Vigor [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Agent P Hey guys... so it looks like this bell has been fought over for years... found some stuff on it.
Pilot Jimmy closes the cockpit door and locks it.
Pilot Jimmy goes back to playing Kenken.
Agent P: I do some more investgiation and see if this bell correlates to any other people or artifcacts.
Project 51: « Unskilled » {-2 Untrained} [1d6-2 = 6]
Asset 1101: I think its a fake!
Project 51 determines that the one he can't read that is seems to be written on Vellum is likely a Bible.
Agent R scans the books
Agent R: DI Analytical Planner {+1 } [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 3]
Agent R: DI Researcher {+1 } [1d6+1 = 12]
Agent R: Notice [1d6 = 10]
Geiger Counter: The book Project 51 is holding could totally be carbon dated! Also, it is written in proto-Aramaic using late Latin characters.
Project 51: Notice (Smarts) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Geiger Counter: Which is totally bizarre, and no, I can't read it.
Geiger Counter: But I can guess that it is about 1700 years old.
Agent P: I'd like to take a picture of the front page of the book and feed into my laptop.
Geiger Counter: Also, I am at 92% battery life, and appreciate the grip you have on my leather-wrapped handle.
Agent R translates latin
Agent R: Smarts [1d6 = 10]
Agent R determines that the book uses Latin characters...but is not written in Latin. Or if it is written in Latin, it is using some crazy substitution cipher.
Asset 1101: Now, I am stepping into another movie, maybe?
Laptop changes the screen on the laptop to a smiley face emoticon that gradually turns into a frowny face and two arms come out and shrug in a "sorry, no idea what this is" kind of way.
Asset 1101: capture them
Captain Francois Mugabe: What is the plan?
John (Asset 1101): sorry, our next use of equipment picks for William Shatner. http://www.dudeiwantthat.com/autos/exotic/elemment-palazzo-land-yacht.asp
GM: Yes, that is completely approved and totally subtle. No one would possibly suspect something like that belonging to a secret government agency.
Asset 1101: I bet vladimir putin has two, one just for cruising...
Valeroth (Agent P): This is armor is the best protection. http://www.dudeiwantthat.com/entertainment/cosplay/cyber-armor.asp
GM: The plan is -> put the MOPP-4 Gear back on, distract a zombie-like soldier, and lure it somewhere too capture it?
Project 51: BIG net
Agent P: Stealth [1d4 = 13]
GM: Who is going to Stealth to the perimeter?
Project 51: Stealth (Ag) [1d4 = 6]
GM: Are you stealthing from the exterior perimeter or the village?
John (Asset 1101): ok back
GM: Or hovering overhead at a height of more than 200m?
Asset 1101: yes
Asset 1101: to perimeter
Asset 1101: how intact do we want the zombie thingy dudes?
The group walks 1.2km from Captain Mugabe's location towards the interior perimeter where the zombiefied-soldiers are lurking.
At 300m out, there is no reaction as yet, but you think this is wise to stop and have stealthier people move forward.
Hat Trick: Stealth [1d6 = 3]
John (Asset 1101): i have d6
Hat Trick: I have a d8
Asset 1101: oh boy, hold onto your hamhocks
Agent R: « Unskilled » {-2 Untrained} [1d6-2 = 1]
Asset 1101: Stealth [1d6 = 7]
Hat Trick: Stealth [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Hat Trick: Stealth [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Asset 1101 and Hat Trick move forward to about 200m out.
Infected: Notice [1d4 = 7]
GM: [1d12 = 6]
Asset 1101: here thingy zombie come to get your brain candy...
At 175m out, 6 of the zombiefied soldiers turn towards Asset 1101 and Hat Trick and begin moving forward, guns at the ready and sweeping out towards them while they begin making this odd groaning/braying noise.
Asset 1101: backing up
Except for the groaning/braying part, they are behaving like soldiers in a combat situation.
Asset 1101: are they following?
Hat Trick starts backing up
GM: Yes
Asset 1101: we can thin the herd...
Round 1
Dealing cards...
Asset 1101
Hat Trick: I have flashbangs... we could stun them, grab two and run
Hat Trick: I also have smoke grenades
Asset 1101: Shooting: AK47 (7.62) (-4) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-4 = 5]
Asset 1101: AK47 (7.62) damage [2d8+1 = 8]
A bullet catches one in the chest. It stops and looks down like it is surprised.
Hat Trick
Hat Trick: Throwing [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 10]
Hat Trick throws flashbang to center of group
Project 51: Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch damage [8d20 = 67]
Hat Trick runs forward while priming the flashbang for the previously rolled throw
GM: Thrown Deviation [1d12+1d6 = 10]
Hat Trick runs forward about 10m, hurls the Flashbang with all his might, and it sails through the air, bounces a few times, flies off in a random direction, and explodes about 20m to the 1'o'clock position from the group. He does succeed in getting the attention of many more of them.
GM: [1d12 = 9]
GM: Specifically, another 9 of them.
Asset 1101: ooh. darn.
Project 51
Hat Trick: sweet! More targets of opportunity
Project 51: Fighting: M4 carbine [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Project 51 fires off a shot and it goes wide.
Agent P
Hat Trick: FOUL BALL!
Agent P: I run towards the group of Zeds, but at a 30 degree angle to the left as fast as I can
Agent P: [1d6 = 6]
Agent P takes off like a snowball out of Hell.
Agent R
Agent R: Shooting: M-32 Launcher [1d6 = 11]
Ranges: To Hat Trick -> 165m. Asset 1101 -> 175m. Everyone else -> 200m.
Agent R: M-32 Launcher damage [1d6+4d8+2 = 20]
Hat Trick: Flash Bang!
Agent R: YEs it's a flash bang...
Agent R fires a Flash Bang into the group. They all appear to freeze.
Infected: Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (6 rolls)
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (1) [1d6+2 = 3]
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (2) [1d6+2 = 4]
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (3) [1d6+2 = 7]
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (4) [1d6+2 = 3]
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (5) [1d6+2 = 12]
Spirit {+2 vs Shaken} (6) [1d6+2 = 6]
Asset 1101: cool
Asset 1101: quick, get some duct tape!
Asset 1101: and muzzles!
One of the soldiers breaks into a run straight towards the group, firing at Hat Trick in Full Auto.
Another three move forward, ducking close to the ground and howling in rage.
The other two remain stationary.
Asset 1101: cool
The nine new ones also drop into a crouch and begin loping forward, more like four-legged creatures than humans.
Infected: Notice [1d4 = 3]
None of the others in the area seem to have reacted as yet.
Asset 1101: hmmm
