Savage Worlds Ruleset for Fantasy Grounds II
(c) 2009 Pinnacle Entertainment Group.
Kazuki: Ooooh!
Kazuki: These are pretty neat marbles
Kazuki leans over the merchant's display
Hida Sashimi: Smarts [1d6 = 11]
Hida Sashimi: Hello everyone. Know of any good places to eat?
Kuutai: ...
Hida Sashimi slowly waddles toward the group
Kazuki finishes purchasing the marbles
Kazuki: There's some pretty good sushi down the road a bit
Hida Sashimi: Mmmm sushi
Quorteth (Kuutai): THis better?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): so Ikuko is Fen, Kazuki is Mike, and Kuutai is Tack?
Feneril (Ikuko): Aye
Quorteth (Kuutai): Yepz
Kazemi (Kazuki): hai
Hida Sashimi: So, who are you and what brings you to wherever it is we are now?
You find yourself in the capital city of the Iron Dynasty, the huge metropolis of Zuiichi, deep within the heart of Ikusa Kokoro.
The market is busy and crowded as buyers look for good deals and sellers hawk their wares.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): With this many hawks around, the cleaning people must be very busy
Hida Sashimi: So, who are you and what brings you to wherever it is we are now?
Hida Sashimi: *Zuiichi
Kuutai: I have no real name. I have come here to see the city some call great, and yet, all I see is vanity.
Kuutai: You?
Kuutai Laughs manaically at people.
Hida Sashimi: I am Hida, but most know me as Sashimi. For I am a great food connossieur
In the distance, the great Imperial Palace looms, the seven great Shinjin stand as silent guards.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Tack's playing another emo player. Great :/
Kazuki: So, what do people normally call you, if you have no name?
Kazuki: can I call you "Feathers"?
Kuutai: Sure, call me whatever you want. All names are Void.
Kuutai: And you? what is the nothing ascribed to your person?
Kazuki: Aren't names the opposite of void, giving substance and concept where there was none?
Ikuko rides slowly through the market atop an exquisite white horse, wearing a very fine silk traveling robe. There are five guardsmen wearing the colors of House Gyoshen around her horse and a dozen servants following in tow. The crowd parts to make way as she passes.
Kazuki is no longer paying attention to Kuutai
Kuutai: Hrm...Is that really all that impressive?
TADM: Given that it is the first horse you have seen in two days, probably.
Kuutai: One of you with food, one of you with flesh...how pitiful.
Kazuki: Oh, so sad, yes
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazuki: Hmm
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 7]
Kazuki: I think she sees more nothing than you
Ikuko's eyes are cloudly all the way though and the color of pressed gold bars.
GM: Kazuki notices that the crowd is not as dense as normal and it seems that finding weapons and metal workers seems a bit harder than normal.
Ikuko is forced to stop as her entourage cannot squeeze past the minotaur and freaky bird-headed person standing in front of her.
Ikuko: Daichi, why have we stopped?
Daichi: Your ladyship, the crowd is getting thicker here and we want to make sure you can pass safely.
Kuutai steps aside.
Kazuki: Sorry about that. You're fortunate the crowd's a bit thinner than usual. You might have an easier time of making it through.
GM: A woman steps forward in front of Daichi wearing an elegant green kimono emblazoned with the mon of family Magami.
Toroko: Sumimasen.
Toroko bows.
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [1d6 = 7]
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 7]
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 3]
Ikuko: Yes my lady?
Hida Sashimi: Smarts [1d6 = 9]
Toroko: I have been asked to find the following people in the bazaar.
Toroko gets out a scroll.
Toroko bows to Ikuko.
Toroko: I believe you are Gyoshen Ikuko.
Ikuko: So do I, I hope we are not mistaken
Toroko smiles.
Toroko: I have been asked to invite you to the Magami estate this afternoon to meet with her ladyship.
Toroko: And I was wondering if I could enlist some of your servants to help me find these others...
Toroko looks at scroll.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 11]
Kazuki: That one would be me
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 11]
Ikuko: Isamu, Akemi, Hiroki. Kindly assist Toroko with her search
Toroko: Oh good, that is one down, now there are just two others...
Toroko: I am looking for someone named Sashimi and a strange onmyoji named Kuutai.
Kuutai: Sounds...Fishy.
Kazemi (Kazuki): dun dun, ching
Kuutai steps forward
Hida Sashimi: Greetings.
Kuutai: There are some that know Kuutai.
Toroko gives Kuutai an appraising look.
Toroko: So are you sometimes known as he?
Kuutai: Yes.
Toroko: Excellent, then I have completed my duty. Please come to the Magami estate no later than two hours hence. It is the small estate just to the north of the bazaar on Winding Way.
Toroko bows to the group.
Ikuko bows to Toroko
Hida Sashimi bows to Toroko
Kuutai makes no gestures
Daichi: Your ladyship, we passed that estate earlier, I know exactly where it is.
Ikuko: That is good Daichi
Ikuko: I would not want to disrespect the lady Magami by keeping her waiting
Ikuko: You should all accompany me as well, it would be a great disrespect for commoners to turn down an invitation from a noble house.
Kazuki laughs
Hida Sashimi: No disrespect, but I consider myself uncommon
Kazuki: If you would like assistance making your way over there you need only ask, Ikuko-san
Kuutai: Why yes....It seems...proper. Thank you.
Kuutai: Persuasion (Defining Interest (Puppetry) +1) [1d6+1 = 16]
Kuutai appears to go with Ikuko amicably
Kuutai: How Noble of thee to offer us guidance.
Ikuko: Daichi, I leave it to you to lead us back to lady Magami's estate
Daichi: Hai!
Ikuko: Satsuki, do be a dear and take down a letter for me while we walk.
Satsuki: Hai!
Daichi leads everyone to the Magami estate.
Ikuko: Tell my father that I have located Lady Magami, it should give me an opportunity to catch up on family happenings.
Ikuko: And that it is good we have friends all the way in the capital
Satsuki: Hai!
Ikuko: Streetwise {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+6 = 10]
Satsuki writes down, "Dear Daddy, I am lost in the capital and some lady named Magami found me before I could be robbed and killed in the marketplace. Love you, hugs and kisses, Ikuko."
Hida Sashimi: Streetwise {+2 Merchant (Buy/Sell)} [1d8+2 = 21]
GM: Okay, so Hida Sashimi finds the REALLY good Sushi bar.
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 8]
Kazuki: Untrained {-2 Untrained} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-2 = 3]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Well, thats becasue you grew up in modern culture.
Quorteth (Kuutai): If you'd grown up somewhere or when else, you'd probably find heavier people > others.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Sumo wrestlers don't count
The Magami estate is not incredibly large, but very well maintained in the old style of the Bright Empire. Small gardens and well-groomed bonzai trees decorate the front entrance, as the two story main house is further to the back. Toroko is surprised to see you arrive so quickly and rushes out to meet you.
Toroko: Thank you for being so prompt.
Toroko bows again.
Toroko: Her ladyship is not ready to meet with you just yet, I will be honored to take you to the tea room.
Ikuko bows
Toroko gestures for everyone to follow her.
Kuutai: Notice (Defining Interest (Heraldry +1) [1d10+1 = 6]
Ikuko: Of course
Kuutai follows
Ikuko beckons for one of her servants to help her dismount.
Daichi assists Ikuko with dismounting.
Kazuki follows
Ikuko: Thank you, Daichi and Shora will accompany me, the rest of you may relax in the garden until our return.
Shora: Hai
Ikuko follows after Toroko with two of her guardsmen.
Satsuki directs the rest of the servants to hang out, groom the horse, and not be obstrusive.
Hida Sashimi: Common Knowldge (+1) [1d6+1 = 9]
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [1d6 = 2]
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 9]
Kuutai: So...What brings people to Zuiichi?
Kuutai: Just while we wait.
Toroko directs everyone inside to a small room.
Toroko: It will be a short while. Do you need any refreshments? We have tea and snacks available this time of day.
Hida Sashimi: Yes please. To both
Ikuko: My father grew tired of my suitors imposing on his hospitality, so he sent me out to impose upon theirs for a while.
Hida Sashimi: Tea Ceremony {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 3]
GM: The small tea room is simple yet elegant in its decorations. The walls have pictures of oceans and plains that are rather soothing to look at.
TADM: (For those of you with working eyeballs)
Feneril (Ikuko): the room is black, just like all other rooms.
Feneril (Ikuko): black and dark and featureless
Kazuki: Tea will be fine
Kuutai: I am fine. Thank you though.
The occupants of the room are Kuutai, Kazuki, Hida Sashimi, Ikuko, two burly guards (Daichi and Shora), and a small girl dressed in black who is strumming a tune on an exquisite looking biwa in the corner.
Hida Sashimi sets out his finest chopsticks, and his personal tea cup
Toroko leaves for a few minutes, then returns with assorted teas and delicious snacks.
Kuutai: What of you two? What brings you here?
Kazuki: Oh, wow, this looks great
Toroko: It shall be a few more minutes, thank you for your patience.
Toroko leaves.
Kuutai (Mildy_Impatient): You must tell me!
Kazuki: I was hoping to explore the world a bit more
Kazuki: I've always been around here and I want to see what's important in the grand scheme of things
Kazuki: It's kind of boring being a pawn, you know
Hida Sashimi: As was I. I am in constant search for the greatest culinary delights of our land
Kazuki drinks his tea
GM: The tea and snacks are delicious
Kazuki: These snacks are delicious
Hida Sashimi: Food {+1 Def. Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 6]
Daichi gives tea cup to Ikuko after sniffing it for obvious poisons.
Ikuko: Thank you Daichi
Ikuko drinks the tea patiently.
Kazuki: You're quite cautious, but I don't think our host would need to resort to poison
Ikuko: To what do you refer?
Daichi: Habit, sir.
Kazuki nods
Hida Sashimi: Very delicious. The orange blossom is a nice touch to this tea, and everything has just the right amount of sweetness
Kazemi (Kazuki): how old is Ikuko?
Feneril (Ikuko): 17
Feneril (Ikuko): And 5'9"
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 7]
Quorteth (Kuutai): (physical descriptions of other two)
TADM: And for the record, Kazuki has never seen anyone nearly as attractive as Ikuko.
Kazuki is average sized. He seems to carry himself well enough, more like a warrior despite his attitude. Although he seems easily distracted, his attention is usually bouncing around. He's dressed in a plain grey kimono with sandals and has been wearing a steel mask on his head. He has only a single red bag and what appears to be a sickle-and-chain in his obi
Kazuki the kusari-gama is tucked out of sight, you just rolled well on the original notice checks
Hida Sashimi is a rather large man. Not vertically, but horizontally. You see no obvious weapons, but he does posess many pairs of chopsticks of various materials and styles. He is dressed in a silk kimono with sandals
Quorteth (Kuutai): Okay. Saw mikes description.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Any others?
Ikuko is very tall and lithe. She has youth, beauty and class. And she knows it, her abundant confidence is plainly evident in her gait. Her golden hair and eyes mark her as a pure-blooded Ka. She is wearing a very fine Kimono decorated in the colors of House Gyoshen and carries a large ornamental fan with her family heraldrly emblazoned on it.
Kuutai is in everyway non-descript, becasue there isn't much of him not covered by tattered clothing. A faint odor of rot seems to follow in his wake.
Kazuki has dark-ish hair and blue eyes. Also, that bag mentioned earlier is very impromptu, like a knapsack.
Toroko reappears.
Toroko: Apologies again for the delay, if you would follow me upstairs.
Kazuki: Of course
Kuutai: As thee wishests...
Kazuki: what?
Kuutai: Persuasion (Defining Interest (Puppetry) +1) [1d4+1 = 3]
Kuutai: Just keep going. =)
Ikuko takes Daichi's arm and follows Toroko.
Hida Sashimi follows last, as stairways tend to be a tight fit
GM: The stairway is not a problem, as it is quite large and wide enough for about 10 normal people.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Egao is smile.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): 6 levels of fatness: Big, Healthy, Husky, Fluffy, DAMN!, and OH HELL NO!
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Sashimi is Fluffy
Quorteth (Kuutai): 'Call the Zoo'
You reach the upstairs and are taken to a a suite that occupies the entire upstairs north wing. You are brought to an elegant bedroom where an impressively-sized bed (by Konoyo standards) is there.
Hida Sashimi: Ah ha! Today, one of my greatest opponents has been defeated! *glares at the stairs in triumph*
Nick (Hida Sashimi): No, i don't say that out loud
There are three attendants near the bed. Reclining in the bed is a woman of indeterminate age. Her mouth is flecked with blood, her skin is yellow and wrinkled, her eyes are flat and milky and her raven colored hair is in scraggly clumps.
Lin Magami coughs.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Hrm, i figured liking fish so much, most of your encounters would be scaled.
Lin Magami: I apologize...for not rising to greet my guests.
Lin Magami hacks up some blood.
Daichi (whispers): Your ladyship, we should probably stay back until we are sure it is not contagious.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Um no. One of my greatest opponents is the all you can eat buffet
Hida Sashimi has been awarded a benny
TADM: Okay, that was benny-worthy.
Ikuko: You do not sound well my lady, do not exert yourself on our behalf.
Ikuko bows to Magami.
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d6+1 = 5]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): If they run out of food or go out of business before I finish, I win
Lin Magami: I am dying Ikuko. I definitely am not well.
Lin Magami coughs again. A servant steps forward with a bowl to collect blood before it makes an even bigger mess on the bed.
Ikuko: I am saddened to learn of your passing, your family has always been a friend to mine.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+7 = 15]
Lin Magami: Yes, well, as long as you don't know the same dark secrets of the Iron Dynasty as I do, this is not contagious.
Lin Magami: But...I have a task to ask of you...you who think you are total strangers.
Lin Magami coughs again.
Kazuki face glasses over and loses its emotion for a moment. He bows to Magami
Kazuki: Of course
Kuutai (Excited): Did someone say.....Secrets?
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 12]
Kazuki ignores Kuutai
Ikuko: I am glad to help in any way I can.
Lin Magami: My child is not safe in Zuiichi, or even Ikusa Kokoro. I need you to take him to his great-uncle, Elder Tie, who runs the Sleeping Loon Academy in the town of Nihana, in Sorimizu.
Kuutai: Why yes...surely we could take on any task given....but....in exchange, I am quite curious to hear of these....secrets...
Lin Magami looks at Kuutai.
Lin Magami: No...you aren't.
Kuutai: Are you....sure?
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 9]
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 9]
Ikuko: Silence, let lady Magami speak.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d6+7 = 12]
Lin Magami gestures to a servant as she sinks back into her bed.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): brb
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 3]
GM: A servant steps forward with two scroll cases and hands them to Shora (well, actually Ikuko, but Shora takes them)
Lin Magami: If you deliver those, and my child, to Elder Tie, he will reward you.
Lin Magami: My servants will prepare food and assist you for your journey. The sooner you start, the better.
Lin Magami begins hacking like an 80 year old 4-pack a day smoker.
Kazuki: It would be our honor.
Ikuko: Of course, we will leave as soon as we are able.
Lin Magami: Wait...one more thing...
Lin Magami gestures to Ikuko with a crippled, arthritic hand.
Kazuki glances at Ikuko
Lin Magami: The Magami are no longer welcome in Zuiichi. My relatives have all fled or died from the Ikusans. I have drawn up the necessary paperwork for the estate to fall to you, Ikuko Gyoshen.
Lin Magami gurgles.
Lin Magami: My it serve you well.
Ikuko bows.
Lin Magami passes out.
Ikuko: May you find peace at last, lady Magami.
Toroko: Her ladyship is indisposed, please return to the tea room with me.
Toroko gestures for everyone to leave as quickly as possible, while also giving the new Lady of the House a very deep and respectful bow.
Kuutai (Irked_mumbles): Secrets....knowledge.....
Ikuko: Certainly. Shora, keep those scrolls safe until we reach Nihana
Shora: Hai
Kuutai mumbles to himself.
Kazuki bows to Lin Magami and follows
Shora determines the stab-able nature of the surly, smelly, fellow, and wonders if skewering him is outside his current list of job duties.
Hida Sashimi: I'm not sure what's going on, but we should leave as soon as we can
GM: Upon your return to the tea room, the girl in the corner playing the biwa is still there. There is also a small but particularly intelligent looking boy of about 5 years of age there. He is packed and ready for travel.
Botan bows to the group.
Ikuko: Toroko, if there are any papers that I must sign please see that they are presented to Satsuki, she is my scribe
Toroko: Yes your ladyship.
Toroko finds Satsuki and gets everything notarized and prepared.
Kuutai: Well well, hasn't fortune smiled upon you this day, Ikuko
Ikuko: How do you mean?
Ikuko: Oh the estate?
Kuutai: Yes...have fun with all these....things.
Ikuko: It is kind of Lady Magami to gift it to me, but my father has many such estates and I suspect this was more for her families benefit than mine
Chiri: She is a clever and cagey one, the tall blind blonde.
Chiri sneers as she resumes playing her biwa.
Botan looks irritated at the biwa player, but says nothing.
Ikuko: Now, where is the lady's son, we must prepare him for his journey to Nihana
Kazuki: He's already here
Daichi: And looks ready to travel.
Ikuko gestures for Daichi to lead her to the boy.
Daichi leads Ikuko over to Botan.
Ikuko kneels in front of Botan.
Kazuki: It would probably be best if we left with him quietly. It seems this estate and its members have some unwanted attention
Ikuko: A mother's passing is a difficult thing to overcome, I know because I lost my mother as well, but those born to great houses do not have the luxury of pity or grief. We must be strong for all those who follow us. So you must be strong and journey with us to Nihana, your uncle will see to your well being from now on.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 8]
Botan nods.
Kuutai cackles uncontrollably
Botan: It has been expected since her 26th birthday, four months ago.
Chiri: A fatal draught doth cure the secret ills.
Chiri resumes playing her biwa.
Botan: I am ready to leave when you are, your ladyship.
Kazuki: Liberal use of the word "cure", there
Ikuko nods to Botan.
Kazemi (Kazuki): how is Botan dressed?
Chiri: Words are but sounds that provide transitory meaning between states of existence, lost one.
Kazemi (Kazuki): er, the kid. Whichever one he is
Kazemi (Kazuki): I seem to be unsure
Botan is dressed in relatively plain clothes with a small pack on his back and a straw hat. He looks like a merchant's child.
Ikuko: Words are power over men. My father taught me that swords may win battles, but words win kingdoms.
Kazuki laughs
Kuutai: Yes....What..Uncommon Knowledge. Seeing as you have...inherited this house, does the Biwa player come with it?
Chiri: She is not a thing to be bandied with, void dog.
Chiri slides off the chair, slings the biwa over her back and storms out of the room.
Botan: My cousin....is...a difficult person.
Kazuki: Take care!
Botan: I apologize for her.
Kazuki bows as she leaves
Ikuko: You need not, if I felt the need to apologize for every member of my house I would forever have apologies on my tongue
Kazuki heads back over to take his bag back.
Kazuki eats a snack
TADM: Botan being Lin's child that needs to be escorted, if anyone was lost.
Toroko returns.
Toroko: Satsuki and I have finished the paperwork, your ladyship.
Toroko: Is there anything you need of the household?
Ikuko: Thank you. We require provisions for our journey to Nihana
Ikuko: I suspect Sashimi will need a great many provisions
Ikuko: Akemi can see to the specifics
Toroko: I shall see it done, your ladyship.
Toroko fidgets.
Toroko: Umm...your ladyship, might I make a request?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): How does Ikuko know I'm large?
Ikuko: Of course.
Kazemi (Kazuki): the ground shakes when you walk
TADM: Maybe she can hear your footfalls?
Feneril (Ikuko): And because I heard your critique of the snacks
Hida Sashimi: Despite my size, I can make do if necessary, my dear lady.
Kazuki: It'd be better if it wasn't necessary, though
Toroko: I do not wish to impose, but the household staff and I were wondering if you could possibly take Chiri with you also? She is quite bitter and the passing of Lady Magami is wearing enough on our nerves. In the absence of Lady Lin, Botan, and yourself, she would be in charge of the estate...and...well....
Toroko drifts off into silence.
Ikuko: I understand.
Kuutai: Yes...We shall take her. Tis a shame things started off on a sour note, but we will change the tune soon enough.
Chiri throws a biwa pick at Kuutai and kills him.
TADM: (just kidding)
Ikuko: Toroko, you will be the head steward of the estate in my absense, and Chiri will accompany me as a ward
Toroko: Yes, your ladyship.
Toroko bows.
Kazemi (Kazuki): he's already dead, how can he die again?
Kazuki: Do you want a new robe, Kuutai?
Kazuki: Your Kimono is pretty abysmal
Ikuko: Botan, come with us. We must depart soon to get you to your uncle.
Kuutai: No thanks...I find the vanity of this place hard enough to bear without being part of it.
Ikuko is led by Daichi back towards the horses.
Kuutai: Some welcome....comforts.....
Ikuko: If you want to see vanity you should meet my sister
Kuutai: is shocked.
Kuutai: That is....most disgusting....
Quorteth (Kuutai): nice pic.
TADM: (The above will make for some hilarious out of context reading in a chat log)
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 10]
Kazuki glances at Ikuto and shakes his head
Kazemi (Kazuki): derp, Ikuko
Botan: Yes.
Botan follows Ikuko.
Kazuki follows after
Kazuki: Agility Trick [1d8 = 6]
Kazuki juggles several marbles as they walk, putting them away as they make it out into the estate
Kuutai: Where is the high strung one...the biwa player? We must not leave without her
It takes a while, but provisions are packed on a pair of mules, Ikuko's throng of servants gathers, and everyone is ready to go.
Chiri shows up, dressed completely in black silk attire with a flowing black cloak and it looks like the sleeves of her garment wrap around themselves to the point where there are normally about 10' long.
Ikuko mounts her horse with Daichi's assistance.
Kazemi (Kazuki): how long is the journey expected to take?
Feneril (Ikuko): 1 random encounter
GM: Nah, more like 5 set encounters and some random ones.
Feneril (Ikuko): lol
Kuutai: Shall we be off?
Chiri: Ah yes, a blind Ka on a horse, a horde of followers, a Void dog, a clueless, and a fatty. They shall never be spotted leaving the city.
Chiri: Perhaps they should disguise themselves in a cunningly concealed herd of Tsuno?
Ikuko: If I had wished to go unseen I would never have left home.
Chiri: Did you leave home, or were kicked out?
Kazuki: Left
Toroko: Right...well...good luck.
Toroko waves as everyone leaves.
Kazuki: You as well
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 7]
Ikuko waves to Toroko.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Botan waves good-bye to Toroko.
Ikuko: Take care of the estate, and write to Elder Gyoshen if you have any financial issues in my absense.
GM: The group leaves the Magami estate and heads out into Zuiichi. Despite the size of the group and its oddity, no one stops you or seems to take any special notice of the group.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Time of day?
GM: Leaving through the city gates is also not an issue, and soon you are on the road, following it southwest towards Sorimizu.
TADM: It is mid-afternoon.
GM: And if anyone wants to do anything in Zuiichi before you leave town, let me know.
Botan walks along beside Ikuko's horse.
Kuutai: Whew...that city is quite the eyesore, I am glad to be rid of it.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Critical failure!] [1d6+2 = 3]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 4]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 2]
Kazemi (Kazuki): this is where I stop
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = 2]
Kuutai: Tell me, is Sorimizu as.....cosmopolitan as Zuiichi?
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 10]
Kuutai: Anyone? No one knows of this city? You must tell me!
Ikuko: Nihana is a small settlement
Kazuki: Nothing is as cosmopolitan as Zuiichi
Kuutai: I see.
Kazuki: It's the capital of the world, what would you expect?
Ikuko: Ha
Ikuko: I think the court's of Tetsu Sangaku could give Zuiichi a run for it's money
Ikuko: No one is as rich as a Tetsun lord
Kuutai: Very well.
Kazuki: and No one is as powerful as the Old Wolf
Kuutai: Or so it is said....
Ikuko: Power is a fickle thing, always falling out of balance.
Chiri: The Old Wolf grasps at power and his fists squeezes it from his grasp as he tightens his fingers.
Kuutai: Chiri....Perhaps you could play a song?
Chiri breaks into a nice song about a group of people who get brutally devoured by baku in the swamps of Tahata Gaki while a crazed monk cheers about blood making the swamp grow.
Kuutai: Bravo!
Daichi: Your ladyship, we have found strange companions for you.
Daichi: I am not sure your father would approve.
Ikuko: That is very lovely Chiri, one day I shall have to send you to my sister's court to play it for her and her new husband
Kazuki: If I may ask, who is your sister?
Ikuko: I have several
Chiri: Yes, the Gyoshen are prolific, like rabbits.
Ikuko: But in this case, I was thinking of my dear elder sister Issiko.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Ah! It's Risako! Let's stay away from her!!
TADM: Which one?
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 9]
Kazuki: And who is she married to now? I'm curious to hear who might appreciate that song
Ikuko: I have never met her husband, but it was a political marriage and I doubt he loves her half as much as I do.
Kuutai: Blessings of so called civilization......Mhwahhahah
Chiri: Down, down they all burned, with the fires of hatred fueling their mad lust.
Kuutai: Yes.....yes......
Chiri strums a haunting melody on her biwa.
Kazuki: I hope her opinion of him is better than yours, for her sake at least.
Kuutai appears to like this song too much.
GM: The group has traveled for a few hours and is just begining to setup camp when a patrol of 8 Red Wolves (i.e. Ikusan Soldiers) comes down the road and calls for the group to halt.
Red Wolf: Halt for inspection please.
Red Wolf gestures for everyone to stop.
Kazuki stops
Kazuki: Is there anything new going on in the area?
Ikuko: Of course, but do please make it quick we are in something of a rush.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 20]
Kazuki shields his eyes from Ikuko
Red Wolf: Understood your ladyship, but we have strict orders to search all people heading from Zuiichi to Sorimizu.
Red Wolf: We are looking for someone who has been declared an Enemy of the State by the Void Walkers.
Red Wolf gestures for the other soldiers to check the people in the group.
Kazuki: Oh, dear
Kuutai: Hrm...
Kazuki: Perhaps we should've gotten some more bodyguards..
Chiri: What state is this person an enemy of? Perhaps Sanity if Void Walkers are involved?
Quorteth (Kuutai): Who could it be now....
Red Wolf: Silence you.
Chiri: She does not take to being told to silence.
Kazuki: She does that to everyone
Red Wolf: I pity you.
Ikuko (to Butan): Serving boy, go to Akemi and bring me a skin of wine while we wait. I grow bored.
Ikuko: Streetwise {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+6 = 12]
Botan heads off to Akemi.
Red Wolf: Notice [1d6 = 9]
Red Wolf: You, boy, what is your name?
Botan turns around.
Botan: Me sir?
Ikuko: Silence boy, I did not give you permission to speak.
Ikuko: Shall I have you caned again?
Botan bows to Ikuko.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kazemi (Kazuki): caned
Kazemi (Kazuki): because your blind
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Red Wolf walks over to Botan.
Red Wolf: I asked you a question, boy.
Botan: D10 [1d10 = 2]
Ikuko: His name is Taiki, he is my newest servant. And I am trying to teach him the impropriety of addressing his superiors.
Kuutai: Muwahhaah, trapped between two supposed....authorities....
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 17]
Ikuko: And you are interfering.
Botan convincingly looks more scared of Ikuko than the Red Wolf.
Chiri: Now that's a stretch....
Red Wolf: Taiki...hmmm???
Red Wolf looks at Botan.
Red Wolf: Show me your left arm, "Taiki"
Botan looks at Ikuko for direction.
Ikuko shakes her head slightly while speaking.
Ikuko: Do as he says, boy.
Ikuko: Streetwise {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+6 = 9]
Chiri: And then their pelts were used for blankets, sewn together by a mad void mage for his clothes.
Botan holds out left arm.
Red Wolf: Nice birthmark, very distinctive.
Red Wolf: You are coming with us, "Taiki"
Kuutai Bursts out in laughter.
Kuutai: These adults are funny! Fighting over a child!
Chiri manages to strum a note on her biwa that sounds chillingly like a wolf's howl.
Red Wolf grabs Botan.
Daichi: Your ladyship, I believe this is not going to end well...
Kazuki lowers his mask onto his face
Kuutai: Beast Wins. Brutality.
Ikuko: I agree, do what you must.
Red Wolf screams in pain as he pulls back a stump and the hand that was holding Botan drops to the ground next to the boy.
Hida Sashimi removes a pair of steel chopsticks from his sash
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kuutai licks his lips.
Kazuki: I guess even packs of wolves have their predators
Hida Sashimi: Even the wolf is not at the top of the food chain

Red Wolf #1 steps forward and stabs Kazuki for what will be a painfully fatal blow.
Kazuki is using a benny
TADM: And I need to stop rolling Aces on katana damage.

Ikuko: And you eat with those?
Kuutai (shaken)
Kazuki: I hope you won't eat with those
Kuutai: Spirit [1d6 = 16]
Kazemi (Kazuki): why couldn't I get that on my Vigor roll?

Kazemi (Kazuki): whew
Kazuki's mask falls off in awe
Kazuki: Woah
A blast of black energy erupts from Kuutai and disintegrates the two nearest him, leaving nothing but little black stains on the ground. The one next to Kazuki screams in terror as black lightning erupts from his chest and splatters goo over a wide area.
Kuutai: Delcious SOULS for the VOID!
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} (*urk* +3) [1d6+4 = 8]

Ikuko: I know. I am blind, my sense of smell was not affected.
Ikuko: yuto attacks 8 again
Yuto: [1d6 = 4]
Yuto: [2d8 = 9]

Quorteth (Kuutai): Run! Its godzilla!
Quorteth (Kuutai): the beast with many mouths!
Red Wolf appears completely oblivious to what is said and keeps running. Then he screams in pain and pitches forward with an Aidachi sticking out the back of his head.
Round 3
Dealing cards...
Ikuko
Ikuko: Surrender now and tell us what you know and your death will be painless.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 17]
Red Wolf is too busy trembling in fear to possibly respond.
Kazuki (shaken)
Ikuko shrugs.
Kazuki: Spirit (Wound Penalty -3) [1d6-3 = 8]
Kazuki pulls out a kusari-gama, getting the chain spinning as he moves into position. He launches it at the remaining soldier

Kazuki: Kusari-gama damage [2d6 = 10]
Kuutai: I never tire of the resistance of the weak!
Ikuko: Daichi, did his death look painless to you?
Kuutai: Muhuhahahah!
Daichi: More or less...
Ikuko: Then I suppose he did not lose anything by refusing my offer
Daichi: We also lost Manabu and Isamu in the combat.
Ikuko: I am saddened
Chiri: And with Isamu, you can send one half to his mistress and the other to his wife.
Ikuko: Is Butan all right?
Kuutai: Chiri, are your people not skilled in herbal remedies?
Botan: Yes your ladyship.
Chiri scoffs.
Ikuko: I wish I had known about your birthmark before we departed
Kazuki: Ow
Kazuki collapses
Chiri: What is pain to one of the Void? Is not all pain transitory? For all ends in chaos, void dog.
Chiri walks over to Kazuki.
Chiri: Wimp.
Kazuki: You weren't even on the map
Chiri kicks him a couple times.
Hida Sashimi: Streetwise {+2 Merchant (Buy/Sell)} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 11]
Kazuki: I dont' want to hear it from you
Chiri: Fine, then no healing poultices that she brought from the Magami estate for you. For she does not like being ridiculed.
Chiri: Unless you wish to beg.
Kazuki: Persuasion [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Can I please live?
Chiri: Can you sing?
Kazuki coughs up blood to that bloody tune from earlier
Ikuko: Chiri, it would not do for him to die. You should aide him if you can.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+6 = 10]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 10]
Chiri sighs.
Kazemi (Kazuki): you do NOT want to roll a one on persuasion
Chiri makes an incredibly disrespectful gesture at Ikuko.
Ikuko does not notice.
Chiri (dripping sarcasm): Yes, your tedious barbarity.
Daichi: HEY! Show some respect!
Chiri opens up a satchel and shoves several herbs that look like broccoli in Kazuki's mouth.
Chiri: Chew those.
Chiri walks off.
Kazuki chews
Daichi: You ladyship, I think she is in need of a good caning.
Shora: I second that opinion.
Kuutai: Chiri, the pain is nothing, all is nothing, but this husk...must endure. Fix it.
Ikuko: It would be a waste of time to attempt to reshape her behavior, it would be better to simply redirect her hostility towards our mutal enemies
Ikuko takes some makeup out of her saddlebags.
Ikuko: Botan, come here.
Botan walks over.
Ikuko: Satsuki, please be my eyes for a moment.
Quorteth (Kuutai): that arm looks tasty....
Ikuko: Persuasion (as disguise) {+8 Charisma, -6 Blindness} [1d12+2 = 21]
Ikuko applies some makeup to Botan's birthmark to conceal it.
Botan is now disguised as a little Swedish girl, complete with blond hair and pony tails.
Botan: Umm...I'm not sure my mother would approve.
Chiri: How cute!
Ikuko: It does us no good for you to be recognized
Ikuko: You must learn to suffer indignity with dignity if you are to be a great lord.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Critical failure!] [1d12+6 = 7]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 21]
Botan: As you wish, your Ladyship.
Hida Sashimi: Maybe we should do that for Chiri, too. Might change her disposition
Hida Sashimi: It's strange that Chiri is never Cheery
Quorteth (Kuutai): ba dum dum
Chiri: She thinks the Fat One should sniff his rice carefully in the future.
Campaign saved.

Savage Worlds Ruleset for Fantasy Grounds II
(c) 2009 Pinnacle Entertainment Group.
Kazuki seems sullen and miserable after the battle and despondently mopes about with Ikuko's servants that trail behind the group.
GM: The rest of the day passes in relative silence, from a planned or unplanned encounter point of view.
TADM: Unleash the shenanigans!
Feneril (Ikuko): is Q coming into vent or was he just asking about the address out of curiosity?
TADM: I assume he has a morbid curiosity concerning IP addresses.
Feneril (Ikuko): could be, that is normal in our line of work
TADM: Perhaps he is trying to develop the l33t skill of converting them into IPv6 off the top of his head while engaging in a drinking game. Oh wait...that would be me.
Feneril (Ikuko): It is easy to make up IPv6 addresses as long as you don't care about maximizing the number you can have
Feneril (Ikuko): On my lab gear, I just do 20::01/2/3/4/5...
TADM: Where would the group like to camp?
Kuutai: Survival (Battle Dammage -1) [1d4-1 = 2]
TADM: By the side of the road, way off the road, on the middle of the road?
TADM: Across the street from the Chinese take out place?
Quorteth (Kuutai): There!
Feneril (Ikuko): My retainers have about half a dozen tents, so we are not going to be inconspicuous...
Kuutai: We should....set up camp away from the road, lest more of these simpletons....slow us.
Hida Sashimi: Agreed
GM: Persuasion {-5 Charisma} [1d10-5 = -1]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 2]
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-8 = -5]
GM: Hida Sashimi does not see any good restaurants in the area.
Ikuko: I will leave the selection of the campsite to you.
GM: Ikuko "sees" that everything here looks like everything else.
Daichi picks a suitable spot on slightly higher ground off the road.
Daichi: That looks good.
Ikuko: I'll take your word for it.
Chiri sings a nice ballad while playing her biwa that involves a freak lightning strike which kills a bunch of people sleeping in tents out in the open.
Quorteth (Kuutai): An electrifying performance.
Botan dutifully follows whatever instructions he is given, acting as a good servant.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): So, it's her version of ThunderStruck?
Kuutai: Botan, Have thee knoweldge of healing herbs, as befits your house?
TADM: Actually, her playing and singing voice are quite nice, its her topic that is highly disturbing.
Kuutai: You would not want your.....escorts...to be in pain, would thee?
Botan: Survival [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Ikuko: Yuto, please ask Botan and Chiri to join me in my tent.
Botan: D6 [1d6 = 2]
Kazuki: Do I count as an escort?
Botan hands Kuutai a small dried up herb.
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -1) [1d10-1 = 7]
Kuutai: Tell me what this is.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 12]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Kazemi (Kazuki): on the herb
Botan: Here, my cousin said this is a good one.
Kuutai: But you know nothing else of it? Curses....
Kuutai snatches up the herb
Kazemi (Kazuki): is it very dishonorable to touch corpses?
GM: In Kazuki's expert opinion, it looks like the ones he just ate.
Kazemi (Kazuki): assuming you guys didn't loot them already
GM: In the Iron Dynasty, no.
Kazuki: That stuff's great
Kazuki loots the corpses
Kuutai slips the herb under his mask and eats
Botan joins Ikuko in her large tent that is assembled by the servants.
Kazuki whistles as he rumages through the corpses
Kuutai: Kazuki, have you fire with you?
Kuutai: We should not let these corpses rot.
Kazuki: I agree
Kazuki: I do not suggest taking the armor
Kazuki: Kinda screams "MURDERERS HERE"
Kazuki: but the Katana and Wakizashi are probably good for use
Kuutai shrugs
Kuutai: bury whatever we cannot use immediately.
Kazemi (Kazuki): is the armor flamible?
Kazemi (Kazuki): (this is for future reference)
Hida Sashimi joins whoever else is in the large tent
Kazuki: Yessir
Hida Sashimi: Tea Ceremony {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 5]
GM: Ikusan armor is flammable, as it is very traditional Japanese, i.e. bamboo, leather, cloth
Kazemi (Kazuki): hell yeah, I'm getting fireworks in the next town
Kazemi (Kazuki): lolololol
Kazemi (Kazuki): brb after food
Kuutai scoffs at the 'civilized people' in tents, and builds a pyre.
Chiri does a macabre dance around the fire, hooting and hollering while spinning wildly.
Kuutai (Prayerful): From the black when you came, Back you return again.
Kuutai laughs fiendishly
Chiri: Into the great nothingness shall they return, the yawning maw of nothing to which we all return.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 11]
Kuutai: Chiri, you have...a way beyond those....simple folk.
Botan: Your ladyship, Hida Sashimi has prepared a wonderful tea ceremony for us. Would you like to join him?
Ikuko: You go Botan, I must speak with your cousin. Please ask her to come to my tent on your way out.
Botan: Yes your ladyship.
Botan goes to tell Chiri to speak with Ikuko. Then sits down to learn the fine art of Tea Ceremony from Hida Sashimi.
Botan bows to Hida Sashimi.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Hida Sashimi Wait, I made it for everyone? This is my usual personal serving size lol
TADM: Botan is small and doesn't drink much, he's good to share.
Botan: I wish to join and observe, as you seem skilled in this form of etiquette.
Chiri wanders into the tent with Ikuko.
Hida Sashimi attempts to teach some of the finer points to Botan
Chiri speaks quite loudly.
Chiri: You want to speak at her, your most lordly worshipfulness?
Hida Sashimi: Unskilled {-2 Unskilled} [1d6-2 = 3]
Botan watches with fascination at Hida Sashimi's moves, and if Hida makes a mistake, politely ignores it.
Daichi walks over to Kuutai.
Hida Sashimi: Would you like to try, Botan?
Daichi: Where are you from, that you can throw black streams of magic like that?
Botan: Yes sir, please correct my missteps as I make them.
Kuutai: I am from no where you are not also from......
Kuutai: You just haven't....realized what this dream is...
Daichi: Hmm...I would guess you are a Void Onmyoji...but I cannot place your accent.
Kuutai cackles insanely
Daichi: Although I would go with Tahata Gaki for now.
Kuutai: I do not seem to recall what....region I hail from.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): I think we should call Kuutai a OMNOMyoji, since it's Tack's character
Kuutai: What does such a thing matter?
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 25]
Chiri sullenly storms out of Ikuko's tent.
Kuutai: What a talented child.
Ikuko comes out of the tent.
Botan performs a tea ceremony adequately under Hida Sashimi's guidance.
Botan: Thank you sir, for helping me.
Hida Sashimi: You are very welcome.
Daichi walks over to Ikuko.
Daichi: Is everything okay your ladyship?
Ikuko: Of course, I was simply getting to know our two young companions
Ikuko: Chiri is such a sweet girl, don't you think?
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 10]
Daichi: Absolutely your ladyship, without question.
Satsuki: Your ladyship, the servants are organized and settled for the night. Is there anything more you require?
Ikuko: Come with me into my tent, I must dictate a letter to my father.
Satsuki: Certainly your ladyship.
Satsuki follows Ikuko into the tent.
Kazemi (Kazuki): back
Ten hours pass, and the sun rises.
TADM: Those with power points, adjust accordingly.
Kazemi (Kazuki): sorry about that
Ikuko: Streetwise {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 22]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Satsuki writes, "Dear daddy, going to Sorimizu to meet with a nice man named Tie. We had a fight today but I was unharmed so everything is okay. Escorting a nice child who is very polite. He has a snobby obnoxious sister. Love you. Hugs and Kisses. Ikuko."
Kuutai: Come. Let us not dawdle.
GM: And one other thing happens that evening before we start moving the next morning....
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazemi (Kazuki): damn
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = 6]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 8]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 4]
GM: At one point in the night, Ikuko wakes up and thinks she hears something like a whisper on the wind.
GM: Hida gets a faint whiff of alcohol and really fine grade sushi. It is enough to wake him up from dreaming of large rolls of fatty tuna.
GM: And then it is time for the group to move on...
Daichi: Pack all this stuff up! Move it. We have a long road to Sorimizu.
Ikuko mounts her horse with Yuto's help.
Satsuki organizes the servants to pack up the tents and other stuff.
Ikuko: Daichi, did you hear anything strange in the night?
Botan assists Ikuko and pretends to be a good servant.
Daichi: No your ladyship. I was busy watching the sweet girl that you so expertly pointed out to me last night.
Kazuki packs his things back into his bag
Ikuko: It must have been my imagination, you know how easily we women fright in the dark.
Kuutai: Wait...That...I don't even.
Daichi gives her a curious look, which she does not even notice.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Ikuko: Just because I am blind does not make the night less frightening.
Daichi: Yes, your ladyship.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 23]
GM: The entire Iron Dynasty is now convinced that Ikuko is afraid of the dark.
Kuutai: I agree. The unknown, endless dark is scary, and I feel no affinity with it. =|
Kuutai is confused beyond measure
Kazuki: So, are you going to make any of that for the rest of us?
Kazemi (Kazuki): to Sashimi
Kazuki doesn't even blink
Chiri plays a happy, uplifting tune on her biwa, which revolves around slaughtering animals for food.
Kazemi (Kazuki): who has better food, Akemi or Sashimi?
Hida Sashimi has been awarded a benny
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 10]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): MOAR PUNS!!!
TADM: Okay, the Iron Chef pun is worthy of a benny.
Kuutai: Oh, how eternity is in love with time, how we must kill to live....The maddness! MWhaahh!
Nick (Hida Sashimi): "Today, I decline the title of Iron Cook, and instead take the lesser title of Zinc Saucier, which I just made up. Also, it pays double prize money"
The group moves on, after a few hours you come to a small copse of trees at a bend in the road. A small stream wends along the road to the north. There is a man in a tattered and stained kimono lying by the side of the road. As the group approaches he rises and staggers onto the road.
Drunkard: Hey there...
Drunkard: Does you have shome money...
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 5]
Drunkard: I iz broke and needs some drink.
Hida Sashimi: resemblance to drunkard L5R guy whose name escapes me
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): damn
Ikuko: That is unfortunate for you, perhaps you should have spent your money more wisely
GM: Neither Kazuki nor Kuutai notice a horde of bandits ready to descend upon them.
Ikuko: I suggest you go sleep off this drunken stupor.
GM: And there is no sign of towns in the distance.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 28]
Hida Sashimi: I don't know. Great sake is sometimes worth a great expense
Drunkard laughs and looks at Ikuko.
Drunkard: Oh. My. God.
Drunkard: Are you blind?
Drunkard: My god woman! Your socks don't even match!
Drunkard: Wow.
Kazuki: Is there really anyplace to purchase booze from around here?
Ikuko: He does not seem drunk
Drunkard staggers to the left.
Drunkard: And your sister on the horse next to you...geesh...you both look horrible.
Ikuko looks confused.
Daichi: There does not seem to be anywhere around here to purchase alcohol.
Drunkard: Let me try this on you...
Drunkard makes a strange gesture to Ikuko.
Kazuki is ready to intercept
Drunkard: Silly woman, you will take off all your clothes!
Drunkard: Persuasion {+2 Acting} [1d6+2 = 12]
Drunkard: And put on something respectable.
Chiri laughs.
Chiri: She finds him most amusing, can they keep him?
Ikuko: No
Kuutai: Awwww....
Daichi: Your ladyship, shall I move the riffraff off the road?
Kazuki blocks sight of Ikuko with his mask
Drunkard looks at Kazuki.
Kazuki smiles
Ikuko: Please do, Kuutai, would you be so kind as to assist.
Drunkard: Hey, don't I know you? You owe me money.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 11]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Chiri, may I suggest that you....relieve this man's drunkeness, such that we may really judge his character....
Kazuki: shrugs
Kuutai: Certainly, you have some....medicine for this.
Kazuki shrugs
Chiri: She does not.
Kazuki: What's your name?
Drunkard: Hey, you don't have money. Well then, I take servants in payment.
Drunkard points at Botan.
Drunkard: That would make us even.
Kazuki: Not my servant, sorry
Ikuko: I should think not.
Chiri looks at Kuutai.
Chiri: Besides, she can tell that he is as drunk as you are.
Drunkard: Well, what do you need the boy for?
Drunkard: Servants are cheap, and I need someone to carry my sake barrel.
Ikuko: Perhaps I fancy small boys. What do you care.
Drunkard scratches beard.
Kazemi (Kazuki): does he have a barrel?
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 10]
Drunkard: Once I remember where it is.
Drunkard: Well, how about I fancy you. Men can do things small boys can't.
Drunkard belches.
Ikuko: Like get drunk and throw up all over my possessions
Drunkard looks at Ikuko.
Drunkard: Oh, that was you!
Drunkard: I knew you looked familiar.
Drunkard: So 20 bu and we roll in the hay again?
Chiri laughs hysterically.
Ikuko: 200,000 to my father and you can marry me
Ikuko: But I was sent off to find a weathly and powerful husband, not a drunken man by the side of the road
Drunkard: For 200,000 I would hope you come with respectable clothes.
Drunkard retches.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 3]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 7]
Drunkard: Besides...I'm pretty sure that anyone lurking around with the Gyoshen mon is a black widow.
Drunkard laughs and staggers off.
Drunkard falls in the stream.
Drunkard: Woohoo! Water!
Daichi: Let's move along, your ladyship.
Hida Sashimi: Knowledge (Underworld) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 7]
Ikuko: Agreed.
Kuutai: Notice (Defining Interest (Heraldry +1) [1d10+1 = 10]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Anything on this Drunk? Symbols, logos, mons?
Kazuki: So, what's your name?
Kazuki: This hardly seems the place for a drunkard
Daichi guides Ikuko's horse along the road.
Drunkard: Name? What are names?
Drunkard: And you take care of that little boy. He looks like a good sake carrier.
Drunkard: I might come find him again later.
Drunkard belches contentedly and seems to pass out.
Kuutai: This man is not the louse he seems.
Kazuki approaches the body cautiously
Kazuki: leaving his bag on the ground by the group
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazemi (Kazuki): is he pretending?
GM: Most definitely.
Kazemi (Kazuki): also, does he have a bag or anything on him?
GM: There is a katana in a black scabbard within arm's reach on the bank of the stream where he is "passed out."
Kazemi (Kazuki): is it within his arm's reach?
GM: Most definitely. And when you look at it, his arm flaps out and grabs the handle.
Kazuki laughs
Kazuki: You are quite a character
GM: His legs are in the stream. The stream itself is only about 1 foot deep.
Quorteth (Kuutai): hes going to use a waterflow technique!
Kuutai grows impatient
Kazemi (Kazuki): anything descriptive on the scabard?
GM: Nope.
Kuutai: Do not toy with us, you are much beyond this, man of the shadows.
Kuutai: Why are you here, or are you just continuing your game?
Kazuki glances back at Kuutai "Do you mean me"?
Hida Sashimi: Let us move on. We have much to do, and he is just wasting our time
Kuutai: No, this act, not you.
Kazuki: Ah, OK
Kuutai: Quiet, go stuff some food in that hole.
Chiri laughs.
Chiri: Ikuko, she thinks they have found the ideal man for you. Neither of you are really what you physically appear to be.
Kazuki: Care for a hand in standing up?
Kazuki offers his hand to the drunkard
Chiri: She thinks you wouldn't even need to pretend you were someone else while making love, you already pretend to be someone else.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Goodbye hand. We barely knew ye
Drunkard sighs and belches contentedly.
Ikuko: I doubt my father would approve Chiri, but I thank you for your council
Drunkard pops open an eye.
Drunkard: Nah, I like it here.
Drunkard: Warm, cool, sunny.
Drunkard retches.
Kuutai: Very Well. Pleasant Dreams.......
Drunkard: And I need a bath.
Ikuko: I agree
Kazuki: Can't argue
Drunkard looks at Kazuki with a strangely steel gaze that seems somewhat familiar.
Drunkard: And next we meet, at least have her wear matching socks.
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 8]
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 7]
Ikuko pulls her socks off and hands them to Daichi
Drunkard: Spirit {+2 vs. Arcane} [1d6+2 = 13]
Ikuko: Put 50 bu in these and throw them to the drunken man.
Drunkard laughs at Kuutai's feeble spellcasting attempt.
Ikuko: A gift for the amusment he has provided
Daichi: Yes your ladyship.
Ikuko: Now, we must be leaving. Come.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 14]
Daichi tosses bu laden socks at the Drunkard.
Kazuki: Fighting [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki knocks the socks out of trajectory, catches them, and removes the money
Daichi: Hey!
Daichi: That's theft of her ladyship's money.
Kazuki: Nonsense! You discarded it!
Kazuki: and why do these socks not match?
Daichi: She is free to distribute money to whatever insulting drunken riffraff we find
Daichi: I have no idea why the socks don't match.
Ikuko: Nor do I, for the record
Ikuko: But he seemed oddly fixated on them
Shora: I believe we should cane the servant responsible for dressing her ladyship.
Kazuki puts the bu back in and tosses them down to the drunkard
Ikuko: Now, now Shora. That is a bit hasty. Particularly when no one seems to be able to tell what about the socks is mismatched.
Kuutai: They would, but it might be an off-colour comment. :3
Ikuko: Besides, I'm sure you were watching me dress as well, and I haven't asked for you to be caned.
Shora: I do not watch your ladyship getting dressed.
Kazuki: She can sense lies with Persuasion, you know
Shora looks offended.
GM: The rest of the day passes quietly. You hear wolves howling in the distance when the group camps for the night.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki: Well, I'm sleeping in a tree tonight
Kazuki: I'd rather not get eaten alive in my sleep, thank you very much
GM: Sashimi hears four distinct wolf howls.
Ikuko: I'm sure you would be killed before you were eaten
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kuutai: How can you sleep in a tree?
Hida Sashimi: I don't care for wolves. Hard to cook properly, and the meat is usually tough
Kazuki: They're great for catching more meat, though
Kazuki: Excellent partners in hunting
Chiri: Wolves are also used to track and hunt people by the Ikusan army.
Chiri: She wonders if you are so stupid, you do not realize that whole "wolf" mon...allies with the intelligent black wolf packs...etc.
Kazemi (Kazuki): are they coming from behind us?
Kuutai: last time I saw wolf served, the place was packed.
Chiri: Persuasion {-5 Charisma} [1d10-5 = 13]
Kazuki: So, two options: we set out a decoy or we set an ambush
Chiri sings a fantastically amazing song and riveting song about Kazuki being torn limb from limb by wolves. She also manages to make her single biwa sound like an entire orchestra.
TADM: In other words, she managed to pull 2 raises on the roll, even after her -5 Charisma penalty.
Ikuko sings along with Chiri.
TADM: She's the anti-Ikuko!.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Singing) +1) [1d12+7 = 9]
Kazuki looks a bit disturbed that Ikuko joined in
Botan is awe-struck at how awesome they both are at singing.
GM: The servants gather and all movement stops as everyone listens.
Satsuki writes, "Dear Daddy, I believe I have a career in the music industry, and I'm going to go compete on Dynasty Idol. Love you. Hugs and Kisses. Ikuko."
Kazuki: Lemme know when food's ready, I'll be back
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 5]
Kazuki leaps up into a tree
Kazuki: Stealth [Critical failure!] [1d8 = 1]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 5]
Kazuki: Stealth [Critical failure!] [1]
Kazemi (Kazuki): picking out which tree is the best for sleeping on
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazuki tries to climb a tree, hits his head on a branch, swears profusely and loudly. Then he slides down the tree, tries again, and successfully manages to make it to the second limb without injury.
Chiri claps.
Kuutai: I see he is barked there for the eve
Chiri looks at Kuutai.
Chiri: When he is reborn as a monkey, she thinks he can be spotted by noting which one lacks grace.
Kuutai: Wha, maybe you want to branch out and sleep up there too.
Kuutai: Ahhahaahhaahha
Kuutai: Yes indeed.
Ikuko: Do not injure yourself Kazuki, I would miss you terribly if you fell from a tree and died.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 9]
Kazuki (in_the_trees): Duly noted
Kazuki ("in): the trees" Hey, anyone have spare fabric down there?
Kazuki (in the trees): I want to make a hammock
Botan finds a spare blanket and tosses it to Kazuki.
Kazuki (in the trees): Thanks, Botan, I owe you one
Chiri grabs Botan.
Chiri: Next time she will cane you if you do not give her the blanket first so she can rub some itching powder in it first.
Chiri: She thinks it is good for building character.
Botan: Not all of us want character like yours.
Kuutai: Oh really?
Botan heads off to help Ikuko with whatever she needs, as he prefers to avoid Chiri entanglements.
Kuutai: You should take notice of genuine character...lady Ikuko has brainwashed you with...vanity.
Botan: Actually, really high persuasion checks...
Ikuko: Oh, sweet Kuutai, I adore you just as you are and would not want to change you one bit.
Kazuki (in the trees): I think Kuutai just requested iching powder
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+7 = 12]
Chiri sits in the tree beneath Kazuki and plays a haunting melody that is just enough off-key that it is impossible to get comfortable or sleep for anyone within 30'
GM: Everyone else moves out of earshot.
Kuutai: Who shall be on watch this eve?
Ikuko: I think perhaps one of you would be the wise choice.
Kuutai: very well.
Kazemi (Kazuki): how high is the tree?
Ikuko: Not that I do not wish to contribute, but keeping watch might not be my greatest strength
Daichi: Shora, Yuto, and I usually watch, but you are welcome to join us.
Kuutai: I see.
GM: The tree is 20' tall, and can only support your weight to about 8' up.
Ikuko: I do not
Kazemi (Kazuki): can I travel to other trees from this tree?
GM: Nope.
Kazemi (Kazuki): what if I use the blanket as a glider?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): brb afk
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): nm, successful smarts check
Kazemi (Kazuki): going to have to wait for Fatigue to set in first
GM: You could construct a rudimentary parachute.
Kuutai: Wake me at the very bottom of the night.
Chiri: Vigor [1d6 = 11]
Daichi: Yes sir.
Chiri sings, "Don't worry, it builds character to go without sleep. You pansy, pathetic, tool."
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 3]
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 6]
Daichi: Your ladyship...do you want to see if you can convince that sweet, adorable, girl which you pointed out to me and is actually quite lovely, to stop terrorizing Kazuki?
Kazuki successfully decends the tree
Chiri: Oh, done being a monkey?
Ikuko: Of course.
Ikuko: Oh Chiri, might I have a word with you in private my dear?
Botan: Hida Sashimi sir, I was wondering if you had any other tips on etiquette and tea ceremony to share?
Kazuki points to Ikuku
Chiri: Oh certainly. She loves your conversations, just as she loves being set on fire.
Kazuki: You've been called, ma'am
Chiri: Persuasion {-5 Charisma} [1d10-5 = 8]
Kazuki heads over to Botan and Sashimi
Kuutai: Hrm...tea.....Could I get a cup of that, Sashimi?
Chiri does a fantastically amazing imitation of Ikuko's voice.
Chiri: Servants, dress me in socks that match today!
Chiri: Servants, attend my needs.
Chiri: Servants! Make sure she does not defecate on her kimono because she doesn't realize it is in the way!
Daichi: THAT'S ENOUGH!
Kuutai: fufufufu.....
Ikuko: No need to get angry Daichi
Ikuko: Every court I have ever attended has a fool who makes their living in this way
Daichi: Yes your ladyship.
Daichi chuckles.
Hida Sashimi: Certainly, to both of you
Ikuko: They are always welcome in my sister's court, for example.
Kuutai: thank you very mat'cha.
Chiri: Who's the greater fool, the fool, or the one who follows her?
Hida Sashimi: Tea Ceremony {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 8]
Chiri: Or, as my sensei always said, "Never have a battle of wits with an unarmed person."
Hida Sashimi: and for teaching...
Chiri stomps off into the night.
Hida Sashimi: Unskilled {-2 Unskilled} [1d4-2 = 1]
Hida Sashimi is using a benny
Hida Sashimi: Unskilled {-2 Unskilled} [1d6-2 = 1]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): damn. again
Botan watches and patiently tries to learn the fine art of tea ceremony from Hida Sashimi.
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 10]
Kuutai: Seems you are not steeped in as much knowledge as you claim, fat man....
GM: Barring player induced hijinks, the night passes uneventfully. You hear the wolves several times in the night, but they do not seem to be getting any closer.
Kazuki attempts to decipher the code to Sashimi's instructions
Kuutai: Ah....that was a nice nothingness of sleep.....
GM: The next morning dawns, everyone packs up and heads out. The day is sunny and bright.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): So, something bad must happen today.
Kuutai: How much longer till we get to Nihana?
Kuutai: I don't like this....daylight thing.
Kazuki: But...your head is eternally swathed in shadows anyways
Kuutai: ....
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
The group treks along, nothing strange or unusual happens. The group sets camp for the night.
Kuutai: This time, pawns of Ikuko, Wake me in the dead of night
Kuutai: I am most displeased at the lack of being woken.
Daichi: Sure.
Daichi: I will make sure Shora wakes you up.
Kuutai: Excellent.
GM: Shora wakes up Kuutai when it is time for his shift.
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 8]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 10]
Kazemi (Kazuki): are there wolves tonight?
GM: All right. So Kuutai has glowing red eyes.
GM: You do not hear any wolves.
Kazemi (Kazuki): my worries just switched gears
Kazemi (Kazuki): lolololol
Kuutai: Give me your secrets, night. Let mother void show me what lies in this blackness!
Chiri challenges Hida Sashimi to a game of Shogi.
Hida Sashimi: Gambling [1d4 = 5]
The next morning everyone packs up and moves along the road. Around mid-morning they spot a patrol of Ikusans in the distance. There is a light Kikai with them, which appears to be broken down. A Ganso is working on it.
Kazemi (Kazuki): LOOT
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazuki counts about 50 Ikusans and 2 Void Walkers among the group around the Kikai.
Kazuki: We're going around
Kazuki: That's not our loot
Kazuki: I mean, if you guys want to go through I can bring Botan around the side and avoid all of this
Kazuki: but then I'm pretty sure you'd all die
Kuutai: Well, I agree.
Daichi: I agree with Kazuki that we need to go around that group. Give them plenty of space to work on their Kikai and all.
Kuutai: But someone should at least get some...information from them.
Daichi: That would be...not her Ladyship.
Kazuki: Not me
Hida Sashimi: Nor I
Kazuki: Plus, if those Void Walkers see Kuutai they're going to gut him like a fish
Kazuki: and then they're going to gut all of us like fish just to be on the safe side
Ikuko: I doubt they would harm me under normal circumstances, but we did recently kill a large patrol of their soldiers, it might be best not to make their aquaintenance
Kuutai: You are going to make Hida Hungry, Kazuki
Kazuki: Also, you're with Kuutai, who they are predispositioned to annihilate
Daichi: Well, we can take this side path up into the hills.
Daichi gestures to a smaller road leading towards Sorimizu that is not as direct a route.
Kuutai: Oh sure.....Let's be sane....I guess.
Kuutai shrugs
Chiri: In an insane world, who judges sanity?
Ikuko: I'm sure the mountain route will be most scenic.
Kuutai: You do, apparently. Good at it too.
Chiri laughs at Kuutai.
Daichi guides Ikuko, Botan, and the servants to follow the side road where it splits off from the main one.
TADM: TPK Averted!
Chiri follows along behind the group.
Kuutai: I am curious....
Kazemi (Kazuki): brb
Chiri: Which is lethal to felines.
Kuutai: Perhaps they knew they hit paydirt when the first squad....
Kuutai: Lucky for us their machine god failed....
Kuutai cackles
GM: The rest of the day passes uneventfully. The following one does as well, in fact, other than a small group of deer grazing a ways off the road, you do not see anything really interesting at all.
Kazemi (Kazuki): back
Kuutai Looks mischevious
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 10]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 9]
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d6 = 16]
Kazuki: So, Sashimi, where did you get those neat chop-sticks?
Was distracted counting...it will take another 10 days of travel or so to reach Nihana.
Hida Sashimi: I had them custom made. Sometimes, the ones provided are of inferior quality
Hida Sashimi: So, I use my own whenever I dine
Botan: They are very nice looking. Perhaps in the future I shall have a set made for myself.
Hida Sashimi searches through his bag
Hida Sashimi: You may have these. I will admit, they are not as good quality-wise as the ones you saw, but they will do. In a pinch. Hoho
Botan: Thank you sir.
Botan bows and takes the chopsticks.
Kuutai: I'm bamboo-zled by your chopsticks.
Chiri wishes she was Xiu Li so she could in-character punch Kuutai.
The next morning you enter the mountains that mark the border between Ikusa Kokoro and Sorimizu. The path narrows but continues on through the mountains. You reach a section of the road where you are following what looks like a dried up river bed, there are cliffs on either side of you, about ten feet up. Halfway through the gorge you see a flamboyantly dressed man with bright red clothes heading towards you.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 9]
Kuutai: Notice (Defining Interest (Heraldry +1) [1d10+1 = 20]
Daichi: Ladyship, there is a flamboyantly dressed man with bright red clothes who is slightly obese and appears to be carrying no weapons heading towards us.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
Kuutai explains to the group.
Kuutai: That's Orziji. Ikuko had better be careful, he will most likely try to steal from you.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 4]
Kuutai: Our best chance is to tell him there is a huge patrol with a machine he can plunder.
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 11]
GM: Kazuki agrees with what Kuutai is saying.
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [1d6 = 11]
Orziji walks up to the group.
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Underworld) [1d6 = 5]
Orziji: Ha ha! Well met good travelers! I am Orziji. And for the privilege of traveling down this road, I make the simple demand of 20% of your wealth.
Orziji: You may pay in equipment or bu, either works.
Ikuko: I am afraid that I carry very little wealth with me, I am not possessed of great strength and it would trouble me greatly to carry large sums.
Orziji looks at Ikuko.
Orziji: Well, your ladyship, I can think of another way for you to pay, but only if you are willing.
Ikuko: If you mean what you seem to imply, then I fear you would not meet my father's approval
Orziji shrugs.
Orziji: Well, the pity is mine.
Orziji: But I am not one to force anything other then the forfeit of money from such a beautiful specimen of womanhood.
Ikuko: You would rob a blind girl and pretend to have honor? What a shame...
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 15]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 11]
Orziji: Smarts [1d6 = 17]
Orziji: Hmm...I would rob a blind girl who has more servants than I have fingers...
Orziji: But...hmm....
Orziji looks thoughtful.
Kazuki: Well, while we don't have much in the ways of actual money....
Orziji: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Orziji spots Botan.
Orziji: Wait!
Orziji: It is him!
Orziji: Give me the child and we shall call it even.
Kazemi (Kazuki): is Orziji actually in striking distance?
Botan: Err...
Ikuko: No
GM: Heck no. He's a bandit, not an idiot.
Ikuko: Why should I give you the boy?
Orziji: After speaking with an old seer in the mountains, I had a vision of this boy. He is a Ka child and able to open the door to a tomb near here. I have heard the tomb contains great riches.
Orziji: Riches that should be distributed to the needy and not buried away.
Kuutai Is impressed.
Ikuko: He is far needier than you, he has lost his family and his home, and it is he who can open the tomb. He should recieve the lion's share of whatever wealth is contained within.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 14]
Orziji shrugs.
Orziji: Smarts [1d6 = 16]
Kazuki: Perhaps, though, you would consider some information?
Orziji: Certainly. I shall be happy to split the haul with him. 30% of him, 70% to me. It is only fair.
Orziji looks at Kazuki.
Orziji: Or information, what manner of information do you seek?
Kazuki: There's a patrol to the east with a broken down Kikai
Hida Sashimi: Forgive me, Lady Ikuko. But I do not think kind words will work on him. Let me speak with him
Kazuki: One doesn't get many chances to loot that
Ikuko: Of course Hida
Orziji: Heh, there is a full regiment of Ikusans with four Kikai at the border to Sorimizu, straight down this road.
Hida Sashimi walks toward Orziji
Orziji: They are searching everyone and everything that comes through.
Orziji looks at Hida Sashimi.
Kuutai: Strange, I thought there was a big 'one way' sign on Hidas mouth.....
Orziji: A man who likes good food. Well met!
Hida Sashimi: Please, sir. You do not want to delay us on our journey. It would be unwise for "everyone" involved
Hida Sashimi: Intimidation [1d6 = 8]
Hida Sashimi is using a benny
Hida Sashimi: Intimidation [1d6 = 2]
Orziji: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Orziji ponders Hida's words.
Orziji: Hmm...this journey would only be a couple days out of your way.
Orziji: But...there is much need for speed in your journey?
Orziji looks carefully at Hida.
Hida Sashimi: Not so much speed as lack of needless delays
Orziji: Hmm...well then.
Orziji looks at Ikuko.
Orziji: Very well, your companion is very persuasive. Give me 500 bu and we shall call it even.
Hida Sashimi: 50
Hida Sashimi: Intimidation [1d6 = 5]
Orziji: Smarts [1d8 = 2]
Orziji: 375?
Hida Sashimi: 80
Orziji: I cannot possibly go below 350. I have fifteen mouths to feed at home.
Ikuko: Why must we sully this with monetary transactions, how about a kiss and a lady's favor?
Ikuko produces a silk kerchief.
Orziji: Hmm...
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+6 = 13]
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 17]
Orziji: Ah! Deal.
Orziji: Smarts [1d8 = 5]
Hida Sashimi: I shall make sure to remember that you can be a reasonable man, when the need suits you
Orziji looks at Hida.
Orziji: And I shall remember that you are a man who enjoys good food, when I am in need of an eating companion.
Orziji walks over to Ikuko for kiss and handkerchief.
Ikuko kisses Orziji on each of his cheeks and tucks the handkerchief into the fold of his armor.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} (Defining Interest (Etiquette) +1) [1d12+7 = 10]
Orziji: Thank you your ladyship. Safe journeys to you.
Orziji steps back and gestures for everyone to pass.
Ikuko: To you as well
Kuutai: Sigh....no bloodshed, no secrets gained......
Chiri: No screams of the dying and wounded to carry them into the Void.
Kuutai: Yeah, it really is hard dealing with his dysfunctional, non-combat centric band of misfits. :3
Ikuko: Yes, just what we need to do while being pursued by soldiers, have a big loud battle
Daichi: He was one man, your ladyship.
About 20 bandits come out of hiding.
Daichi: And some friends...
Ikuko: If I were you, I would keep my eyes peeled for this tomb he mentioned. Botan could certainly make use of the money to rebuild his family's position.
Ikuko: And I
Daichi: Yes your ladyship.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Critical failure!] [1d4+1 = 2]
Kuutai: Yes....what sort of....secrets are buried there.....muhuhahaha
Kazemi (Kazuki): DERP
Ikuko: And I'm sure all of you are fond of great treasure yourselves, or else you would have stayed in the capital where it was safe.
Kazemi (Kazuki): not burning my last benny for that
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d4-8 = -5]
The rest of the day passes eventfully. You are climbing ever higher into the mountains. That night, just before you make camp, you come to a small rise and see the Ikusan force that Orziji mentioned. There are about 200 soldiers, four medium Kikai, and a number of Void Walkers camped in the valley below. You watched as a group moves to the checkpoint as the sun fades. Anyone passing through it is given a more thorough inspection than a guy named Usama Barn Luden at a TSA checkpoint while carrying a box of random electronics.
Daichi: I think I heard the snap of a surgical glove for a full cavity inspection from here.
Kuutai: Yuck....
Ikuko: Not to worry, I hadn't planned on hiding Botan in any of my orifices anyways
Chiri: She thinks most men would like to hide things in your orifices.
Daichi: May I smack her, your ladyship?
Ikuko: As long as it was vast sums of money and political influence my father would not object.
Kazuki: I think we'll actually need to trek off the beaten path
Ikuko: They will be patrolling, no doubt
Kazuki: Yeah, but patrols are easier to overcome than 4 kikai and 200 soldiers
Ikuko: Perhaps the tomb Orziji mentioned will have underground passages capable of getting us past these soldiers
Kazuki: not the mention the void walkers down there
Kazuki: It's worth a shot
Kazuki: At the very least we could pay for an escort around these guys
Kuutai: HRM....
Chiri: Perhaps we could get them drunk with firewater, surround them, and escape in the confusion?
Botan: Pss...wrong setting.
Ikuko: If only my sister were here, she could simply fuck them all into exhaustion...
Daichi: Err...
Chiri applauds.
Botan: My mom said not to use words like that.
Kuutai: Well that is very...course language. Have you awoken from your stupor of nobility?
Kazuki: Which sister is this?
TADM: <--- Is trying to figure out what Vigor stat would be necessary to pull that off.
Ikuko: It makes no difference, none of my sisters are here with us, sadly.
Ikuko: I do miss them so.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 10]
Daichi: Well, do we camp here for the night and try to find a way around in the morning, or try to move on during the night?
Daichi: I am not sure how safe it would be for her Ladyship to move at night, but that might be best.
Daichi shrugs.
Kuutai: Who's for finding that tomb?
Kazuki: I don't think it'll be much worse for Ikuko. She's already blind. It's the rest of us that we need to worry about
GM: Also, based on earlier rolls, the entire population of the Iron Dynasty knows Ikuko is afraid of the dark.
Daichi looks at Kazuki.
Daichi: Good point. I was thinking more of her horse though.
Kuutai: Hrm....
Kazuki: Ah, right. Plus it'll be offroad
Kuutai: May...I see the horse?
Ikuko: I do not know, I cannot see the horse
Kazuki: oh dear
Chiri: The giant horse that is right there and the only one in the group? She hopes you can see it, otherwise Ikuko's contagious.
Botan snickers.
Botan coughs and stands up, pretending he did not snicker.
Kuutai: I was merely asking permission.
Hida Sashimi: I like him :)
Daichi defers to Ikuko's response.
Ikuko: I do not care if you look at my horse, but I would not be pleased if anything were to happen to him
Ikuko: I am not fond of traveling on foot
Kuutai: You get the idea that Kuutai is smiling
Chiri: It makes her little feetsies sore.
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 8]
Ikuko's horse's eyes start glowing bright red.
Daichi: Err...
Kuutai: Now that's my kind of horse!
Daichi: Is that safe?
Kazuki: o.O
Ikuko: Is what safe?
Kazuki backs away from the horse
Kazuki: audibly
Daichi: Your horse's eyes are glowing bright red.
Ikuko: Is that unusual for a horse?
Kazuki: Yes
Ikuko has been awarded a benny
Kazuki: It's one of those "Here there be oni" sort of signs
TADM: That is well played. Benny!
Ikuko: What color do their eyes normally glow?
Daichi: They normally don't glow at all.
Kazuki: "No" would be the correct answer
Kuutai: NEIGH would the be correct answer.
Kazuki: I hate you so much
Quorteth (Kuutai): :3
Daichi: So...we are traveling through the night?
Ikuko: Kuutai, what have you done to my horse, and I want the truth
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+6 = 23]
Kuutai: I just turned on his blinkers!
Kazemi (Kazuki): are its eyes blinking?
Kuutai: So we could get as far from the Ikusans as possible!
GM: Nope
Quorteth (Kuutai): nawww.
Kazuki: And how is this going to help?
Kuutai: We won't be impeded by darkness for a bit.....
Kuutai: Come, let us not dawdle
Kazuki: Oh
Ikuko: Very well, lead on. Hopefully your strange magics are effective
Kazuki: Well, I suppose that'll work
Kazuki: What happens if you cast that on Ikuko?
Kazuki :3
Kuutai: You should try them when its pitch black. Maybe you will find you are able to see....
GM: Okay, so where is the group going with its "glowing red eyes" horse?
Kuutai: Onward! To Nihana!
Kazuki: Do we want to detour north or south?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 10]
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = -3]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 9]
Kazemi (Kazuki): what sort of terrain do we have on either side?
This is a steep mountainous valley with a narrow road going down the middle of it. However, in the failing light Kazuki (with his highest Notice check) spots something that looks like a goat trail on the north side that leads up a very steep incline. The ascent will be very dangerous under normal circumstances, and probably very bad for everyone who is not a horse with glowing red eyes at night.
Satsuki: Perhaps, if your ladyship wishes to travel by that route, the servants and all the gear can go through the checkpoint normally and meet you on the other side?
Kazuki: Everyone ride the horse
Satsuki gulps in fear at the thought of having to make climbing checks at night with no Wild die.
Ikuko: That sounds like a wise idea Satsuki
Kazuki: Would you like to borrow my +2?
Kuutai: Indeed.
Kuutai: Quite the idea.
Hida Sashimi: I will go with the servants. I do not think that path is suitable for someone of my stature
Ikuko: None of you have any contraband, so you should be able to pass through unmolested
Kazuki: OK, so Ikuko, Botan, Kuutai, and myself will go along the goat path
Ikuko: I think Chiri should accompany us, no doubt she knows a lovely song about falling off a cliff and dieing.
Kuutai: Sound lovely.
Hida Sashimi: You mean 'dying' or 'dyeing'?
Chiri: She will come with you, if only to laugh when people fall.
Kuutai: hrm, that will really mark you having a falling out with people.
GM: Okay, so Hida Sashimi and the servants setup camp and collect everything that the group taking the side trail does not need.
GM: Then the five of them begin the perilous ascent up the narrow goat path.
Kazuki: this is going to be fun
GM: Climbing checks. (Ikuko rolls d8 Agility for her Lowlands Brindle horse, as it can see in the dark and is surefooted)
Chiri: Climbing {+2 Thief} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazuki: imagine all the stories you can tell your grandchildren, Botan
Ikuko: [1d8 = 1]
Botan: Climbing {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 6]
Ikuko: [1d6 = 2]
Ikuko is using a benny
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 21]
Ikuko: [1d8 = 6]
Kuutai: NoSkill [Critical failure!] [1d4 = 1]
Kuutai is using a benny
Kuutai: NoSkill [1d4 = 3]
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d8+2 = 7]
Kuutai is using a benny
Kuutai: NoSkill [1d6 = 7]
Kazuki catch Kuutai before he falls to his death
Kazuki: Watch that step there, sir
Quorteth (Kuutai): Wait, did I just make a skill roll for not having skill, or was I trying to actually do a No Dance?
Kuutai: Ugh....lousy goat trail....
GM: Okay, now a Vigor check for everyone. Ikuko's horse has a d10.
Kazemi (Kazuki): uh oh
Botan: Vigor [1d8 = 3]
Ikuko: [1d10 = 5]
Kuutai: Vigor [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki: Vigor [1d4 = 11]
Kazemi (Kazuki): whew
Chiri: Vigor [1d6 = 8]
Ikuko: [1d6 = 4]
You climb for several hours, following the trail by moonlight and starlight. Everyone seems to make it through the journey without serious mishap, although Botan seems really tired and needs to take a nap.
Botan yawns.
Kazuki yawns
Kuutai: Ikuko
Kuutai: Let me....Help you.
Chiri takes a drink from a metal flask she had in her robes.
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 12]
GM: Okay, Ikuko has bright red glowing eyes. Other than marking her out nicely for any archers who might be in the distance, it has no effect.
Botan: That is a bit disturbing.
Chiri: Compared to what?
Ikuko: what is disturbing?
Botan: He made your eyes look like the horse's.
Ikuko: And that is unusual as well?
Botan: Well, yes.
Ikuko: very well, for your sake then...
Ikuko closes her eyes and ties a silk handkerchief into a blindfold around her eyes.
Kazuki: For the record, glowing eyes are always bad
Ikuko: Is that better?
Kuutai: Awww.....
Botan: Yes, your ladyship
Kuutai: I can defintely see where some people may not find it stylin, but Kazuki, really?
Kazemi (Kazuki): Botan kind of reminds me of Gohan from Team Four Star's DBZ Abridged
Kuutai: Ah well.
Kuutai: Who's for camping here?
Ikuko: If this strikes you as a good place to rest
Kuutai: Survival [1d4 = 11]
Ikuko: How far until we redevouz with the others?
Quorteth (Kuutai): Good Place?
GM: Very good spot to rest.
Kuutai: That I do not know, merely that this place...will offer refuge, for now.
The group finds a wide spot on the far side of the valley to camp. You get several hours of sleep while everyone else wakes up the next morning and goes through the check point.
By midafternoon, everyone is reunited and head down the mountains into Sorimizu.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Nothing? I guess I'll take that
GM: The group does not contain any small children, and Ikuko's servants don't mention Botan, so other then being harrassed a little you are not seriously impeded.
GM: The Ikusans do make it very obvious to you that they are looking for a small boy matching Botan's description.
Kuutai: Hrm.
Kuutai: Botan, Why they want you?
Botan: I don't know, something my mother did.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 10]
Ikuko: These sorts of power-plays are not unhear of, one day the pendulum will swing back the other way and you will reclaim your seat of power.
Kuutai: Ah well then. Onward.
Kazuki: How many days left?
Botan: Yes, your ladyship.
GM: Probably about 8.
GM: Since you were not distracted by Orziji for an extra four.
Kuutai: If only there were a faster way to travel....
TADM: You know what would be useful...a map.
Kazemi (Kazuki): we're on the main island on the mountain range between Ikusa Kokoro and Sorimizu, correct?
By the end of the day you are out of the mountains and on the northern edge of Sekisho.
GM: So now you just have to cross the vast fertile rice paddies of Sorimizu and make it to Nihana.
It is the evening of your second night in Sorimizu and the lands are peaceful and filled with the normal sounds of insects and birds.
GM: Notice checks
Kuutai: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d6-8 = 2]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]
Hida Sashimi is using a benny
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 30]
Kazemi (Kazuki): BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 7]
Quorteth (Kuutai): I SEE EVERYTHING
GM: They will fail when you get into combat.
Kazemi (Kazuki): I AM OMNISCIENT
GM: Kazuki notices a fox running into the underbrush near where Ikuko's cook, Akemi, is setting up the fire and preparing meals.
Satsuki writes, "Dear Daddy, I survived a trip through the mountains and after a brief makeout session with a bandit did not encounter any problems. Love you. Hugs and Kisses. Ikuko."
Kazuki heads over to Akemi
Hida Sashimi speaks with Atemi about cooking technique
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Regional Cuisine) [1d4 = 2]
Akemi looks at Hida Sashimi.
Kazuki looks at Hida Sashimi
Akemi: Now, I just add a pinch of pepper here, and it makes the flavor so much better.
Akemi apparently is entirely engrossed in a conversation about cooking techniques.
Kazuki: Got anything you think foxes would like?
Akemi looks at Kazuki.
Akemi: Oh, the little fox?
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki is pretty sure they eat meat
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 7]
Kazuki: some meat has gone missing
Hida Sashimi: Pepper is a useful spice, yes
Kuutai: Smarts (Defining Interest(Classical Literature) +1) [1d10+1 = 7]
Quorteth (Kuutai): What does the fox eat.....What do fox like creatures like?
Kazuki heads over to the bush
GM: Meat is pretty common for fox consumption.
Kazuki: Hey there, little guy, want a treat?
Kazuki: Stealth [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): this is relatively out of sight of the rest of the camp. As much as I can make it with a 5
Mayumi walks over to Kazuki while carrying a load of laundry.
Mayumi: Excuse me, are you trying to feed the fox?
Kazuki: Yes
Kazuki: Do you have any tips?
Mayumi: No, but he is not hungry because we already fed him today.
Kazuki: Aww, that's a shame. Has he been following us around?
Mayumi: He has been wandering by every night for the last week or so. He does some tricks and is cute...so we keep feeding him.
Kazemi (Kazuki): makes me sad that I didn't take Gambling
Kazuki: Oh, Ok
Hida Sashimi: comparing to Kip
Akemi: And then I flourish some paprika over the vegetables like this...it is all in the hand movement.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
GM: Sashimi is quite convinced that the animal he did not see is probably a fox.
Mayumi walks off to hang up the laundry.
Hida Sashimi: Yes it is. People very rarely realize how important style and finesse are during cooking
Akemi: Yes, it is great to have such an avid connossieur among us.
Kazuki pulls out his pack of marbles to attempt to construct various ways to use them as mental excersises
Kuutai: What manner of arcane practice is this?
GM: Kazuki notices that he has lost some of his marbles.
Kuutai: What are you doing with these....baubles?
Kuutai is puzzled by Kazuki's actions
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazuki: Agility Trick [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki flicks a marble up, causing it to ricochet off of Kuutai's beak and down into his other hand
Kazuki: Playing around. Fortunately we have more servants than I know of
Ikuko: who is this we?
Kazuki: so I don't have much else to do at the moment. Plus, we've apparently earned ourselves a fox friend
Kazuki: (if I don't make any noise, she can't tell if I'm still here)
Kazemi (Kazuki): Move Silently
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 4]
Kuutai: looks at Ikuko, then starts singing 'Foxy Lady'
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d4-8 = 2]
Kazuki slips on his own marbles
Kazuki recovers his marbles
Kazuki: So, Kuutai, where'd you get that mask?
Kuutai: Uh.....its just some fabric.
Kuutai: I don't know.
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 3]
Kazuki: Ah, alright
Kuutai: Why, want to buy clothes like mine? =)?
Kuutai shows off his rags.
Kuutai: These threads be dope, yo!
Kazuki: Where did you learn your craft, anyways?
Ikuko: They are very lovely Kuutai. I'm sure they will impress many people.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+8 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+6 = 13]
GM: Okay...Kuutai needs to make a Spellcasting check as soon as he is done retorting.
Kazuki: Smarts (Obvious Lie is Obvious +6) [1d6+6 = 9]
Kuutai: I doubt so many of your fellow...nobles would feel so good about....discarded things
Kuutai: And craft? Everyone knows this, they have just...forgotten it for the things of the mundane world. Mhwhahaha
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 4]
Kuutai is using a benny
Kazuki: Ah, but they cannot be discarded things if you, yourself, have picked them up again!
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: nom?
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 14]
Kazemi (Kazuki): SUCCES
Kuutai feels the hairs on the back of his neck stand up and that the very world around him is twisting and reforming into a new reality.
Ikuko: Fighting {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d4-8 = -5]
Kuutai: I see....Our realm is being inundated by another.
TADM: Ikuko breaks out her Kung Fu fighting...and trips.
Kuutai: The border has been weakened! Prepare yourselves!
Kazemi (Kazuki): What has my nom benny done!
GM: Okay, everyone has their bennies reset and gained some experience.
Campaign saved.

Savage Worlds Ruleset for Fantasy Grounds II
(c) 2009 Pinnacle Entertainment Group.
Hideaki: All righty then. Let's get this party started.
TADM: THAT'S MY LINE.
Hideaki: Sorry
GM: All righty then, let's get this party started.
GM: Especially since for this first part, Ikuko will be pretty useless anyway.
Chiri: You mean more useless?
GM: %$^#$ Fricking insubordinate NPCs!
Kazuki: That's pretty much expeced of Chiri. I'm surprised she doesn't badmouth you more
GM: I usually keep her on a tight leash.
Chiri: Hey now, you weren't supposed to discuss bedroom antics in front of the group.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): I bet she likes that sort of thing
TADM: (looks up "Mute" hindrance)
ANYWAY.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazemi (Kazuki): any sign of the fox?
GM: No.
Kuutai feels the air around the group shift in ways imperceptible to normal eyes. There is a cold gust of wind, and then the shapes of men form from lengthening shadows, pulling themselves together and reconstituting themselves from the inside out within the space of a few heartbeats.
Hideaki: Surrender the boy or die!
Quorteth (Kuutai): (still not quite here, bros, sorry, meeting is over time)
Kazuki: Oh, I thought you were one of Ikuko's minions
Hideaki is a bald man wearing black pants but no shirt. Glowing tattooes cover his torso and he carries no weapons. The same cannot be said of the Ikusan soldiers with him.
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Kazuki: WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE
GM: Kazuki, with that roll, is utterly convinced that he is being visited by Celestials of a Higher Power, who wish merely for him to bask in their splendor.
Hideaki: You have thirty seconds to surrender to me, or I shall kill everyone here, except him, and take the boy.
Kazuki: That doesn't sound like a very celestial thing to say
GM: Ikuko's servants scatter, using the "I only work here excuse." The bodyguards remain behind to protect the woman who seems to be completely oblivious to the world around her, and is busy knitting herself a hulu skirt out of grasses by the side of the road.
Hida Sashimi: Common Knowldge [1d6 = 7]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 7]
GM: Hida Sashimi recognizes Hideaki as a Void Walker, and the soldiers with him are elite members of the Ikusan military. Kuutai agrees.
Kazemi (Kazuki): I got Yuto. My mook died first last time, and I kinda like Shora and Daichi
Kuutai: Hrm, how original....
Kazuki: Hey, aren't all celestials supposed to glow?
Kazuki: Why aren't all your other buddies glowing as well?
Kuutai: fool, celestials don't make ultimatums like that.....
Kazuki: Well, maybe he's being pressured by the higher ups?
Kuutai: Higher ups......maybe, heavenly.....oh no....
Kuutai: What use have you of this boy?
Kazuki: Who, me?
Kuutai: Why do you seek him so?
Hideaki: So you admit you have him? Hah! You have twenty seconds now before we kill you all.
Kazuki: YOU'LL NEVER TAKE ME
Botan hides in the bushes and is completely invisible.
Kuutai: I admit to nothing. I am curious as to what sort of candy a boy could steal that would prompt such an inquisition.
Kazuki: Well, you see, even Celestials have "needs"
Kuutai snaps at Kazuki
Kazuki does air quotes as he speaks
Kuutai: They aren't celestial!
Kazuki: Then why are they glowing?
TADM: Critical Failures are the best.
Kazemi (Kazuki): especially on common knowledge
Hida Sashimi: I have seen the enemy. Let's send them pack-ing
TADM: Woohoo!
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 5]
Kuutai: Now I glow, you think me a celestial?
Hideaki points at Kuutai.
Kazuki: Uh
Hideaki: A renegage Void Onmyoji! Kill him first!
Hideaki: CHARGE!
Kazuki: I'm pretty sure you just tore the eyes out of some other celestial
Round 1
The deck has been shuffled.
Dealing cards...
Hida Sashimi was dealt the Red Joker! Go whenever you want this round. You also get: Joker Trait/Damage Bonus [2]
The deck has been shuffled.
Hida Sashimi
Kazuki: That would explain why they're so upset at you
Kazuki: Wait, so is this boy you're talking about Kuutai?
Kazuki: he's really more of a grimy man
Kazuki: He doesn't even change his clothes, it's probably not safe to eat him
Hida Sashimi: I stab you, like a delicious piece of tempura!
Hida Sashimi: Fighting [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
GM: That hits
Hida Sashimi: Chopsticks, metal damage [2d6 = 11]
Hida Sashimi plunges a metal chopstick into the man's heart and kills him instantly, lending new credence to the phrase, "fast food kills you."
Kazuki: Uh oh
Ikuko
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 8]
GM: Ikuko sits on the ground, meditating on the amount of dust she now feels on her bum.
Kazuki
Kazuki: Wait...
Kazuki: It's body isn't vanishing back to Anoyo...
Kazuki: WHAT TRICKERY IS THIS
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Fast food doesn't kill you. Eating too quickly can lead to heart burn, though
Kazuki pulls out his kusari-gama and launches the weight at Mook 4
Kazuki: Fighting [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Kusari-gama damage [2d6 = 21]
Kazuki flings his kusari-gama at one and crushes the man's head.
Kazuki: Just as I thought! These are not celestials at all! Kuutai, we've been tricked!
TADM: The group is doing much better in this combat than the last one.
Kazemi (Kazuki): I practically died without acting in the last one
Kazemi (Kazuki): well, that's my turn
Hideaki: Spellcasting [1d10 = 18]
Hideaki casts Quickness on himself.
Hideaki: Fighting [1d10 = 8]

GM: Kuutai needs to make a Smarts check.
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 8]
Kazuki: Kuutai, I think these guys are Void Walkers! Don't let them know that you're on Onmyouji! They'll go for you first!
Hired Bodyguards: Fighting [1d6 = 2]
Hida Sashimi: [1d6 = 4]

Kuutai: Put all 3 on Hideaki
Kuutai: Bolt(Enhanced) damage [3d6 = 26]
Kuutai: Bolt(Enhanced) damage [3d6 = 17]
Kuutai: Bolt(Enhanced) damage [3d6 = 18]
Kazemi (Kazuki): WHAT IS THIS
Kazuki: Clearly I was mistaken about who was the celestial in this whole ordeal
Kazuki: Sorry about that Kuutai
TADM: Okay, so that is Shaken + 4 Wounds, Shaken + 2 Wounds, and Shaken + 2 Wounds on Hideaki.
Hideaki is using a benny
Hideaki: Vigor [1d8 = 5]
Hideaki is using a benny
Hideaki: Vigor [1d6 = 10]
Kazemi (Kazuki): lemme guess, he failed?
TADM: No, he saved 3 of those Wounds...it's the other 5 that hurt.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Hope he wasn't supposed to be a recurring villian
Hideaki explodes into a gruesome pile of gooey bits.
TADM: Only if he lived through this encounter.
Kazuki: You see, children, that is not how a celestial actually dies
TADM: Which I actually wrote into the campaign.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kazemi (Kazuki): well, we know one part that's not being playtested very thouroughly
Red Wolf: Fighting [1d6 = 2]
Red Wolf: Fighting [1d6 = 4]
Red Wolf: Katana damage [2d8+2 = 10]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Tack's character?

Red Wolf: Fighting [1d6 = 4]
Red Wolf: Fighting [1d6 = 10]
Red Wolf: Katana damage [Raise] [3d8+2 = 6]
Red Wolf ferociously attacks Kuutai, hits with a raise, and only succeeds in doing one wound because Kuutai is already shaken.
GM: Which he can benny if he wants
Kuutai is using a benny
Kuutai: Vigor [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Kazemi (Kazuki): lololol
Kazemi (Kazuki): I'll nom if you want
Kuutai: Vigor [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]

Hida Sashimi
Hida Sashimi: Fighting [1d4 = 2]
Red Wolf is clearly skilled in the art of fighting against a master of chopstick-fu.

Nick (Hida Sashimi): Problem was, I think he meant 6" wide
Kazuki: Fighting: Grapple [1d6 = 16]

Kazuki: First you stab a helpless girl, then you stab the only person in your party not trying to kill you
Kazuki: Er, in the opposing party
Daichi: Katana damage [2d8+4 = 34]

Kazuki: That would be ridiculous
Daichi runs up and hits the guy that stabbed Ikuko for 34 damage.

Red Wolf: Spirit [1d6 = 11]
Kazuki: Daichi, quickly, you must attend to Ikuko's wounds!
Kazuki: You're her only hope!

Kazuki: Yikes!
Red Wolf steps back, swings near Kazuki, begins to wonder if there is something wrong with his sword.
Kazuki
Kazuki: Fighting: Grapple damage (Wound Penalty -1) [2d6-1 = 12]
Red Wolf: So far my ancestral family blade has destroyed a bottle of soy sauce.
Kazuki: Stop being not-tied-up
Hida Sashimi: Bah! Your sword should be honored!
Kazuki: Hey, it also ruined Sashimi's record for not getting stains on his clothes. He was going 2 days strong!
Daichi begins giving Ikuko mouth to mouth.
Daichi and LIKES IT.
Kazuki o.O
Hida Sashimi
Hida Sashimi: Fighting (Wound Penalty -1) [Critical failure!] [1d4-1 = 0]

Kazuki: Great
Kazemi (Kazuki): Are any of them alive enough to question?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6+1 = 12]
Kazuki: They appear out of nowhere right in front of us and nobody bothers asking how they knew where we were?
Kazuki: Crimany
Kuutai coughs up some blood.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Unfortunately, it's not hers
Red Wolf Post Battle Survival Check: [8d6 = 22]
GM: Nope, all the Red Wolves are quite dead.
[w] Kazuki: I'd like to Hunch Red Wolf 7
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -3) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-3 = 11]
Hida Sashimi: Notice (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 4]
[w] -> Kazuki: Sure, you get an Ace and two Jokers. Would you like to use the Jokers?
[w] Kazuki: What's the worst that can happen?
[w] -> Kazuki: Let me go get my Realms of Cthulhu insanity guide and my magical dismemberment guide from my other book if you do.
[w] -> Kazuki: And I'll subtract 7 from your sanity score...
Nick (Hida Sashimi): brb for food
GM: Hida Sashimi notices that these Red Wolves, and the pulpy remains of the Void Walker, look very much like some of the ones that were at the Checkpoint you passed when you went into Sorimizu.
Kazemi (Kazuki): was this right after we met up with the group?
Kazemi (Kazuki): the main group, I mean
GM: Kuutai notices that Kazuki is trying to use a Deadlands game mechanic to get information from the GM, which probably means that he is about to fail some Sanity checks from Realms of Cthulhu and will be turned into a Queen Drone from Slipstream.
Kazuki without the servants around, begins a conversation with Daichi, Chiri, and the PCs
GM: Or was Kuutai trying to discern more useful information with that nice Notice roll?
Kazuki: OK, so I've got a Hunch that one of these 27 servants is a traitor
Kazuki: Or just can't keep their mouths shut
Daichi removes all of Ikuko's constricting clothing...to help her breathe better.
Kazuki: WOAH THERE DAICHI
Quorteth (Kuutai): lulz
Kazuki: Move aside, let me show you how it's done
Kazuki: Persuasion (Wound Penalty -1) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-1 = 3]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I was really hoping for a critical failure there
Kazemi (Kazuki): oh, nm, that trait roll of 1 has the bad effect
Daichi stops what he is doing and stares suspiciously at Kazuki while grabbing his katana and determining the best spot to stab Kazuki.
Kazuki backs off from Daichi like he's a rabid wolf
Kuutai: Chiri, I believe this is where you take over.
Chiri: She has no interest in removing Ikuko's clothes.
Chiri: She thinks you are all rather funny with your oozing wounds.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): ssshh no giving the GM ideas
Kazuki: You should see the other guys'
Hida Sashimi goes searching for Botan
Chiri: The Red Wolves have returned to the great oblivion that calls us all. As have those hapless fools who took her money.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki: Except Daichi
Botan crawls out from behind the bushes where he was hiding and attends to Ikuko's wounds.
Kazuki: So, when this ambush party does not return in a few hours, they're going to scout out and find the area of this slaughter
Daichi stands guard over Ikuko like a rabid hyena waiting to slaughter any other than Botan who get too close.
Kazuki: then they'll send more troops out behind us along the road to try and track us down
Kuutai: Yep. They know they have hit a REAL customer!
Chiri: She thinks blood loss helps Kazuki think better, and wonders if perhaps opening up a vein or two will result in genius.
Kazuki: It might be better to travel cross-country for a while to throw them off
Daichi: I am not moving her ladyship from this spot until she is recovered.
GM: Wait..the NPCs are trying to split the party...oh wait..that's because one of the PCs is not here tonight.
Kazemi (Kazuki): how bad are Ikuko's wounds?
Daichi: We will move her to the side of the road and let her recover. You do whatever you think is appropriate for yourselves.
Kuutai: With each moment you squander, so increases the chances of another attack
Kazuki: If you put her on the side of the road, that Kikai you saw being repaired will come down the road here, (points down the road) see you, and blow you both up
GM: Ikuko's wounds, after Botan's care, fall into the category of, "hair out of place, and it looks like she has a black eye and a bad hangnail on her right middle finger."
Kazuki: Besides, you're injured worse than she is and she rides a horse all the time anyways
Hida Sashimi: Smart lad
Kazuki: Getting her out of harms way is the most important thing
Daichi: Very well, then we will move her to the nearest town and she will rest up there. You can move ahead with the boy while the servants and I remain behind with her and I try to recruit some new bodyguards.
Chiri: She approves of this plan.
Daichi: Plus, if we have a spy among the servants, then they will not be able to report your movements.
Chiri: She thinks blood loss helps Daichi think better also.
Kazuki: New red-sh--body guards would be a good thing
Chiri hands some herbs to Kuutai for him to eat.
Kazemi (Kazuki): The servants all know where we're going, right?
Kuutai: Ah...thanks.
GM: Approximately yes, they know the group is headed for Nihana, they don't know what path you are following.
Chiri: She thinks the one who has seen too much of the Void should not try to collect katanas with the atrophied body which holds his feeble soul.
Kazuki: Kazuki agrees with Chiri. Besides, katana are 6lbs per. What's your strength score, Kuutai?
Kuutai guffaws at Kazuki
Kuutai: Keep your metal.
Kuutai: I care not for such....toys.
Daichi leaves with Ikuko and all the servants for the nearest village.
Botan waves good bye to them as they leave.
Chiri: Persuasion {-5 Charisma} [1d10-5 = 4]
Kazuki: Botan, can I see that birth mark of yours again?
Chiri expertly sings, "Ding dong the Bitch is Gone" as Ikuko's group heads out of sight.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} (Wound Penalty -1) [1d4 = 2]
Kazuki: nevermind
Botan opts not to, as Kazuki seems clueless about many things right now.
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -1) [1d10-1 = 6]
Chiri: She thinks she hears Kikai, or thunder in the distance, and is going off road into Sekisho with Botan.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Foxes
GM: Kuutai sees no foxes.
Chiri grabs Botan by the arm and heads into the nearby woods.
Chiri: She recommends you follow if you do not wish to be stepped on or collect the pointy end of further swords.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kazemi (Kazuki): foxes?
Kuutai follows into the forest
Kazemi (Kazuki): did I here foxis?
GM: Kazuki neither hears, nor sees foxes. He is pretty sure he hears thunder and sees rain clouds in the distance.
Kazuki: Ugh, this will not be a fun travel
Kazuki: Hey, Chiri, could I have some herbs?
Kuutai: Ah....the forest....so much....darker..nicer....
Kazuki: And soon to be wetter
Kazuki: You don't melt in water, do you Kuutai?
Kazuki: Because at first glance..
Kazuki: ...that's sort of the feeling one gets from looking at you
Kuutai: Water? No, it shall not be a problem....
Kazuki: Smarts (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 4]
Chiri: She has not had much luck finding the types of herbs you need. However, she does have some nice dessicated lizard skin you can chew on.
Kazuki: I suppose if you say so
Kazuki: Smarts (Wound Penalty -1) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-1 = 3]
Kazuki: Sure
Chiri hands Kazuki a dessicated lizard skin.
Hida Sashimi: for herbs, culinary or otherwise
Hida Sashimi: Notice (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 7]
Kazuki chews on the dessicated lizard skin
Kazemi (Kazuki): unless Sashimi says otherwise
Nick (Hida Sashimi): also +1 for interest: Food
GM: Hida spots some nice spices that look like they would go well with most types of red meat, as well as certain legumes.
GM: Kazuki needs to make a Vigor roll.
Kazuki: Vigor (Wound Penalty -1) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6-1 = 4]
Kazemi (Kazuki): aha!
Kazemi (Kazuki): standard success
GM: In about 24 hours, Kazuki develops the worst cramps in his life, and about 4 hours later, has to spend 30 minutes behind a tree while his intestines expunge everything in them.
TADM: Good thing you didn't fail.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Q.Q
Kazuki: What kind of lizard was that?
Kazemi (Kazuki): do I heal a wound?
Kuutai: whatever it was, it really skinks!
Kazemi (Kazuki): :D
TADM: No.
Kazuki: D:
Chiri: The skin of a baby buru, you should learn to recognize such things, as they are the most poisonous lizards in Konoyo.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Good thing it wasn't dessicated bird feathers, or else they would have sniped him
Chiri: She thinks someone of your background should notice such things and not eat them blindly. Hopefully you have learned something from this.
Chiri cackles.
Kazuki: You're a terrible medic
Kazuki: One day, there's going to be an accident in combat
Kuutai laughs
Kazuki: and nobody will be sad
Botan: It's okay, on my fourth birthday she baked me some sweets that had Tahatan Burrower poison in them. Almost all the servants were paralyzed at the table for a couple hours.
Chiri doubles over from laughing so hard.
Kazuki: Kuutai
Kazuki: If I die from eating something strange
Kazuki: bring back my ghost to haunt Chiri
Chiri stares hard at Kazuki.
Hida Sashimi: We should keep moving. Put as much distance between us and the battle
Chiri: She is haunted by things that would shatter your feeble mind.
Chiri: Intimidation [1d6 = 4]
GM: Spirit check (for Kazuki)
Kazuki: Spirit (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 8]
Kazuki: What mind?
Kuutai: I would not dare take something back from mother void.
Kazuki: What about catching it before it goes in?
Chiri: The one you scarcely posses.
Kazuki: You mean possess?
Kazuki: Whoops. Excuse me, gotta go take care of some side effects
Hida Sashimi: Does anyone actually know how to get to Nihana?
Botan: I do.
Kazuki: Yes, northern shore of the continent
Botan heads west towards Nihana.
Kuutai: Good...lead the way....
Kuutai: Notice (Battle Dammage -1) [1d6-1 = 4]
TADM: My cat is chewing on my Iron Dynasty book....
TADM: Umm...
Kuutai: Yes....Botan...lead us to Nihana...
Kuutai: Take the most....discrete path you know.
Kazuki: Does anyone have Healing?
Chiri: She does.
Chiri: Healing [1d6 = 7]
Chiri: Healing [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Chiri: Healing [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Who does?
Chiri applies tonics and salves to heal Kuutai and Hida Sashimi within one hour of injury, using the Healing skill.
Botan: Healing [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki: You forgot my name
Kazuki: oh, my wound is gone
Kuutai: Ah...I feel....slightly more.....in toutch with this...dream
Botan sighs and decides to give Kazuki some herbs.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Hoorah!
Kuutai: Thank you much.
Hida Sashimi: on herbs
GM: Hida notices that Chiri uses a lot of chili powder and cayenne pepper in her herbal mixtures.
Red Oni: Stealth [1d6 = 2]
Quorteth (Kuutai): I'd call that the spice of life.
Hida Sashimi: Expect it to have a bit of a kick
Botan leads the group along the edges of the forest, sort of northwest towards the Sorimizan coast.
GM: The forest is quiet and peaceful, and you actually make pretty good time for the rest of the day.
GM: Chiri plays her biwa while walking, humming snippets of various songs that involves oni dismembering people who travel in the woods.
Kuutai applauds
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
GM: After a couple hours, since you were already setting up camp when ambushed, the sun sets and it grows rather dark. You hear insects in the distance, making noise as they wake up.
Botan yawns.
Botan: I'm getting sleepy.
Kazuki: Let's rest for the night, then
Kazemi (Kazuki): anything cool around here?
Kuutai: Very Well....
GM: Well, there are five wild cards present in the same area, that's pretty hard to come by in Konoyo on a regular basis.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Any foxes?
GM: I wouldn't recommend building a summer home here, but the trees are quite lovely.
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 7]
GM: Kazuki sees no foxes.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 19]
Kazemi (Kazuki): any good spots for resting?
GM: Kazuki finds a nice little grove that is secluded and hidden from view thanks to a small depression in the ground, it looks like the kind of place that most people would not even notice.
Botan curls up in a ball between the exposed roots of a tree and goes to sleep.
Kazuki: Anyone have a blanket for Botan to use?
Kuutai sits with his back to a tree, and dozes off
Hida Sashimi: Guess you and I are on watch, Kazuki
Kazemi (Kazuki): well, I was thinking more along the lines of in the trees themselves
Kazuki: Sure thing
Kazuki: You got a blanket in there for the kid?
Botan has a proper pair of blankets and makes himself a small bed.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Does the weather call for a fire?
Chiri: She will watch you get consumed by oni, and laugh as the marrow is sucked from your split bones.
Kazuki: Spirit [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki refrains from jumping at Chiri's hideous comment that came out of f*#%ing nowhere
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 3]
Kazuki: I thought you were asleep
GM: The official Sorimizan weather table indicates that the weather tonight will be, "Comfortable with no chance of rain."
Chiri: She was not asleep, for what she dreams makes this waking world seem like a paradise.
Kuutai has been awarded a benny
TADM: Dave gets a benny for awesome pictures.
Kazuki: Ah, that explains it
Kazemi (Kazuki): ROFLROFLROFL
Kazuki: Hida, you want first watch or second?
Hida Sashimi: whichever. not picky
Kazuki: OK, you can go ahead and sleep, I'll take first watch with Chiri and wake you up in a few hours
Chiri: She finds herself wondering, if, during Kazuki's sheltered life, he has ever seen winged fire oni descending from the hills like falling stars to burn alive the peasants who live in fear of what dwells in the mountains?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 4]
Hida Sashimi: Zzzzzzz...
GM: Kazuki has heard of such things...a long time ago.
Kazuki: Sounds similar to that Trogdor legend I heard a while back.
Kazuki: They've grown rather scarce recently, though. Probably for the better
Chiri: She read about them in a book once, and they sound most fascinating.
Kazuki: Indeed
Kazuki laughs
Kazuki: Although I image they would be less so in person
Kazuki: Where did you read this from?
Chiri: She found it in a scroll in the ruins of Tikaku, and later sold it to the great library of Andon for a bag of pears and a tuning fork.
Chiri hums to herself.
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 4]
GM: Time passes, it gets late, Kazuki gets sleepy.
Kazuki keeps moving to keep his slumber at bay
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 9]
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 9]
Kazemi (Kazuki): -2
Kazemi (Kazuki): on the last one
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
GM: Kazuki notices nothing unusual.
Kazuki: Yo, Hida-san, your turn
Hida Sashimi: Huh. Oh...okay.
Kazuki dangles his weighted chain down from a branch to poke Hida awake
Chiri spots some mushrooms growing in the distance and collects them, along with a collection of spiders that she collects and squeezes their innards into a glass vial.
GM: Notice check for Hida.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Uh oh
GM: Hida notices nothing unusual. The night passes.
GM: Vigor check for Kuutai when he wakes up.
Kuutai: Vigor [1d6 = 5]
TADM: (Eight hours later, for those who want to know)
GM: Kuutai feels itchy when he wakes up, like he needs a bath, but decides to ignore it.
Kazemi (Kazuki): He should immediately recognize that as a foreign emotion
Kuutai: Well then....
Kuutai: Shall we head out?
Botan eats some food from his backpack, then leads the group west through the forest and onto the plains.
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 6]
Botan: I think it should take another few days of travel to reach there, maybe a week if I remember my map correctly.
Kuutai: A week? Ugh....
Kazuki noms on his trail rations
Kazuki: More delicious than Dessicated Lizard!
GM: The group makes good progress that day, passing through the rolling green lands of Sorimizu and around small villages of peasants who pay the group scant attention as they march along.
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Regional Cuisine) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
GM: Hida knows that the Sorimizans love rice dishes, as well as an abundance of river eel and fishes. Sorimizan cuisine can be quite delicious.
GM: It gets to be late in the afternoon when Kazuki feels intense cramps in his stomach.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazemi (Kazuki): did someone tamper with my rations?
GM: Kazuki can find no trace of ration tampering.
Kazemi (Kazuki): wow, now I'm hungry
Kazuki: Whoops, break time
GM: That's what happens when you bring an obese character along...
GM: Kazuki feels that his bowels are going to explode if he does not do something soon...
Kazuki: Excuse me while I finish off that lizard
Kazuki: Wait here, if you could
Kazuki heads off into the brush
Kazuki: well, unless we're near Peasants
Kazemi (Kazuki): any nearby?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I bet they have outhouses
GM: Kazuki sees no peasants, but he does see a large reddish humanoid bearing a tetsubo heading straight for him.
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): does that hide me?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 6]
GM: Kazuki identifies it as a man-eating red oni, the most common type of demon on Konoyo since the Transformation began.
Kazuki: MAN-EATING RED ONI
Kazuki: HEADS UP
Kazemi (Kazuki): is it bigger than Sashimi?
Chiri: Hmm...She smells something that is much like a human who tried to eat uncured buru. Do you smell that Botan?
Botan: No comment.
Kuutai: Oni you say?
GM: In width, it is the same size, in height, it is about a foot taller.
Kazuki: IT'S BIGGER THAN SASHIMI
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 6]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 3]
Kazemi (Kazuki): what do Red Oni find more delicious?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
GM: Sashimi notices a large reddish looking culinary expert in the consumption of human flesh moving towards where Kazuki is making a lot of noise.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kazemi (Kazuki): I want to distract it and sent it at the others
Kazemi (Kazuki): Kuutai can take it!
GM: Kazemi remembers that red oni like to eat humans and buru, in that order.
Kazemi (Kazuki): well shit
TADM: Yes, yes you are.
Kazemi (Kazuki): can it easily climb the rock next to me?
Kazemi (Kazuki): delete first
Chiri cackles maniacally at the predicament Kazuki is in.
GM: Possibly.
Kazemi (Kazuki): Where is Chiri on the map?
Kazemi (Kazuki): That is now relevant to my interests
Chiri is hiding with Botan.
Kazuki: Climb {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kazuki nimbly climbs up onto the rock, pulling out his Kusari-gama
GM: Kazuki climbs up the rock while either (a) leaving his pants behind or (b) pulling them up and climbing at the same time.
Kazemi (Kazuki): also, can I hold my attack for it to enter range?
GM: Yes to your question.
Round 1
The deck has been shuffled.
Dealing cards...
Kuutai
Kazemi (Kazuki): (b) please
Kazemi (Kazuki): I rolled well enough
Kuutai (Oni-go): Hey Mr. Oni! Don't eat that man, he is sick and will cause you great distress!
Kazuki: Kuutai, make it non-aggressive
Kuutai: Persuasion (Defining Intersest(Acting) +1) [1d4+1 = 3]
Kazuki
Quorteth (Kuutai): What, you think imma just waste PP on an Oni? Im not working miracles this time!
Kazuki holds his action, preparing to thwomp the thing if it tries to get at him
Red Oni notices that Kuutai is there and smells much like juicy Void essence
Kazuki: That was not the direction I was expecting
Hida Sashimi
Kazuki: Not that it's an unpleasant result, mind you
Round 2
Dealing cards...
Kuutai: I suppose i deserve the onius of responsibility for this....
Red Oni: Fighting [1d6 = 3]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Aaah!
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Uh oh
Red Oni swings his massive Tetsubo at Sashimi and misses him, but his tetsubo leaves a divot in the ground the size of a basket of rice.
Hida Sashimi
Hida Sashimi: Fighting [1d4 = 13]
GM: That hits with a raise.
Hida Sashimi: Chopsticks, metal damage [Raise] [3d6 = 10]
Quorteth (Kuutai): picks his fights well.
Red Oni rears back in pain from the sharp pointy sticks that suddenly pierce his flesh.
Kazuki
Hida Sashimi: Since this is an oni, would its cooking show be "I RUN! Chef"?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
Kazemi (Kazuki): how will Kuutai fair against the Oni? Spell resistance at all?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Half cooking show, half 500m dash?
Kazemi (Kazuki): Any immunities?
GM: Kazuki remembers that most oni have resistance to arcane powers.
Kuutai
Kazuki: Fighting [1d6 = 9]
Kazuki: Kusari-gama damage [Raise] [3d6 = 13]
Kuutai: I'm not sure, but I do know it loves onigiri.
Kazuki plows its head in with a well placed weight
Kazuki: My kill!
Kazuki: Now, if you'll excuse me
Kazuki: heads back behind his rock
Chiri claps with enthusiasm at the excessive violence.
Kazuki heads back behind his rock
Botan sighs.
Kazuki: Stealth [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): so that the next one doesn't see me
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 6]
Hida Sashimi boils some water to clean his chopsticks
Botan: We should move on for a bit, and then rest for the night, once Kazuki rejoins us from whatever he is doing.
Hida Sashimi: Agreed
Botan looks in horror as he hears Kazuki yell, "Will it never stop! It burns!"
Kuutai: Sure.
Chiri giggles.
Kazuki finishes up and rejoins the group
Chiri: She has collected many nice herbs and mushrooms for dinner, she thinks we could collect some meat from the oni and make a nice soup.
Botan turns green.
Kuutai (cautious): Are you sure it is....safe to eat that thing?
Kuutai looks to Hida Sashimi
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 4]
Kazuki: I'm pretty certain that is a very, very bad idea
Chiri: Surely a culinary master like the fat one knows of safe ways to consume oni, and it is such a blubbery beast, she thinks it would be a shame to let it go to waste.
Hida Sashimi: Food {+1 Def. Interest} [1d6+1 = 6]
GM: Kazuki knows that some people eat oni meat, but it is generally not a good idea.
GM: Hida Sashimi actually knows a couple recipes for cooking oni meat, but he has never tried it before.
Botan votes to move on as quickly as possible.
Kuutai: So you are certain you can prepare this, Hida?
Botan heads out looking for a nice campsite.
Kazuki agrees with Botan
Kuutai: Awww....
Kazuki follows and supports Botan's wise endeavor
Hida Sashimi: I think I'll pass. Usually, you smoke oni meat first, simply to drive out any...impurities
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Chiri sighs and follows the group.
Kuutai follows
GM: Kazuki does not see anything unusual.
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 10]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
GM: Kazuki does find a nice spot to camp.
GM: Same watches as last night?
Kuutai: I will take second watch this eve
Kuutai: Forgive me last time...I was...a little exhausted.
Hida Sashimi: I suppose that works
Kazemi (Kazuki): does my digestive tract suggest first or third shift?
GM: Third.
Kazuki: Third shift for me, please
GM: Time passes...
GM: Hida's watch is quiet and peaceful. Kuutai awakes and contemplates whatever nefarious things float through his mind.
GM: Notice check.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Kazemi (Kazuki): whew
Kazemi (Kazuki): you're asleep
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 15]
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 18]
Kuutai: this veil of reality cannot obscure my sight! muhwhahah!
Quorteth (Kuutai): :3
GM: Kuutai's watch passes peacefully. He wakes Kazuki, who discovers the most horrendous stench he has ever encountered and discovers that his clothes are soaked and his skin is damp.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kazemi (Kazuki): the hell happened?
GM: Given the quantity, Kazuki suspects some large animal, possibly a Dokato or a River Bison walked into camp and urinated all over him. He is not quite sure why such a creature would feel obligated to mark its territory as such though. He also has no idea how such a large creature could just wander into camp without SOMEONE noticing.
Kazemi (Kazuki): I suspect there is a river nearby, then?
Botan makes whimpering noises and rubs his nose while sleeping.
Chiri has a huge grin on her face while sleeping.
Kazemi (Kazuki): I suspect that I need to go clean myself
GM: Yes, there is a river about a half mile away, in the moonlight you even see some large herbivores in it.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d6+1 = 10]
GM: Kazuki is quite certain that this is perfectly natural urine, and not magical or demonic in any way.
Kazemi (Kazuki): who's up for watch?
Kuutai sleeps peacefully
Kazemi (Kazuki): is anybody awake?
GM: Kuutai appears to have dozed off just after waking you up.
Kazuki: Kuutai, get up
Kazuki kicks Kuutai
Kazuki: Wake up
Kuutai: mmammmasmas
Kuutai: wha?
Kazuki: It seems that a River Bison somehow made it into the camp
Kazuki: Which is a massive breech on your responsibility to keep watch
Kuutai (Irked): Uh yeah, I was told to look out for threats to our well being. We are all alive. Conversation over.
Chiri laughs in her sleep.
Kazuki: Well, thanks to your inadequacy, I need to go clean up in the river. You're in charge of my watch. If you're asleep when I get back, I wrung out a healthy container of the urine and I'll force-feed it to you
Kuutai shrugs and seems indifferent
Kazuki heads down to get himself cleaned up
Kuutai snaps his fingers
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 9]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 5]
GM: The river is not so peaceful anymore, as all the creatures within a quarter mile radius of Kazuki flee from the stench as far as possible. Birds take to flight and the Dokato in the river stampede off from the far bank.
Kazuki: Fighting: Called Shot--Finger damage [2d6-4 = 8]
GM: Also, Kazuki is -12 to Stealth right now.
Kazuki launches his weight out at Kuutai's hand as he snaps
Kazuki: [2d6 = 3]
Kuutai: Agility [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]
Kazemi (Kazuki): pfff
Kuutai: What in the heck was that for!
GM: Kuutai throws his face in the way of danger...and gets knocked to the ground but seems otherwise unharmed.
Kazemi (Kazuki): lololol
Kuutai: Ugh. You kids.....can't deal with this world you call home.
GM: Hida continues to sleep blissfully throughout the entire ordeal.
Kazuki: Keep watch
Kazemi (Kazuki): heads down to the river
Kazuki heads down to the river
Kazemi (Kazuki): It's better than what I was expecting. I thought you were going to make everything swarm me
GM: How long would Kazuki like to scrub, and what is he using for soap?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 4]
Kazemi (Kazuki): Does anyone in the party have soap?
Kazemi (Kazuki): I doubt it
GM: Botan might. I assume you are not willing to trust the soap Chiri would offer you.
Kazemi (Kazuki): scrubbing for a couple hours, giving up on Nondescript Kimono #1 and moving onto Nondescript Kimono #2
GM: Night passes, dawn comes. Everyone who is asleep wakes up.
Botan: In the name of the Celestial's Above! What is that horrible stench?
Chiri: Kazuki.
Chiri: She thinks he has tried mating with something...unholy.
Kazuki: Do you have anything for this, Chiri?
GM: Hida is quite convinced that NOTHING will ever taste good again.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Like the oni corpse?
Kuutai: So, who's for getting dawdling here and basking in this aroma?
Kazuki stands right next to Chiri
Chiri: She believes that pumice stone to scrape off your skin and burning your clothes will make things much better. She also thinks you will be quite attractive to other kami-possessed skunks we encounter.
Botan decides to "jog" to Nihana.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Oh god. Imagine how hilarious the L5R campaign would have been if Kip was a skunk
Botan: I think late tomorrow night we will be in Kara, from there we can take a boat to Nihana. If...we can find a boat captain willing to...accommodate us.
Kazuki decides to follow directly next to Kuutai for the entire duration of the trip
Kuutai shrugs
Botan looks nervous near Kazuki.
Kuutai: No worse than the rest of this crude world
Kazuki glares daggers at Kuutai
Hida Sashimi: We could ride in the boat and have Kazuki dragged behind it in the water
Kazuki: You bring a boat?
Kazuki: Dammit, Kuutai, for being apathetic towards the existance of the universe you're certainly a pain to be around
GM: As you get closer to Kara, you start to see more and more people, most of which shy away from the group, trying to stay clear of the quarter mile stench zone that you all eventually grow numb to.
Kuutai: I find it difficult to believe that a seemingly disciplined warrior as yourself is so easily perturbed by a smell.
Kuutai: Concentration? Meditation? These mean anything to you?
Kuutai: Taunt [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 9]
By the nightfall of the next day, you find yourself on the outskirts of Kara, the capital of Sorimizu. The guards eye you warily while pinching their noses and trying to decide whether to shoot you or let you in.
Hida Sashimi: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: I'll give you a warning now, each time you do this you lose a finger
Kazuki: Intimidate [1d4 = 2]
Kazuki is using a benny
Kazuki: Intimidate [1d6 = 4]
Kuutai: Spirit [1d6 = 4]
Kuutai: I did nothing. I'm still confused.
Kazuki but really, Kazuki is dead serious
Hida Sashimi: Please Kuutai. Stay away from us for a while, so that we can breathe freely
Hida Sashimi: Persuasion [1d6 = 11]
Kazuki: Only if you promise that you'll help
Hida Sashimi: I mean Kazuki. The smell is getting to me again
Hida Sashimi: Find your own method
Nick (Hida Sashimi): and make your roll. IF YOU DARE!
Botan: Hida-san, in Kara there are many culinary delights. Perhaps we can go partake of something that will burn the smell from our noses.
Kuutai: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Nick (Hida Sashimi): Like setting Kazuki on fire?
Kazuki: Tch
Hida Sashimi: You are very wise for your age
Chiri reaches into her pack and pulls out a small leather pouch.
Chiri: She thinks that if you rub this in your noses, it will make the smell vanish.
Chiri offers each person a pinch.
Kazuki: Spirit [1d6 = 3]
Botan: I prefer to wait and see what happens to someone else first.
Kazuki: Fighting: Called Shot--Pouch damage [2d6-4 = 5]
Kuutai: Hrm.... enjoy how you continally show the fickless of this world
Kuutai: It is most entertaining
Kuutai rubs it on his nose
Kazuki: does Chiri put it on herself?
GM: The smell vanishes immediately and Kuutai can breathe easily again.
Chiri does not seem bothered by the smell.
Quorteth (Kuutai): This is like Willy Wonka. Everything she does will turn a person into a horrible example
Quorteth (Kuutai): awwwwww
Botan: Okay, blood did not start pouring immediately from his nose and he is not howling at the moon, so I guess these are different than last time.
Botan rubs some in his nose.
Kazuki: Quite frankly, I was hoping it would
GM: The Sorimizan guards are now perplexed at why this smelly group is picking their noses in front of them on the middle of the road.
Hida Sashimi inspects it, trying to determine what it is
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
GM: It appears to be some sort of grey ash-like substance. Sashimi is not entirely convinced he wants to know what it originally was. It is definitely not edible, and not something he would consider putting on food.
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [Critical failure!] [1d4+1 = 2]
Kazuki: pff
Hida Sashimi: Oh, why not?
Hida Sashimi rubs some in his nose
GM: The world suddenly smells much better to Sashimi. In fact, he can smell some delicious barbecued river eel from here. His stomach rumbles like the buckling of tetonic plates.
Botan looks in awe that Sashimi's gut can make that much noise.
Kazuki: Well, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go see if I can find enough soap and a cheap bathhouse to get rid of this smell
Chiri gets out a sharp bladed comb that looks like a lethal weapon in the hands of a geisha.
Chiri: She'll be happy to scrub your back.
Kazuki: Thanks for the offer
Kazuki: but I'll pass
Kazuki: Riiiiight
Kazuki: I think Botan is the closest thing to an ally I have in this group
Kazuki: I don't know what Hattori was thinking
Kuutai is confused.
GM: Notice check
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 5]
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 10]
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 9]
Botan: Come, Sashimi-san, time is wasting and food is ready!
Botan grabs Sashimi's hand and heads towards the guards.
Kuutai: Hrm? Your puppet-master? Who is this Hattori you speak of?
Chiri: She thinks there are places of beautiful music within this crumbling edifice of lost souls, and she goes in search of new strings for her biwa.
Kazuki ignores Kuutai
Kazuki heads off to find a place to get himself cleaned off
Chiri heads into the city and disappears from view.
Kuutai Finds a gutter to sleep in, or a library to find new secrets at. Whichever finds him first
GM: Kuutai finds the latter first.
Campaign saved.
