Slumbara: Slumbara cannot control her speed, only her direction
Slumbara steers Delia in the direction of the crocodile king
Slumbara: Animal Handling 4EXP/4FOC Successes = 3 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 6]
Volmalric: C'mon, Meltam, keep up!
Meltam Perandus: Agility - 11 Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 17]
Delia follows the delicious looking pancake on a stick back towards the river and the headwaters where the Crocodile King supposedly resides.
Meltam Perandus: Easily done.
Meltam Perandus: Also this plan worked incredibly good.
Slumbara: Slumbara is still not convinced we will not be killed
Slumbara: But we will cross that bridge when we come to it
Meltam Perandus: About the only hazard remaining would be for Deliah to have trouble breathing.
Meltam Perandus: i.e. you might be made of steel, but still need air.
Volmalric: Or having her revert back to normal because we have no idea how this magic works
Slumbara: If she doesn't change back, we can always bridle her and keep her as a horse
Slumbara: She is very strong now
Slumbara: She can carry Slumbara very well
Volmalric: I still think we should perform some reconnaissance prior to actually confronting the beast.
The group runs along the river bank for about thirty minutes until you spot a large crescent shaped cove leading to high cliffs. A torrential waterfall dumps water from above down into a basin, from which the river flows out past you.
Volmalric: Observation Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 25]
Meltam Perandus: Observation 3EXP/3FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 16]
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 25]
Meltam Perandus: [1d20 = 20]
Tack (Meltam Perandus): Lets both look directly at the sun.
Stretching along the cliffs above and down the cliff towards the distant desert to the south is a series of large stone markers carved with strange glyphs. You see a shimmering green field that reeks of sorcery between the markers. Almost as if you have found a giant magical barrier preventing further transit to the west.
Meltam Perandus: It's the edge of the dollhouse.
Volmalric: Hmmm
Volmalric: Remember, we just need a tooth
Meltam Perandus: Remember the tooth!
Meltam Perandus: I think we are just fine.
Slumbara enters a holding pattern with Delia
Slumbara: I do not see him. Perhaps this is the wrong river
Meltam Perandus: Throw the pankcake into the basin
Meltam Perandus: This is a good idea.
Meltam Perandus: Wait....if the crocodile eats the pancake, then we are in for trouble
Slumbara: Slumbara agrees, that sounds like a bad plan
Meltam Perandus: Plans?
As you are contemplating the interesting sight before you, a twenty-five foot Crocodile crawls out of the pool at the base of the waterfall and over to the sand along one side of the cove, evidently sunning itself. It looks like it probably weighs about three tons and its hide is a collection of grey, green, and black scales that pulse with an unholy light. Slumbara notes many large and perfectly acceptable teeth in its mouth that is easily large enough to consume a horse whole.
Kazemi (Volmalric): Is there anything else in the basin?
Volmalric: Hm, that isn't as big a crocodile as I thought it'd be
GM: Perhaps this is only the Crocodile Prince?
Meltam Perandus: Hrm, do we have anything that can freeze or chill, Volmalric?
Volmalric: Freeze? No. I've got some stuff that can soothe burns, but I don't think that'd be enough for the crocodile king.
Volmalric: It's got scales, so I imagine we'll have to get the poisons into its mouth or to stab past its scaley skin
Slumbara: Or run down its throat into its belly
Volmalric: I'm...not sure we want that. It'll probably digest anything we give it, ideally we just get it all over the tongue and gums and it absorbs it that way.
Meltam Perandus: There's no way it can digest metal.
Volmalric: Ha
Slumbara: Then we go up its butthole, skip the stomach and go straight to its intestines
Meltam Perandus: All we need is a tooh.
Meltam Perandus: Tooth even
Meltam Perandus: Deliah, care to test your metal here?
Delia: Umm...I'm a pancake eater, not a fighter.
Slumbara: If the crocodile has eaten some of the pancakes, they may still be in his belly
Slumbara: You could go in and check
Delia: I'm pretty sure that is a suicidal suggestion, but I will keep your offer in mind.
Volmalric: You don't really have to fight. Just focus on the pancakes. Embody the pancakes. Be the pancakes.
Volmalric: Wait
Meltam Perandus: You are invulnerable. Look.
Delia: Also, why is Slumbara sitting on me?
Meltam Perandus: Stealth 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 4]
Volmalric: If we find a cow that's not intelligent, we can just load it up with packages of drugs and just herd it down there
Meltam Perandus: Melee 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 33]
Slumbara wiggles the pancake-on-a-stick in front of Delia to distract her from asking such questions
Slumbara: Animal Handling 4EXP/4FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 31]
Delia looks at the pancake.
Delia: That is a tasty looking pancake.
Meltam Perandus: Lore 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 37]
Volmalric: Are there any carcasses, skeletons, or signs of battle in the area?
There is a crack of thunder overhead. You swear you hear screams and what sounds like a cattle stampede. Then four cows drop from the sky and hit the beach near the Crocodile, exploding into a shower of blood and gore. The Croocdile opens it's mouth and black tentacles stretch out from its throat, collect up the exploded cattle mess and shovel it in. The Crocodile chews on this offering thoughtfully. The remaining detritus slides into the water, leaving only a blood stain behind.
Delia: Right. This place is not weird... at all... Can we go back to the pancake place?
Meltam Perandus: Hrm....
Slumbara: After we get the crocodile tooth, we can go get you more pancackes
Delia: Deal.
Volmalric: Okay
Volmalric: This is more complicated now
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 29]
Volmalric: Slumbara, did you know Crocodiles could do that?
Slumbara: Animal Handling 4EXP/4FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 18]
Slumbara: Crocodiles cannot do that
Meltam Perandus: Warfare Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 20]
Slumbara: But maybe he is full now
Slumbara: And will get sleepy
Meltam Perandus: other than Eyes, it has no obvious weakpoints? Lure it onto ground where it cannot use water to its advantage?
Slumbara: Slumbara always gets sleepy after a big meal
Slumbara dismounts Delia
Meltam Perandus: So, I think you'd really manage to piss it off and make this easier if we could temporarily stop the river.
Meltam Perandus: But that's probably too hard to do
Kazemi (Volmalric): Does Slumbara still have his Tuba?
Volmalric: If you play the Tuba well enough, do you think we can get it to explode?
Volmalric: As long as its remains are scattered across the beach, we can fetch a tooth from them
Slumbara: Slumbara does not think so, but Slumbara is willing to try
Meltam Perandus: Right. Unilateral action time.
Meltam Perandus is using a Hero Point
Meltam Perandus: Ranged Weapons 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 25]
Meltam Perandus: Bow: [3d6 = 17]
Slumbara: Greetings Your Royal Scaliness! I am Slumbara, world renowned reptile physician and dentist!
Volmalric begins to panic because he definitely wasn't ready to prepare a dose for something as big as the crocodile, and also because he's not sure if poisons will even work on the thing, and also because he's right next to Meltam
Slumbara waves to the crocodile as Meltam's arrow wizzes overhead
Meltam fires an arrow, to the surprise of everyone, who were really just expecting him to summon a demon instead... and manages to hit the creature in a thick scale. It does not seem to notice too much, other than the fact there is now an arrow protruding from it.
Slumbara: When was your last dental exam? You should have your teeth cleaned at least once a year
Slumbara: Stealth 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 5]
Delia stops to relax after Slumbara dismounts from her back and looks the wrong direction, failing to notice Slumbara hiding the longed-for pancake.
The Crocodile shifts slightly and looks at Slumbara one yellow eye. There is a rumbling and then a voice like grating stones comes from it.
Crocodile King: This is a new approach, I am amused by your audacity. You may approach without being consumed, yet.
Volmalric: Well at least it can talk
Slumbara: Slumbara is glad about that, Slumbara would have felt foolish if he was just a regular crocodile
Slumbara: Also, Slumbara is surely very audacitacious
Slumbara: Slumbara has heard this many times
Slumbara: And definitely knows what that word means
Tack (Meltam Perandus): It's right up there with a Squark
Delia starts digging through her pack for something.
Slumbara: Slumbara is new to these parts and is making house calls for any reptile medical needs
Kazemi (Volmalric): It's basically a stealth squark
Slumbara: Why just today, Slumbara healed a turtle of a stab wound
Volmalric: Observation Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 27]
Crocodile King: Ah yes, the stab wound you caused. I watched from the river.
Volmalric is fixed on the crocodile and doesn't notice what's up with Delia's rumaging
Slumbara: Yes, Slumbara is good at both causing and healing wounds
Crocodile King: Excellent, then I shall make you an offer.
Slumbara: Here, take a business card
Slumbara hands Crocodile King a business card
Crocodile King: Leave it with the pile of skulls next to the waterfall.
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 18]
Crocodile King gestures with tail to pile of skulls. Slumbara notices a stack of business cards next to it.
Slumbara sets the business card by the pile of skulls
Meltam Perandus: Truth be had, you should start getting your cards printed on skulls.
Volmalric: Think we can offer it Slumbara's skull friend?
Slumbara: Wow, that is a nice pile of skulls. Slumbara travels a lot, so I mostly just take scalps for now
Slumbara: Who gave you these business cards? Slumbara needs to have a word with them about plagiarism
Crocodile King looks back at Slumbara.
Crocodile King: Kushites, mostly. Honestly, you two legged warm-bloods all look the same to me.
Crocodile King looks at the group as a whole.
Crocodile King: So I am rather tired of being fed random cows falling from the sky. I would prefer some tastier food. Obviously you are all quite tasty looking, but I would not be so crass as to just want to eat potential minions. Therefore, if you could bring me a live elk, of at least one ton in weight, that I could enjoy, I would probably have a tooth fall out while eating it.
Meltam Perandus: That's pretty reasonable.
Volmalric: At least it's just one quest for one quest
Slumbara: Slumbara is good at hunting
Volmalric: Though if the Elk asks us to go on a quest for it first, it'll be a bit annoying
Meltam Perandus: Are there any elk to be had in this....place?
Crocodile King: There are, up the cliff face and north of the river. I sometimes see them, but my ability to scale vertical cliffs is pretty low.
Kazemi (Volmalric): The downside of minmaxing
Meltam Perandus: Insight 2EXP/2FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 35]
Crocodile King: And no matter how long I just hang around, one of them never seems to get bored enough to get throw itself off the cliff into my waiting mouth.
Meltam Perandus Ponders if this seems too simple and not contrived enough to warrant following.
Kazemi (Volmalric): Note to self: its tentacles have a max range of the top of the cliff
Meltam Perandus: SO all we really need to do is cause an elk-stampede off the cliff face?
Crocodile King: Yes, the elk stampede sounds great. Do that.
Slumbara: Slumbara learned a valuable lesson many years ago: Give a crocodile an elk, and he eats for a day. Teach a crocodile to climb cliffs, and he eats for life
Slumbara: Slumbara is a strong climber, I can teach you
Slumbara is using a Hero Point
Slumbara: Persuade 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 34]
Crocodile King: Willpower - 10 Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 19]
Crocodile King: Tempeting, but if I learn how to do it myself, what will I do with all the other Kushite, Aquilonian, and Bossonian minions who come by here every few days asking for a tooth?
Slumbara: You could eat them!
Volmalric looks horrified
Crocodile King: Good point, the next ones I see I think I will just eat out of hand. Thank you for the valuable suggestion.
Slumbara: You're welcome!
Meltam Perandus: Well, we should go before Slumbara ...I mean before you go hungry!
Meltam Perandus: Let's roll out now!
Meltam Perandus: bar is set sort of low, just one elk
Slumbara: Slumbara has a plan
Volmalric cautiously heads out towards the pile of skulls to take a look at the cards
Crocodile King: Good luck.
Slumbara: We should tie this rope around our waists before we climb the cliffs
Slumbara: For safety
Slumbara ties the rope around everyone's waists
Slumbara: Athletics 3EXP/3FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 27]

Slumbara takes out an arrow, spears a pancake on the end of it, and waves it in front of Delia, making sure to get her attention.
Slumbara: Yummy pancakes!
Slumbara fires the arrow up to the top of the cliff
Slumbara: Ranged Weapons 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 16]
Meltam Perandus applauds such a good plan.
Delia looks at the pancake, then puts her bag back on and then starts free climbing up the cliff, dragging everyone else along with her that is attached in any way.
Meltam Perandus: Agility - 11 Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 21]
Meltam Perandus just to not take damage while bein dragged.
Slumbara: As Delia flies up the rock face, the rope goes taut and Volmalric, Slumbara and Meltam are yanked off their feet and up the face of the cliff. Slumbara laughs heartily
Slumbara: Going up!
Meltam Perandus: Observation 3EXP/3FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 37]
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 24]
Slumbara surveys his surroundings at the top of the cliff
Volmalric faceplants his way up the cliff, struggling to minimize the damage as he's hauled upward unexpectedly
Meltam Perandus: [1d20 = 19]
Slumbara: [1d20 = 14]
Volmalric: You could TELL me next time you do that
Volmalric: Observation Successes = 0 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 32]
Slumbara: Slumbara is a man of action
Slumbara: What were you doing over there anyways?
Slumbara: You were very engrossed, you didn't even notice when Slumbara tied a rope around you
Slumbara unties everyone from their ropes
Volmalric: I was checking it for missed teeth
Volmalric: So, it already had 16 business cards of yours
Volmalric: Which suggests we've been sent back here over a dozen times
Slumbara: Hmmm, no Slumbara has never been here before
Volmalric: It's also got 3-4 missing teeth, so on the plus side we may be able to find its teeth elsewhere
Meltam Perandus: Or other people in other versions of our reality have been here.
Slumbara: Someone else must have stolen Slumbara's business card design
Volmalric: On the down side, it has a second set of teeth inside its mouth. More sharklike than croc-like.
Volmalric: And it doesn't appear to be missing any of those
Volmalric: They're the type of tooth Meltam would love to get his hands on, so I bet that's what we're supposed to fetch
Meltam Perandus: We'll get it to work.
Meltam Perandus: Doesn't matter if this is a time-loop or just another fractal branch of reality.
Meltam Perandus: We only need to succeed once.
Meltam Perandus: Onward to the Elk!
Slumbara: Slumbara has no idea what you're talking about
Slumbara looks for signs of elk
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 27]
Slumbara: Survival 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 33]
Meltam Perandus: Survival Successes = 0 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 27]
Volmalric: Which begs the question of how many times have we been sent up here to fetch an Elk
Volmalric: And how many times that failed
Volmalric: Survival 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 37]
Meltam Perandus: But that's also linear thinking, when time may not flow in a linear fashion, beyond our meager perceptions.
Slumbara sees signs of several large elk herds.
Meltam Perandus: I'm not too worried.
In fact, it seems like you have entered some alternate world, as you now seem to be in an area that is far more reminiscent of northern Aquilonia and the Bossonian Highlands around Gunderland. Perhaps even northern portions of the Pict Wilderness.
Meltam Perandus: Observation 3EXP/3FOC Successes = 3 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 12]
Meltam Perandus: can I still see the huge green 'out of bounds' barrier?
Kazemi (Volmalric): is busy contemplating the meaning of reality and free will
Volmalric is busy contemplating the meaning of reality and free will
Meltam Perandus: Rats, I'd almost wanted to believe.
Volmalric: We should try to find signs of our previous passings
Meltam Perandus: Gentlemen. I propose a small expedition over yonder (points). It may be our means of escape once we have assembled the Spear
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 14]
Meltam Perandus: It seems the Scholar-King's memories, or prison, or menagiere is not quite without a flaw.
Slumbara looks in the direction Meltam indicated
Meltam Perandus: Of course, we can remain altert for any signs of Elk.
Volmalric: The spear?
Meltam Perandus: The Croco-tooth weapon.
Meltam Perandus: Whatever you want to call it.
Volmalric: Ah, yeah, making a spear of that would be reasonable
There is a roar in the distance, it sounds like a very large bear is irritated about something. This causes some of the nearby (as in, you can see them in the distance coming out of the tree line) elk herds get skittish and begin moving away from the sound.
Meltam Perandus: Slumbara, Plan?
Slumbara: Slumbara will circle around behind the elk, and make bear noises with my tuba
Slumbara: That will scare them and they will run in this direction
Meltam Perandus: Okay.
Slumbara readies his tuba and begins sneaking around behind the elk heard
Slumbara: Stealth 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 7]
Meltam Perandus: Stealth 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 16]
Meltam Perandus takes up some sort of sneaky position, hunting position.
Slumbara takes the mouthpiece of his tuba, and begins to make bear noises with the neck of the tuba in his mouth, using the tuba as a megaphone to amplify his terrifying bear impression!
Slumbara: Persuade 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 12]
Slumbara: ROAR!
The Elk herd gets spooked by the tuba megaphone attack and stampedes straight in the direction of the river while Delia, Volmalric, and Meltam are shocked at how well this plan works. They climb up nearby trees safely as the Elk push towards the cliffs. Several elk leap off the cliff to their gruesome deaths (being consumed by the waiting Crocodile King) while the rest of the herd turns and runs along the edge of the cliffs away from the sound of the tuba.
Volmalric: That went rather well
Volmalric: Things are looking up for us
Meltam Perandus: I haven't herd this tune before.
Slumbara's crowning moment of awesomeness and creativity is destroyed though, as a giant Kodiak bear comes lumbering out of the tree line and directly towards him, howling and bellowing.
Meltam Perandus: ....but it seems at least one can bearly stand it.
Delia: I'm rather shocked at how well that went. Well, except for the bear charging at Slumbara.
Slumbara makes bear-tuba noises back at the bear while drawing his sword

Bear seems to ignore Volmalric's pleas to not attack.
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 0 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 32]
Bear lunges forward and attempts to grapple Slumbara, while Slumbara stabs it viciously with his sword. Slumbara proves quite nimble and manages to roll to one side, keeping a firm grasp on tuba, sword, and other items and not getting curb-stomped by the bear at the same time.
Slumbara: Volmalric, can you make anything to stop a bear erection?
Volmalric: Yes
Slumbara: Anti-viagra for bears?

Slumbara makes a called shot - Penis against the bear
Slumbara does a massive overhand swing on the erect Kodiak bear penis, and manages to almost sever it. This has the immediate effect of convincing the bear it does not want to be any further part of this strange situation and it runs off as fast as its legs can carry it, trailing behind a lot of blood, shattered dreams, and the sadness of unrequited love.
Slumbara: Slumbara knows how to handle a dick
Bear: All I wanted was a hug, but no... you have to try to dismember my member...
Meltam Perandus: ...Did you play a bear love song?
Slumbara: Slumbara is not an expert on bear mating rituals
Slumbara: Bears are not native to Slumbara's homeland
Meltam Perandus: Hrm.
Meltam Perandus: Well I feel terrible now.
Slumbara: At least you weren't raped by a bear
Delia: Hey, we should call this a victory. We have managed to deal with a gigantic bear and a giant demonic crocodile and Meltam has yet to summon any horrible demonic entities that are bent on enslaving all mankind.
Slumbara: Which you may have been, had Slumbara not driven it off
Meltam Perandus: I will make a note to self that RRRARRRRR means I love you in bear.
Volmalric: Yeah, but the crocodile is going to cheat us out of a tooth
Meltam Perandus: Honestly, we should have finished it off and kicked it down the cliff.
Volmalric: It's going to give us one of the fake teeth, not the real teeth
Slumbara: Slumbara will think of something
Meltam Perandus: How do you know this?
Volmalric: Because it has two sets of teeth
Volmalric: Why would it complete its end of the bargain if it can just eat us?
Meltam Perandus: So you are saying we needed to befriend the bear so it wrestled the crocodile?
Slumbara: It is ok, Slumbara has a plan
Volmalric: I have no idea. There were 16 copies of Slumbara's card back there, so I think we've been here before. It didn't seem to be missing any of its real teeth, the shark-like inner teeth, but it was missing a few of the outter crocodile teeth
Volmalric: What's the plan?
Slumbara: An addict will do anything to get their next fix
Slumbara: If you don't like the tooth that the crocodile king gives us, Slumbara will take care of it
Meltam Perandus: Ok.....
Slumbara puts his sword away and begins to head back towards the cliffs
Meltam Perandus: I think we should scope the exit first
Slumbara: Slumbara assumes this is one of your tricks, but if you must
Slumbara keeps an eye on Meltam
Meltam Perandus: It's actually not, the crocodile should be well fed
Meltam Perandus: So we have a moment
Meltam Perandus: Observation 3EXP/3FOC Successes = 3 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 8]
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 1 Complications = 1 [2d20 = 22]
Volmalric begins looking around at some of the mushrooms growing from one of the trees, ignoring Meltam as he collects more ingredients.
Kazemi (Volmalric): Kaboom
Meltam heads in the direction of a spot he noticed earlier. Slumbara follows along carefully, watching for any signs of Sorcery from the tricky Meltam. Delia and Volmalric seem distracted looking for plants to harvest for new and exciting apothecary substances.
Slumbara notices that Meltam is making a route straight towards a broken statue that does not have the green sorcerous haze around it, almost as if there is a gap in the barrier. Meltalm fearlessly walks ahead as if nothing is unusual.
His bracelet glows greenish, which in Slumbara's mind clearly must mean sorcery is afoot! However, Meltam does not stop (unless Slumbara restains him) and crosses the barrier.
Slumbara: Observation 1EXP/1FOC Successes = 2 Complications = 0 [2d20 = 8]
Slumbara: Aha! Slumbara knew it was a trick!

Meltam Perandus: You fool! Have you learned nothing of the games of these creatures?
Slumbara: Whatever foul spell you're casting is affecting Volmalric and Delia too
Slumbara points to their bracelets
Meltam Perandus: They are happy playing with plants
