Meredeth: All right everyone! Last call!
Meredeth: We have a massive amount of cleaning AND the windows have to be fixed AND there are a few drunks we need to roll out into the streets. If you don't want to be bounced by the Angry Drunk Kushite, get your orders in or get out!
Slumbara: Slumbara has had enough
Meredeth gestures to Slumbara as the designated angry, drunk, Kushite who will enforce said directive.
Bar Patrons order or leave and behave in a very polite fashion.
Slumbara: Also, I didn't realize you had a Kushite on your staff
Slumbara looks around
Slumbara: I don't see him
Meredeth (whispers): Tonight, you are on the staff.
Slumbara: Ah, Slumbara understands
Slumbara waits until the last of the patrons have left and then collapses on the floor in the middle of the room and starts snoring
Meltam: Did someone say fix the windows?
Meltam: Don't mind if I do!
Meltam rolls a Craft test:

You did succeed!
Volmalric (whisper): Please do not use sorcery
The bar clears out, Meltam helps repair the windows, Volmalric does Volmalric things. Slumbara snores in the middle of the bar room floor.

Meltam is just being a good construction worker. Nothing to see here.
The remainder of the night passes uneventfully and... nevermind... Meltam does stuff.
Meltam used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool

Kazemi:
[1d20.11 = 11]
So.... it APPEARS the rest of the night passes uneventfully.
The next morning, Slumbara wakes up in the middle of the floor, feeling hungover (or not, up to Fen). Volmalric and Meltam wake up in their rooms, not slain by random assassins.
GM: Also, not slain by intentional, directed, or major NPCs assassins.
Slumbara: With the benefit of not being drunk, Slumbara is not sure we can trust Cilissa
Slumbara: But, on the other hand, she has lots of money to pay us
Meltam rolls a Persuade test:
Target: 10 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 1 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.20+1d20.8 = 28]
You did succeed!
Meltam: Sure you can trust her.
Slumbara: Slumbara does not trust you either
Meltam: Hrm
Meltam: You have a good point there.
Volmalric: She is certainly not a typical employer
It is early in the morning, and only a few patrons are in the bar. A Messantian nobleman walks into the Whisper Wood, looking around for a few minutes before settling down at a table near the door.
Meltam: But you should really stop by the blacksmith again and check on how your blue steel is going, no?
Slumbara: Slumbara is planning to do so
Bridgit comes out of the back and heads over to take the man's order.
Volmalric: Oh, absolutely!
Volmalric: That was a lot of value you left with him
Slumbara: No, Slumbara still has the steel

Tack:
[1d20.8 = 8]
Slumbara: Slumbara is tempted to take this back to Kush and retire from this life of violence, but Slumbara is pretty sure that you will both die if I do
Meltam: ....
Meltam: But you could start a Jazz band
Meltam: And be free!
Meltam used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool

You did succeed!
Slumbara: That is a good point
And.... well... now the campaign just totally changed.
Slumbara: Farewell my friend
Slumbara: Slumbara will pursue that great dream
Bridgit brings food and a non-alcholic beverage for the nobleman.
Meltam: I will never forget the symphony of pain you brought with your sword arm nor your tuba.
Slumbara kisses Meltam aggressively on the lips (for far too long), then turns and heads out the door
Bridgit is a little surprised to see Slumbara pack everything up and leave, but stranger things have happened in life.
The nobleman watches Slumbara leave and shrugs.
Volmalric used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool
Volmalric rolls a Persuade test:
Target: 12 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.15+1d20.19 = 34]

You did succeed!
Argala gestures to Meltam.
Meltam: Greetings.
Argala: Hey stranger, could I interest you in a breakfast and polite conversation?
Argala: My name is Argala. You are new around here I gather?
Meltam: Why yes, and the Messantian hospitality never ceases to amaze me!
Meltam: What's the talk of the town?
Meltam feels a little regretful for having convinced Slumbara to leave, but on the other hand, the local goat population will sleep easier.
Asgrim heads into the main room and sits down next to Meltam.
Asgrim: Morning to you?
Argala: Hello Asgardian, friends?
Asgrim: He carried me out of a crypt. Although, I think it might have been the Kushite I saw leaving, actually.
Asgrim is evidently going to be the disposable DPS and Tank until replacement arrives.
Volmalric: Twas the Kushite, yes
Argala: I see, well, talk of the town is a young lady named Shanla was murdered, along with a number of her guards in the graveyard. Then a bunch of Messantian town guard went to check on her was murdered also. But I doubt you know anything about that.
Meltam rolls an Observation test:
Target: 12 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 3 Momentum: 2 [1d20.3+1d20.5 = 8]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Argala: But I was wondering if you, being strangers in town, might have some unique and rare artifacts from out of town.
Volmalric: The Kushite who just left had some skulls that used to talk
Meltam: Surely, you must meet people with far greater tales, and far greater treasures than us in this town. I have nothing extraordinary.
Volmalric: What sorts of artifacts do you tend to find in small, backwater bars like this?
Argala: I'm looking specifically for a book, an old one, the kind of thing people would pick up thinking it is valuable. The right book is very valuable to me.
Meltam: This talk of murder has me on edge, what would motivate such a crime in this lovely town of plenty?
Asgrim: I don't know, I had a dream about a book and it ended with my friend being murdered in a tomb.
Argala: Sounds fascinating.
Volmalric: I'd think Messantia wasn't quite as lawless as that, given the reputation of this great city, but I suppose times might be changing?
Argala: Sorry for missing your questions, but to answer your question, some nobles consider life is cheap.
Volmalric: Has to have been quite a few bandits or something like that, right?
Argala: Bandits? Maybe. Would you know anything about bandits?
Volmalric: You should ask his friend
Meltam: Knowledge is a dangerous thing.
Meltam: Hrm. I see some things do not change between places.
Meltam: I can safely say the book no longer exists.
Argala looks at Meltam, seems crestfallen.
Argala: Hmm... are you sure?
Meltam: Fairly confident.
Argala: And are you sure the book I seek is the one you are referring to?
Meltam: Asgrim here was looking for a book; older than memory can recall. The book sorta poofed out of this world.
Meltam: You seem like one whom would seek something of that impeccable vintage.
Volmalric: Hopefully such a tome remains out of this world, too
Argala: Ah, very... curious. Poof as in fire? The book I seek is probably fireproof.
Volmalric: No, but there was something else which left this world like that
Meltam: I am naive to the ways of sorcery. It vanished.
Rhotinia: A tall slender Ophiri woman strides into the Inn. She is wearing a fine silk robe over a suit of gilded armor, and wearing a longbow across her back
Bridgit: Greetings stranger! Welcome to the Whisper Wood Inn. What can I get for you?
Meltam rolls a Discipline test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.11+1d20.9 = 20]
You did succeed!
Bridgit seems suitably impressed by this stranger's apparent wealth and good manners.
Meltam takes a look at the newcomer.
Rhotinia: I require whatever passes for food here, plus water for my horse
Rhotinia: And I suppose a decent wine would be too much to ask for
Bridgit: Absolutely, I hope it is suitable to your palate.
Rhotinia: But if you can find something...
Bridgit: Umm.... we have some Messantian vinatges, I shall bring one of the options for you to taste.
Rhotinia looks at Meltam
Rhotinia: What, you've never seen a woman before?
Bridgit gets food and drink for Rhotinia.
Rhotinia: Pick up your jaw or speak
Sophie appears outside the inn, takes care of the horse.
Rhotinia: Or is staring not considered rude here
Bridgit: He's, uh, special needs.
Meltam: I uh...
Rhotinia shrugs and sits down
Meltam: Im sorry
Tack (Meltam): TypeException():
Bridgit deposits food and drink for her.
Bridgit: Here you are, ma'am.
Rhotinia: Thank you, most kind
Rhotinia accepts the food and sighs, before reluctantly eating
Rhotinia speaks to Meltam without facing him
Rhotinia: Your apology is accepted, forgive my curtness I have been on the road for many days
Meltam rolls a Society test:

Rhotinia offers Meltam a handshake
Meltam: Yes, sorry. I too have been living an odd life of sorts.
Volmalric (murmur): Huh, she hasn't stabbed him yet
Meltam: Forgivness please. I am Meltam, this is Volmalric. You are a strange sight in the hussle of this town.
Asgrim: I'm a little worried, I feel insecure being in the absence of violence.
Rhotinia picks up her food and comes over to the table with Meltam, Volmalric, and others
Volmalric turns back to the nobleman
Volmalric: And by the way, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Volmaric, alchemist and sage
Meltam rolls an Observation test:
Target: 12 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.19+1d20.7 = 26]

You succeeded and generated momentum!
Rhotinia: Pleased to meet you, I am called Rhotinia. I trade in silks, spices and other of lifes little neccessities
Rhotinia: You are an odd looking bunch
Meltam: Are you dissapointed in finding such variety in the port of the world, madame?
Argala: I am honored to meet the acquaintance of a distant trader. I happen to have come to this place looking for information, and these men seem to have some for me.
Rhotinia: A Bossonian, an Aquilonian, an Asgardian... Throw in a Kushite and we'd look like a tapestry
Volmalric rolls an Observation test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.16+1d20.18 = 34]
You did not succeed.
Rhotinia (to Argala): Forgive my interruption then, please continue your conversation
Rhotinia: I am famished from the road as it is
Rhotinia nods her head politely and picks at her food a bit more
Argala looks at a napkin and raises an eyebrow at it, appears to be so shocked that he knocks over his glass and it causes the napkin to be completely drenched and stained.
Bridgit: How is the food, your ladyship?
Bridgit brings a selection of three different wines.
Meltam: So here on a shopping trip then, Rhotinia? Finding everything you need here?
Rhotinia: After such a long time on the road, a piece of stale bread would be a feast fit for a caliph
Rhotinia tastes the wines
Rhotinia: This one please, I do not care for the others
Rhotinia gives Bridgit a very generous tip
Argala: Oh, I think I am about done here. Should you find a "book", perhaps an ancient scroll that is long and covered in odd glyphs, if you would kindly mention it to my friend Adolphus, I would appreciate it. He will know how to get in contact with me.
Argala stands, bows, and departs (unless someone wants to throw questions at him first).
Meltam: If you are interested in the glyphs in an academic, scholarly sense, you may wish to visit the tomb.
Bridgit: Ah, would you like the bottle, or just the glass, your ladyship?
Rhotinia: The glass is sufficient
Meltam: Those have endured Mitra knows how long; they will be there for you.
Meltam rolls a Society test:
Target: 11 Focus: 4 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.14+1d20.19 = 33]
You did not succeed.
Bridgit: Very well ma'am, please enjoy.
Tack (Meltam): ZING
Rhotinia (to Meltam): My business here is my own, unless you have much greater wealth than it appears
Meltam: Wealth comes in many forms, and many measures.
Rhotinia: Gold is what is relevant in this case
Asgrim: So, gentlemen, you have any ideas on what we need to take care of?
Asgrim: And, um, where is Slumbara?
Meltam: Oh. I imagine this town will be hopping soon enough.
Rhotinia: So unless you happen to know any obscenely weathly nobles who can afford a barge full of Corinthian leather...
Sophie walks into the room as Rhotinia is saying that.
Sophie: The horse is stabled and watered.
Sophie looks at Rhotinia.
Rhotinia: Thank you my dear
Rhotinia tosses Sophie another generous tip
Sophie does not react as the coins hit her and drop to the ground.
Sophie: Maybe. How many cubits and what treatment level? Does it qualify as Ophirean hardened, or decorative?
Bridgit goes over and picks up the coins.
Bridgit looks at Rhotinia.
Bridgit: Sorry if my sister bothers you ma'am, I'll make sure she gets these later.
Rhotinia: She is an Ophiri warhorse, a finer steed you will not find often
Volmalric: Slumbara has returned home, by the looks of it. You'll have to ask Meltam for more details later
Sophie: She is a fine animal, and you seem to take good care of her
Rhotinia: Yes, she has been with me for a very long time
Sophie: But I was asking about the barge of leather.
Asgrim: Oh, uh, Slumbara was, kind of useful in my experiences with you guys.
Bridgit grabs Sophie's arm.
Rhotinia looks at a small card
Bridgit: Come on, let the nice lady eat in peace, she doesn't need to be bothered with your questions.
Meltam: Yeah, it's really sort of a bummer, but gotta follow your passions eh?
Rhotinia: Slumbara? Is that the madman that gave me this?
Rhotinia holds up one of Slumbara's business cards
Rhotinia: He was with you?
Meltam: Yep
Volmalric: He'll be missed more than he know
Rhotinia: I passed him on the way into town, he was riding a gilded horse playing a blue tuba and handing these out
Sophie: I happen to know someone who is looking for 1000 cubits of hardened Ophirean leather, if this woman can broker the deal, I will continue talking to her.
Rhotinia: Strange man...
Sophie brushes off Bridgit and pushes her away.
Volmalric: Strange, yes. But formidable
Meltam: Bane of Demon and Man alike. A force of destruction.
Rhotinia (to Sophie): If you know a buyer interested in 1000 cubits of leather, then I picked a very good bar to walk into
Bridgit "harrumphs" and walks away.
Rhotinia: It is hardened Corinthian, 20 weight, cured in Ophir
Sophie: Yes I do. Will you be staying here or is there somewhere else he should meet you at?
Rhotinia: I will be here
Sophie nods in understanding.
Meltam rolls a Stealth test:
Target: 14 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.13+1d20.7 = 20]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Sophie: I shall relay this to him.
Rhotinia bows graciously
Sophie bows back, and leaves through the front door.
Volmalric: So, what sorts of things do you trade in, Miss Rhotinia?
Rhotinia: Silks, spices, leathers and wine mostly
Rhotinia: But anything of value can be traded
Meltam: Surely, you are looking for some hired muscle to ensure that all of your business dealings in town go as planned?
Volmalric: Any medicinals as well, or just culinary?
Rhotinia chuckles politely
Rhotinia: I have fought in wars before you were born boy
Asgrim looks at Meltam.
Meltam: Aye, I surmised as much from how you carry such a fine bow. But the hazards of the battlefield and those of the streets can be different.
Meltam rolls a Persuade test:
Target: 10 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.1+1d20.19 = 20]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Asgrim: I'm not sure you qualify as hired muscle, but I like where you are going with this.
Asgrim is in his mid-30s, FYI.
Rhotinia (to Volmalric): I have been known to buy and sell medicinal herbs, but rarely in large quantities. There just isn't much profit in it
Rhotinia rolls a Discipline test:
Target: 11 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.4+1d20.9 = 13]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Rhotinia (to Meltam): You are cute. I would hardly call you muscle, but you seem to know the city
Rhotinia: You might be useful in helping find a buyer if this deal falls through
Asgrim thinks about saying something, checks status as, "Disposable NPC", thinks better of it and resumes drinking some orange juice.
Meltam: Excellent.
Rhotinia regards Asgrim
Rhotinia: This one looks like the muscle
Asgrim: I can swing a sword, milady.
Rhotinia buys a carafe of wine for her new friends at the table
Meltam used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool
