TADM: And now, on a completely unrelated note:
TADM: Best random url of the week: http://www.funnyordie.com/lists/e0cb0351f6/presidential-candidates-explained-through-dungeons-and-dragons-character-sheets
TADM: And now, back to the story:
Evening comes and camp is setup for everyone. Akemi breaks out the pots and pans and begins cooking. Tents are pitched, livestock cared for, and everything settles into its normal rhythm.
During the night, everyone (Fen can choose either Ikuko or Daichi) has the same dream.
TADM: P.S. Yes, Ikuko gets the same visuals.
You find yourself standing in a vast, featureless, icy plain. There is a human-sized Raven standing before you, and nearby, Matsuda Kazuko is kneeling before him.
Raven: How is it going?
Matsuda Kazuko: Poorly, I cannot hunt Oni Lords and train them at the same time. Kuutai remembers almost nothing, Kazuki's mind is too cluttered by shadows, and the woman is useless outside of court politics.
Raven: You will find a way, you always do.
Matsuda Kazuko: Chiri was not with them, I believe the Beast has been unleashed.
Raven: What makes you say that?
Matsuda Kazuko: There was an oni summoning ritual outside Nihana, and the Urakami have been scattered following an attack by an oni lord. I believe the Beast hunts Sanmiiru as we speak.
Raven: You cannot allow the Sage to be killed. Accelerate your training. Or throw them at the Beast in their current state, if they are strong they will live.
Matsuda Kazuko: The Beast will kill them all, it would be safer for me to face it alone.
Raven: They must do it, you know this.
Matsuda Kazuko: I will do what I can.
Raven: The age of the Samurai is ending, Matsuda Kazuko might not live to see the new age, and maybe that is for the best.
Matsuda Kazuko: If my Lord commands it, I shall gladly take my life.
Raven: Then I have one last request to make of you.
There is a crack of thunder, and you awake, clutching your chest and shivering in fear.
Ikuko screams.
Feneril (Ikuko): Is the raven smoking or drinking?
TADM: Yes.
Kazuki: Smarts [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Kazemi (Kazuki): feed me whatever lies you want
TADM: (End of start of session GM monologue, feel free to go from here)
Daichi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): do I still have Fatigue?
Daichi runs into Ikuko's tent.
Kuutai: Smarts [1d6 = 11]
TADM: Yes, until I say, "It is morning."
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -1) [1d6 = 4]
Daichi: What's wrong?
Ikuko: Oh, uh, nothing. I just had a frightening dream...
Ikuko: You may go back to sleep.
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Underworld) [1d6 = 5]
Daichi bows and leaves the tent somewhat bewildered.
Daichi: Smarts [1d6 = 10]
Kazuki: Hey, Daichi, what's up?
Daichi: It is nothing to be concerned about, her ladyship simply had a bad dream
Kazuki: Does that happen often?
Daichi: Not since I have been in her family's service
Kazuki: Well, I suppose she has been through quite a few traumatic things
TADM: Yes, last session Issiko was here.
Daichi: Yes, she is not accustomed to battles with Oni and other such goings on
Kuutai: Does....she actually see things in her dreams?
Feneril (Daichi): She is pretty much accustomed to battles with Issiko though...
Kazuki: Smarts (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -1) [1d6-2 = 1]
Daichi: I would not know. It is not my place to pry.
Kazuki: I can't even begin to imagine what other ways there are
Kuutai: Just curious.
Kazuki: Was Ikuko always blind?
Daichi: Yes, she was born blind. It is well known among the court.
Hida Sashimi: Wow, what a strange dream I just had
Kazuki: Ah, she probably doesn't see things when blind then. But if she did, I wonder what we'd look like...
Kazuki: Maybe we should move the party away from Ikuko's tent?
Kuutai: In Hida's nightmares, he has lost the ability to taste
Kuutai smiles
Ikuko: Notice {-6 Blind, -2 Unskilled} [1d4-8 = -5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): wait, can we see you smiling?
Kazemi (Kazuki): did you forget to put your cloak up?
TADM: It's that wax she puts in her ears to blot out Kazuki's snoring.
Kazuki: So, what were you forced to eat in your dream, Hida?
Hida Sashimi: it was weird. it involved a Raven and Kuutai's friend
Feneril (Ikuko): bow chicka bow-wow
TADM: And also in the news, the notorious gangster Pizza the Hut became trapped in his stretch limo and ate himself to death.
TADM: (I imagine that would be something similar to Hida's nightmares, eating himself.)
Kuutai: I see....HRM....
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 6]
Kuutai: Is....this some sort of omen....
Kazuki: Wait, a giant raven? Sounds like this:
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -1) [1d6-1 = 4]
Kazuki (Raven): The age of Samurai is ending.
Kuutai: In that case, I suggest we leave here at sunrise.
Kazuki: That's the plan
Kazemi (Kazuki): who's the medic in Ikuko's entourage?
Kazemi (Kazuki): I feel like we should know their name
TADM: Akemi, she has a big saw and some spices. Plus she can heat pans really high and use those to cauterized stumps.
TADM: Akemi -> Civil War Medic!
Kazemi (Kazuki): I think my wounds are fine
Kazuki: Well, I'm going back to sleep
Kuutai shrugs, and returns to rest until sunrise.
Hida Sashimi gets a midnight snack, then goes back to sleep
Kazuki zzzz
It is morning.
TADM: (Kazuki, that's your cue for the Fatigue level)
Kazemi (Kazuki): YAY
Kuutai looks for Kazuko
Matsuda Kazuko: Everyone packed?
Kazuki looks for Akemi
Kazuki: What's for breakfast?
Matsuda Kazuko: Chiisai is about two hours from here.
Akemi: Umm...rice, eggs, fowl
Akemi: Oh, and I found a bunch of really large black feathers on the edge of the camp. Looks like a human-sized bird. Do you think it might have been a tengu?
Kuutai: Kazuko, have you talked to anyone particularly keen lately?
Kazuki: What?
Matsuda Kazuko: Keen? No one other than you, old friend.
Kuutai: I see.
Kazuki: No, I think it was a giant raven
Akemi: Ah, I see.
Kuutai runs off to the edge of the camp. Does it look similar to the dreamscape?
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 6]
Kazuki: I hear they're pretty common around Kazuko
TADM: Negative on the similarity.
Ikuko: I had a dream about a bird last night, I don't know what kind it was though. I do not know what ravens look like, but it was a frightening creature
Kuutai looks for feathers
Ikuko shutters.
Hida Sashimi: Indeed. The dream was...most intriguing
Kazuki: Wait, did you see it?
TADM: Kuutai finds no feathers.
Kazemi (Kazuki): to Ikuko
Ikuko: I suppose.
Kazuki: Is that the first time you've seen anything?
Ikuko: The first time I can remember
Akemi: I used the feathers for kindling. They were very brittle and flammable.
Kuutai looks deflated.
Akemi: Which I thought was odd....
Kuutai: you spoony chef!
Kazemi (Kazuki): note to self: set the raven on fire
Kuutai: Don't waste what could be clues!
TADM: note to self: Does Kazemi have a backup character for when he tries that?
Feneril (Ikuko): The only one Akemi spoons with is Hida...
Akemi hits Kuutai on the head with a ladle.
Akemi: It's a ladle, not a spoon. Shut up and eat your porridge.
Kazuki: Please waste whatever clues are necessary to make food
Akemi: Hey, food is the most important thing in the world!
Akemi: Without food, we all die!
Hida Sashimi comes to the defense of my woman
Kazuki: I hear the same can be said of air and water
Akemi: Don't insult my decisions, you oni-summoning murderer!
Quorteth (Kuutai): Wow. She mad.
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
Kazuki tears up
Ikuko: It's too early for this bickering. Why don't we all just eat breakfast and get back underway before someone gets hurt.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 19]
Kazuki: I'm already hurt...
Ikuko: I doubt that.
Akemi: You deserve it!
Kuutai: Sure thing, Ikuko-sama! =)
Hida Sashimi: I agree. Warm food should be eaten when it is warm
Hida Sashimi: Persuasion {+1 Etiquette} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 4]
Sensei: Okay, so everyone has breakfast and the group moves on.
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 9]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} (Wound Penalty -1) [1d6+1 = 3]
Daichi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): pff
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 3]
About two hours later you come to Chiisai. It is a village of five buildings, a couple livestock pens, and several carefully cultivated rice paddies. The "village" looks more like the small estate of a minor noble than anything else.
Ikuko: Knowledge (Nobility) [1d6 = 4]
Kuutai: How quaint.
Kuutai: Notice (Defining Interest (Heraldry +1) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 6]
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [1d6 = 5]
Sensei: As you approach you count 14 people engaged in various tasks. Indeed, as Kuutai remarked, it is a bit "quaint" looking.
Sensei: One of them spots you and walks toward the group.
Seburo: Greetings travelers, I am Seburo, Elder of the Village. Who might you be?
Ikuko: I am Gyoshen Ikuko, and these are my men.
Seburo: It is an honor to meet you.
Seburo bows.
Ikuko bows.
Hida Sashimi bows
Kazuki bows
Kazuki glances at Kuutai
Kuutai: Yes?
Seburo: Welcome to the villlage of Chiisai. What brings you here?
Kuutai: Oh fine.
Kuutai bows
Kuutai: We are on a small errand, we are looking for a sage...
Seburo: Ah, Sanmiiru?
Kuutai: Excellent!
Ikuko: Indeed.
Kuutai: That is the oned!
Ikuko: We have heard that he visits here periodically.
Seburo nods.
Seburo: If he is punctual, he will be visiting in about a week.
Seburo: You are welcome to stay in Chiisai, I regret that we do not have nearly enough space or food to accommodate such a group, but you are welcome nonetheless.
Ikuko: We would hate to impose, we can set up camp just outside your village.
Kuutai: Hrm....I know this may seem....A little demanding, but would you happen to know Sanmiiru's current location?
Seburo: No idea. He comes and goes as he pleases.
Seburo shrugs.
Kuutai sighs.
Ikuko: My men are quite thirsty after such a long journey, where in this town might I find some sake to ease their burdens?
Seburo: Sake?
Seburo: We have some small amount, but typically we buy it from merchants who come from Issho.
Seburo: But we have no sake den where it can be purchased.
Seburo thinks for a minute.
Seburo: But since you are in the area, you can hunt down the oni that is eating our livestock. If you have nothing better to do...
Kazuki: What kind of Oni are we talking about?
Kuutai: What, are they pigging out?
Kuutai: Cause i'd refuse to believe an oni would act sheepish.
Feneril (Ikuko): 6/10
Hida Sashimi: I never got the term livestock. It is very hard to make stock from something that is alive
Kazemi (Kazuki): -1/10
Ikuko: Smarts [1d6 = 3]
Kuutai: Hrm....
Ikuko: Why dont the four of you go hunt down that troublesome Oni. I'll remain in town and have a loot around.
Feneril (Ikuko): look*
TADM: Wow, Freudian slip much?
Kuutai: Very well.
Kuutai: Who is up for a bit of sport?
Kazuki: Sure, sounds fun
Kazuki: Provided I'm not the first attacked this time
Matsuda Kazuko: I'll go.
Daichi: My lady, I would rather not leave you alone in this village...
Kazuki: I always get annihilated on the first attack
Kuutai: Initiative is a cruel master, Kazuki.
Matsuda Kazuko: You need to learn how to dodge, Kazuki. We should work on that.
Ikuko: There is no need to fear Daichi, I will have Tetsuya and Hiroki here and they are more than capable of protecting me for a few hours while you slay that onerous oni
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 17]
Daichi: Smarts [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]
Daichi: Very well My lady. I will go with the others.
Satsuki: Umm...your ladyship, you might have forgotten this, but Tetsuya was killed by the Oni Thunderer...
Ikuko: I wondered why I didn't hear him around any more
Satsuki: That big beast thing...
Kuutai: Seburo...Can you tell us anything about these Oni?
Matsuda Kazuko: Well, then, if Daichi will feel better, I can stay with Ikuko.
Kuutai: Just some reds n blacks?
Kuutai: Or do we have some elites we have to worry about? Chisaii is such a small village, I wouldn't expect....
Seburo: We actually have not seen it. But every day we lose an animal, the thing just comes up missing.
Kuutai: I see.
Kuutai glances at Hida
Seburo: Probably some flying critter carries it off.
Kazuki: When does this happen?
Kuutai: Don't get any ideas.
Seburo: Sometime during the day. Not sure when, we just let our animals roam free and then pen them at night.
Ikuko: That won't be necessary Matsuda, I'm sure I will be safe for the day.
Ikuko: You have Oni to slay!
Matsuda Kazuko: As you wish
Seburo: So, the animals are out wandering over there.
Kazuki: Where are your animals now?
Daichi: Notice [1d6 = 4]
Daichi looks for animals.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 10]
Seburo points to a spot on a nearby hill where a couple dozen Sorimizan Tsuno are contentedly chewing grass.
Kazuki: o.O
Kazuki: Well, I guess to each their own
NOTE: Sorimizan Tsuno look like a hairy rhinoceros, and are about the same size as an African Great White Rhino.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Oh boy.....
Kazuki: And you say that one of THOSE vanishes each day without anybody noticing?
Seburo: Yep.
Ikuko: I should fit right in here
Seburo nods authoritatively.
Kazuki: Smarts [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Oh boy...
Kazuki: Didn't you post someone to watch them?
Seburo: There are only so many of us, we have tasks to perform.
Seburo: Rice to cultivate, etc.
Ikuko: Don't take it personally Seburo, they hassle everyone like this. They can be very rude, but they are quite good at killing monsters.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 35]
Kazemi (Kazuki): MY MIND
Quorteth (Kuutai): DOMINATION
Feneril (Ikuko): Now bring me a shrubbery
Seburo: I defer to your profound wisdom and exceptional judge of character. Truly the people with you are expert-kensei-oni-hunters and I shall inform the world of your considerable grace and skill.
Seburo prostrates himself before Ikuko.
Kuutai guffaws.
TADM: REPUTATION GAINED.
Kuutai bows to Kazuko
Ikuko: You are too kind. Now, why don't you give me a tour of your village while my colleagues hunt down that Oni.
Seburo: Absolutely, right this way!
Seburo bows and scrapes like a brown-nosing bootlicker of the highest order, having been completely dominated by Ikuko's honeyed-words.
Sensei: Okay, so, oni hunting?
Sensei: What's the plan?
Kuutai: Well now. I suggest we build a giant wooden Tsuno and....
Kuutai looks about
Kuutai: No objections to that? awww!
Kazuki: Wait, how many Tsuno do you have right now?
Matsuda Kazuko: Giant, as in larger than normal sized Tsuno?
Seburo: Around 30.
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 16]
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d6 = 11]
Hida Sashimi: worth of Tsuno on the black market
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Underworld) {+1 Yakuza (Def. Interest)} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 3]
Kuutai begins making various grunts and moo noises at the Tsuno
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d6+1 = 14]
Tsuno grunts and snorts at Kuutai.
Hida Sashimi: Notice [1d6 = 8]
Daichi: Kuutai, how is that grunting going to help us find these Oni?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kuutai: Let me ruminate over the available facts for a bit. Then I will tell you.
Nick (Hida Sashimi): brb food
Kuutai continues grunting
Kazuki: How far away are the Tsuno from the village?
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+8 = 14]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 11]
Hida Sashimi: Streetwise {+2 Merchant (Buy/Sell)} [1d8+2 = 6]
Kuutai appears to be grooming the Tsuno.
Kazuki: What are you doing?
Kazuki: Have you ever seen Kuutai get trampled by a herd of Tsuno?
Kuutai: What, don't you have any compassion for these creatures?
Kazuki: Because I think that will be the next thing that you see
Daichi: Clearly not as much as you
Kazuki: I think that goes beyond "Compassion"
Tsuno nuzzles Kuutai, and knocks him flat with his horn.
Daichi: just keep those robes of yours on
Kuutai: You all cry and fret when an oni trashes a dojo or eats some people....but have you ever seen these creatures act out of malice, hate, or greed? You tell me who the monster is!
Daichi: The Oni
Matsuda Kazuko: Man, like normal.
Daichi: That is an easy challenge
Kazuki: Don't Oni hate as well?
Kuutai: Good Question.
Matsuda Kazuko offers some grass to a Tsuno.
Matsuda Kazuko: They are kind of cute, in the "if I stampede you will all die" kind of way.
Kuutai: Aww. What a benevolent soul.
Kuutai: You guys should search around here. I need to go talk to Seburo....for a moment.
Kuutai goes and searches for Seburo.
Seburo: Stealth D10+4 [1d10+4 = 13]
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 11]
Seburo shows up very near Kuutai.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 19]
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+8 = 10]
Kazuki: I think there's 27 of these guys total
Kazuki: Keep your eyes peeled
Kazuki: Stealth (Hide) [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Kuutai: Hello Seburo. So....Other than world class, cage free farm fresh goods, has Chiisai anything...so precious that it would warrant attention, specifically that of something....malevolent?
Kazuki heads off with some rice balls to start a stakeout
Seburo: Nope, nothing to speak of, why do you ask?
Kuutai: Hrm...Interesting.
Ikuko: Streetwise {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d8+8 = 11]
Kuutai: I think your Tsuno problem is secondary. Oni are Here for something else.
Seburo: Really? And what would that be?
Seburo: Why would oni come here?
Seburo looks suspicious at Kuutai.
Seburo: Unless they came here to lay an ambush for you!
Kuutai: Not sure, ergo the question. Every village no doubt has a story, I was just curious if something of value to it was stored here.
Seburo: Did you bring them here?
Seburo: What among the people traveling with you would bring them here?
Seburo points finger at Kuutai.
Kuutai: Oni avoid me.
Kuutai: They know what's good for them.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [Critical failure!] [1d12+8 = 9]
Matsuda Kazuko heads off in the opposite direction from Kazuki to look for oni tracks.
Ikuko is using a benny
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d6+8 = 12]
Kazemi (Kazuki): ROFL
Daichi follows Kazuko.
Daichi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Hida Sashimi: hmmmm... there must be something
Matsuda Kazuko: Stealth [1d8 = 7]
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Underworld) {+1 Yakuza (Def. Interest)} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+1 = 5]
Matsuda Kazuko somehow loses Daichi and comes up missing when she walks back into the village.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 19]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 13]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 18]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 6]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 12]
Feneril (Ikuko): brb, need more drinky-drink.
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d6+2 = 7]
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [Critical failure!] [1d8+2 = 3]
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d8+2 = 8]
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d8+2 = 7]
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 4]
Kazuki: Stealth [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 3]
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 7]
Kazuki: Stealth [1d8 = 6]
Kazuki carefully watches the Tsuno all day long...well, until he falls flat on his face, rolls down the hill, and lands in a giant pile of Tsuno crap. Aside from that, he is quite convinced there are still 27 Tsuno present at the end of the day.
Kazuki: Bad day
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 12]
Kazemi (Kazuki): river plz
Sensei: The day passes. The villagers come out and get their Tsuno and take them back to the pens.
TADM: There is a stream nearby.
Kazemi (Kazuki): kthnx
Kazuki cleans himself up and gets another kimono out
Kazuki: Luck [1d4 = 2]
Seburo: How amazing! No Tsuno are missing today. Perhaps these expert-kensei who are servants of the renowned Lady Gyoshen Ikuko scared off the oni?
Hida Sashimi: Perhaps
Kuutai cackles.
Hida Sashimi helps Akemi make dinner for our group
Hida Sashimi: Kn (Cooking) {+1 Food (Def. Interest)} [1d4+1 = 7]
Matsuda Kazuko shows up around dinner time.
Kuutai: May I suggest we use tomorrow to ensure the safety of Sanmiiru, and find him before something else does?
Matsuda Kazuko: I could find no tracks or indications of oni around here.
Daichi: I am surprised that Kuutai's grunting didn't draw them out.
Kazuki: It could be airborn
Hida Sashimi: Something is definitely...odd about this village, but I'm not sure what.
Matsuda Kazuko: Quite possibly.
Ikuko: At least Sanmiiru should be here in a few days.
Kazuki: It could also be something that they just made up to keep us out of the village
Kuutai: Quiet, slave. (glares at Daichi)
Ikuko: Well, none of them have ever seen the Oni. They simply assume it is an Oni killing their livestock.
Kuutai: Kazuki - You are once again too wise to be properly appreciated.
Ikuko: It could well be a case of an ordinary thief
Hida Sashimi: WAIT! I thought someone said that the sage comes to this town for sake, but they have no sellers of sake! Right?
Hida Sashimi has been awarded a benny
Kuutai: Oh Snap!
Nick (Hida Sashimi): IT'S A TARP!
Ikuko: I spoke to Akamura while you were out
Kuutai: Ikuko - ordinary theives know to go for small, lightweight, easily concealable items. Tsuno are none of the above.
Quorteth (Kuutai): oh lol
Ikuko: He tells me that Sanmiiru should be here in a few days.
Matsuda Kazuko: So what's the plan?
Kuutai: Well I am not sure we want to wait
Matsuda Kazuko: I agree that Sanmiiru could be in danger.
Kazuki: Oni have little reason to hide from a small village and steal from it at the same time
Kuutai: Something graced this village recently, and my guess its after the sage.
Kuutai: We just need a lead - where is he now? Which direction does he come from when he comes into town?
Kuutai: It would be most useful to know any of that
Ikuko: How many roads are there that go through this town?
Ikuko: We came from that way...
Ikuko points towards Iisho
Ikuko: And we didn't run into him
Sensei: There are no "roads" that lead to Chiisai.
Sensei: Given what you have heard of Sanmiiru, it is safe to conclude that he comes from the forest of Sekisho, which is east of the village. You came northeast to reach Chiisai from Issho.
Kuutai: Well then. Who here dares venture into the forest?
Kazuki: I'll do it
Kuutai: I surmise that, as Kazuki has said, our oni may not even leave tracks
Kazuki: But Kazuko did it earlier and didn't find anything
Matsuda Kazuko: Did what?
Kuutai: Right, but Sanmiiru is 7 ish DAYS out
Kazuki: Didn't you go and check out the forest earlier for tracks?
Matsuda Kazuko: I checked around the village, I did not go into the forest. The forest is over a day east of here.
Sensei: It is getting dark. What would the group like to do?
Kuutai: Bah! lets rest and head out tomorrow.
Sensei: Perhaps you should not post any guards and consume lots of food that Akemi is preparing for you?
Nick (Hida Sashimi): What, my 7 in cooking meant nothing?
Sensei: And Hida helped!
Kuutai: I should stay on watch for at least a while this night
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 4]
Daichi: I will take second watch. Wake me when you need rest Kuutai.
Kuutai: Sure.
Matsuda Kazuko: I will stand watch with you, old friend.
Kuutai: Excellent.
Hida Sashimi: As a test of my new cooking skills, thanks to my beautiful teacher, I would like you all to try my first attempt
Kuutai: Im listening.
Ikuko: Of course, I would be delighted to.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 12]
Quorteth (Kuutai): brb 10
Hida Sashimi talks to Akemi, saying that we should thank the village for their hospitality and share her food with them
Hida Sashimi: Persuasion {+1 Etiquette} [1d6+1 = 6]
Akemi: That's a great idea.
Akemi heads over to offer food to the villagers. They gratefully accept the food and then head back into a couple of the buildings for their nightly meals.
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) [1d6 = 11]
Ikuko: How uncharacteristically generous of you!
Matsuda Kazuko: Yes...
Hida Sashimi: Smarts [1d6 = 11]
Kuutai: HRM
Kuutai: I smell trouble cooking.
Kuutai: Hida, come here for a moment.
Hida Sashimi: I'd rather not
TADM: If paranoia had a smell, my players would need to shower all the time...
Quorteth (Kuutai): Lulz Quote Page.
Kuutai: Neither would I. Come now.
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 8]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Hida Sashimi: Spirit [1d8 = 4]
Hida Sashimi: Grrr okay fine
Kuutai steps outside and appears to be on watch.
Campaign saved.
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 7]
Hida Sashimi: what is it?
Seburo: D10 [1d10 = 8]

Sensei: And a Notice check from Kuutai and Daichi
Kuutai: Notice [Critical failure!] [1d10 = 1]
Kuutai is using a benny

Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Campaign saved.
Daichi: Notice [1d6 = 5]
Sensei: Hida and Kuutai spot Kazuki climbing up to the roof of a building and heading towards the building Seburo walked into a short while ago. He gets about 10 steps along the rooftop when a shadow detaches itself from the far side of the building, hits him in the guts before he can react and sends him flying through the air. Then the attacker leaps on him while he is flying, drives him into the roof and uses him as a surfboard off the side of the roof.
Ikuko's Servants: Oooh! Aahh!
Akemi: That looked painful.
Ikuko: I'll take your word for it.
Kazuki: This is painful
Kuutai snaps his fingers
Kuutai: Spellcasting [1d10 = 8]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I swear to God, if you set me on fire...
Kuutai's eyes light up
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 5]
Quorteth (Kuutai): Anything more visable to me now?
Round 1
The deck has been shuffled.
Dealing cards...

Aya: Fighting {+1 Empty Hands} [1d10+1 = 10]
Aya: Empty Hands damage (non-lethal) [2d6 = 14]
Sensei: The thing attacking Kazuki leaps up, snaps a whip at his eyes, and then does a pile-driver into his chest.
TADM: Agility to avoid being like Ikuko.
Kazuki: Agility {+2 Acrobat} [1d8+2 = 16]
Kazemi (Kazuki): Way to motivate me
Feneril (Ikuko): You don't want to be young, beautiful and wealthy?
Sensei: Kazuki manages to move his head out of the way, but does not manage to get his sternum free of the landing.
Kazuki (shaken)
Matsuda Kazuko: Suppose we should help him.
Akemi: Popcorn will be ready in two minutes!
Kuutai: Sure!
Daichi: I think he got himself into this one.
Kazuki: Spirit (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -2) [1d6-3 = 6]
Kazemi (Kazuki): lol take that spirit check!
Round 2
Dealing cards...
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -2) [Critical failure!] [1d6-1 = 0]
Kazemi (Kazuki): I"M BLIND
Sensei: The creature leaps up from Kazuki and runs off towards the buildings.
Kazuki
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 10]
Matsuda Kazuko: Well, he does not appear to have died this time.
Matsuda Kazuko walks over to Kazuki.
Kazuki: Ouch
Hida Sashimi: Not yet, anyway
Matsuda Kazuko: So, did you learn anything?
Kazuki: I think that was Chiri
Kazuki: Also, ow
Matsuda Kazuko: Interesting.
Kazuki: I should try that on the ground next time
Matsuda Kazuko heads after the fleeing person.
Daichi: Why would you want to try that again?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 5]
Kazuki: I am very tired
Kazuki: But, I think Kazuko's going to try to kill her
Kazuki: Hida! Get the finest wine you have!
Kazuki is still laying on the ground
Kuutai: Notice [Critical failure!] [1d10 = 1]
Sensei: Kuutai hears someone....
Kazuki: Oh no! Kuutai has been blinded as well
Sensei: The voice sounds familiar.
Kazuki: Down here
Hida Sashimi: Wine? All I hear is whine. Why would I want more?
Kazuki: I hear fat is flamible
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 2]
Kuutai is using a benny
Kuutai: Smarts [1d6 = 7]
Kazuki gets up, with some difficulty
Akemi: Popcorn is done!
Akemi: Oh, and I made some chocolate muffins!
Akemi: Awww...is the fighting over?
Hida Sashimi: Did you... happen to use some of the spices the villiagers gave you for them?
Akemi: Muffins?
Kazuki: Why do you think something was in those herbs?
Akemi: Who puts thyme and coriander in muffins?
Kuutai: Who uses feathers as fuel?
Akemi: Especially chocolate muffins?
Kazuki points to Kuutai
Akemi looks at Kuutai.
Kuutai feels popular.
Akemi: Hmm...I suppose you have a point. It was a fair question.
Kazuki: So, who wants to follow after and see if we can save Chiri and bring her back to the light?
Seburo runs out to see what is going on.
Kuutai: Chiri?
Seburo: What is going on out here?
Seburo: Is everyone okay?
Kuutai: I will follow your hijinks, Kazuki!
Kuutai looks at Seburo, eyes glowing.
Kazuki: Do you have a remedy for ice picks in one's chest?
Kuutai: Everything is just fine.
Seburo: Move faster.
Kazuki: ?!
Kazuki glares at Seburo
Seburo: Well, if you have a problem with getting things stuck in your chest, you should move faster to avoid them.
Seburo: Common sense really.
Seburo looks at Kazuki.
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -2) [1d4-2 = 0]
Kazuki: You're a genius
Kazuki's voice is dripping with sarcasm
Kuutai: Chiri was what you were grappling with up there Kazuki?
Kazuki: No clue, but it was small, fast, and feminine
Seburo: Well, if everything is okay, I will go back to dinner. Have a good evening.
Seburo walks back into his house.
Ikuko: You too Seburo
Akemi joins other servants eating popcorn.
Kuutai: That Seburo guy....he must be retired and enjoying life here. Either that or he is hiding a dark secret.
TADM: (POLL) Dark Secret?
Sensei: So, what is the group doing now?
Sensei: Because time is passing...
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} (Wound Penalty -1, Fatigue Penalty -2) [1d6-1 = 10]
Kazuki looking for the ninja-shadow and Kazuko
Ikuko: Kazuki, would you join me in my tent for a word. This business has me a bit worried.
Matsuda Kazuko: Stealth [1d8 = 11]
Aya: Stealth [1d6+2 = 13]
Ikuko enters her tent.
Kuutai Joins Kazuki, out of duty to Kazuko
Akemi walks over to Hida.
Akemi whispers something naughty in his ear.
Kazuki: OK
Kazuki does not walk in a straight line
Hida Sashimi Hida expects a few Vigor checks in his future
Sensei: So Ikuko, Kazuki, and Kuutai walk into the tent...
Kuutai: NoSkill [1d4 = 3]
Hida Sashimi and maybe an Agility check to prevent throwing out his back
Daichi prevents Kuutai from entering the tent.
Daichi: Notice [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d6+2 = 7]
TADM: Definitely that for Hida...
Kuutai: ....Well hell. Ok then
Kuutai Looks for Kazuko
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 16]
Hida Sashimi: Agility [1d6 = 5]
Kazemi (Kazuki): o.O
Kazuki: Hey, can you use persuasion to get rid of Fatigue levels?
Kazuki: "Stop being Fatigued"
TADM: No.
Kazemi (Kazuki): what about healing?
TADM: Nope
Kazemi (Kazuki): "Heal those wounds"
Kazemi (Kazuki): What's your tent look like inside?
Feneril (Daichi): How the hell should Ikuko know?
Kazemi (Kazuki): Daichi should
Kazemi (Kazuki): and Kazuki should
TADM: Well, this is an unexpected turn of events....
TADM: I blame paranoia from previous campaigns.
Quorteth (Kuutai): is lost. Kazuki has a rooftop battle with an as of yet shadow entity, something may or may not have been in spicees.....
Feneril (Ikuko): No paranoia on my part, just plain old silly fun :p
Kazuki: mine was paranoia based on poor judgement of another character
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d6+6 = 23]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d6+6 = 13]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d12+6 = 17]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d12+6 = 26]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d12+6 = 17]
Hida Sashimi: Vigor {+1 Mark} [1d8+1 = 14]
Hida Sashimi: Vigor {+1 Mark} [1d8+1 = 6]
Hida Sashimi: Vigor {+1 Mark} [1d8+1 = 7]
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} (-2) [1d12+6 = 20]
Kazuki: Vigor [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 7]
Sensei: For the best line EVER recorded in a gaming session (which may or may not make it into the chat log) Kazuki gets +1 benny. And maybe some other random intangible things...
Kazuki has been awarded a benny
Kazuki: Vigor [Critical failure!] [1d6 = 1]
Kazuki: Vigor [1d6 = 13]
Sensei: On an unrelated note - Hida has a great night and really relaxes and burns off plenty of calories.
Campaign saved.
Kazuki: Smarts (Escaping! +1) [1d6+1 = 6]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 8]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 3]
Kazuki: Smarts Trick {+2 Shadow Arts} [1d6+2 = 12]
Kazuki: Smarts [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 2]
Sensei: All right...so...in Ikuko's tent...strange things are happening...
TADM: Let me roll on the "random chance of pregnancy chart" - because that would be HILARIOUS!
Kazuki: Luck [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 11]
Kazemi (Kazuki): take that as you will
TADM: Hmm....
Hida Sashimi: afk brb
Kazemi (Kazuki): Do my fatigue levels go away?
Kazemi (Kazuki): do I take a full wound from this?
TADM: The lightbulb above Kuutai's head just turned into a 5000w Halogen Lamp.
Sensei: I get the feeling this chat log is going to be about 80% shorter without the whispers.
Quorteth (Kuutai): Its like a session where everyone is a ninja. Absolutely nothining happened, and as such there is no report to mention at this time. Signed, No one.
Kazuko and Kuutai walk back into camp. Akemi and Hida are off "doing things." Kazuki and Ikuko are nowhere to be seen. Daichi is standing in front of Ikuko's tent and looking a bit surlier than normal.
Satsuki: I get the feeling I'm missing something.
Tomoko: No kidding, being an extra with an unskilled Notice check...sheesh
Matsuda Kazuko: So, in the morning we go back to hunting oni, old friend?
Kuutai: Yes....jsut trying to think
Matsuda Kazuko: Well, you are quite good at that, from time to time.
Kuutai: The last time we meet one of this clan, he was skunk drunk and seemingly without any semblance of tact or manner
Kuutai: I wonder what he was doing there. I doubt it was without cause.
Matsuda Kazuko: They take all kinds.
Kuutai looks to Daichi.
Matsuda Kazuko: And they have many causes, I would say over half are noble.
Kuutai: That's suprisingly good odds, given the state of things!
Matsuda Kazuko: Indeed, old friend. Better than we normally see.
Kuutai: Hello Good and Loyal Guard of the Lady, Daichi. Have you seen anything....suspicious this evening?
Daichi: Not since Kazuki was attacked by a weird shadow thing
Kazemi (Kazuki): and since Ikuko dragged him into her chambers
Daichi: I think the Lady Ikuko wanted to.. .explain to him the importance of not wandering off into the night and putting himself in danger like that
Kazemi (Kazuki): and all the weird noises coming out
Tomoko: And Akemi made us this great popcorn
Kazemi (Kazuki): Does popcorn take thyme?
Kuutai: I trust Ikuko showed him proper things to do during the evening, rather than play on peoples rooftops?
TADM: You have no idea, you didn't get any.
Daichi: Smarts [1d6 = 10]
Satsuki snickers.
Daichi: I don't like your tone. That's my lady your talking about.
Kuutai: Notice (Defining Interest (Heraldry +1) [1d10+1 = 6]
Sensei: Okay, so I think we are down to Kuutai's hijinks before it becomes morning.
Kazemi (Kazuki): not my fault...
TADM: You are 50% correct this time.
Sensei: So the sun rises the next morning...and it is a slightly different world that greets it at dawn.
Kuutai: Hrm....I am begining to remember some things, Kazuko.
Matsuda Kazuko: Good to hear
Kuutai: Thank thee for rekindling....experiences.
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 8]
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 11]
Matsuda Kazuko: Let's go find this "oni"
Kazemi (Kazuki): you see nothing
Mayumi: Err...mister Kazuki, sir, you seem to have left your loincloth in Ikuko's tent.
Feneril (Ikuko): You'd think my servants would understand subtlety...
Kazuki: Ah, pardon me
TADM: They might be snickering too much...I'm sure they will behave in town.
Kuutai: What colorful clothes!
Matsuda Kazuko: Yes indeed.
Matsuda Kazuko: Come on Kazuki, we need to find the oni-eating Tsuno.
Kuutai: I agree!
Ikuko: Don;t you mean Tsuno-eating Oni?
Kuutai: Come, circus! Onto the next act!
Matsuda Kazuko pauses.
Matsuda Kazuko: Quite possibly.
Kazuki: So, any luck last night tracking down the Shadow?
Kuutai: Maybe.
Matsuda Kazuko: Oh...possibly.
Matsuda Kazuko: But nothing for you to worry about. It was not Chiri.
Matsuda Kazuko takes Kazuki and Kuutai out into the Tsuno field and teaches them how to track, identify different herbs, and stealthily move through the fields.
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 9]
Kuutai: I see....Thanks for teaching me these things...Learning is always....fun...
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Sensei: That afternoon, given that there are still 27 Tsuno. Kazuko starts sparring practice with Kazuki and Daichi.
Seburo walks over to the camp.
Seburo: Lady Ikuko, how are you this day?
Ikuko: I am well.
Ikuko: And yourself Seburo?
Seburo: I am excellent.
Seburo: How are your people doing? Everyone survived that "whatever" last night?
Sensei: The day passes peacefully, barring the player's doing something to change that....
Ikuko: Yes, we endured. I imagine it was more afraid of us than we were of it.
Kuutai: We can wait here for Sanmiiru.
Kuutai: We should treasure these calm moments, for they will be our last....
Seburo: Ah, so some random creature...I see.
Kuutai cackles like a maniac.
Matsuda Kazuko: Kuutai and I will stand second watch tonight Daichi, if you can keep on eye on things for first watch, that would be good.
Daichi: Of course.
Daichi: Notice [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 5]
Sensei: The night also passes uneventfully.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 5]
Kazuki: Stealth {+2 Thief} [1d8+2 = 7]
TADM: Kuutai Lightbulb is now 7500w halogen.
Sensei: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d4+1 = 2]
Sensei: The next morning....
Seburo: Good morning Lady Ikuko, I have news for you and your expert-kensei-warriors. Sanmiiru will meet with you. He can be found by a small cave an hours walk inside the eaves of the forest.
Ikuko: Thank you Seburo. We are most gracious for your hospitality these past few days. We won't trouble you any longer.
Ikuko bows.
Seburo: You should make it by tomorrow afternoon, assuming you leave your entourage at the edge of the forest.
Seburo bows.
Kazuki: Wait, how do you know?
Seburo: Perhaps a large bird or a small fox told me?
Seburo gives Kazuki a wry grin.
Kazuki: Persuasion (Acting) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 8]
Matsuda Kazuko: Okay, let's be on our way.
Kazuki tilts his head
Kuutai follows.
Sensei: The group heads out and makes good time, better time than Seburo suggested. By nightfall you reach the edge of the forest. Ikuko's people setup camp, food is prepared. Life is quiet and peaceful for the evening. Strangely, there is no sound of oni in the distance.
Matsuda Kazuko points out different types of herbs, remedies, and different tricks to moving through the wilds as the group moves along.
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 4]
Kuutai: Notice [1d6 = 4]
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 2]
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 7]
The next morning the five of you (Kuutai, Kazuki, Ikuko, Daichi, and Kazuko) head into the forest. Hida and the servants stay behind to maintain the camp.
Kazemi (Kazuki): And do "other things"
TADM: Yes, that also.
TADM: Ikuko and Kazuki can do "other things" in the forest.
Kuutai: At least we don't have that damnable sun shining so brightly on us in here...
Wandering through the forest for a short while, you come to a small cave along a ridgeline with a stream passing in front of it. A small fire with a group of fresh-caught-fish spitted above it is crackling nicely.
Kazuki: Why do you hate the sun so much?
Matsuda Kazuko: His eyes were burned out by a hot poker once, he developed an irrational fear of bright things after that.
Ikuko: not so irrational if you ask me
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 8]
Matsuda Kazuko: I guess that kind of thing sticks with you.
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [1d6+2 = 9]
Kuutai: Hrm....Something is.....special about this place
Sensei: An old man walks into the glade from the trees. His head is bald, his skin greatly wrinkled and tan, and a staff made of white wood is in his hands.
Sanmiiru: Ah, so you have come.
Matsuda Kazuko bows.
Kuutai bows deeply and holds it in reverence.
Ikuko: You must be Sanmiiru, it is a pleasure to finally meet you.
Ikuko bows.
Kazuki bows
Sanmiiru: It is I who is honored to meet you.
Sanmiiru bows.
Kuutai: Oh really?
Sanmiiru: I may know the answer already, but I will ask - what errand brings you here?
Sanmiiru looks at Ikuko.
Sanmiiru looks around at the others.
Kuutai: Great Sage, we seek to put to put and end to, or at least re-seal, an oni lord, who has been set free by as of yet an unidentified antagonist who may or may not be this man's (points to Kazuki)'s doppeganger
Sanmiiru shakes his head.
Kazuki: He seems to be using my name, likeness, and fashion sense
Kuutai: And of course, stop the transformation from progressing.
Sanmiiru looks at Kazuki.
Sanmiiru: Ah, you.
Sanmiiru: No, the Oni Lord you seek, who is using this one's name - is not a concern of yours.
Kuutai: Wha...WHAT?
Sanmiiru smiles at Kazuki's question.
Kazuki: I think that's rather cold
Kazuki: Who am I?
Sanmiiru: "Who am I?" - What a delightfully insightful question.
Sanmiiru: You may spend your entire life looking for that answer.
Sanmiiru: Some have spent several lifetimes looking for that answer.
Sanmiiru rotates the fish on the spit.
Sanmiiru: Lunch?
Kazuki: Sure
Kazuki bows
Sanmiiru hands Kazuki a fish.
Kuutai: Why thank you so much, you are a most hospitable host. Is this place your permanent residence?
Feneril (Ikuko): a distand rumbling is heard as Hida Sashima runs through the forrest...
Kazuki: We left our chef back at the forest's edge
Sanmiiru: This is one of my homes.
Ikuko: Sanmiiru, I do not know if word has reached you this far out, but Elder Tie thought you might want to know that Lin Magami is dead.
Sanmiiru sighs.
Sanmiiru: Then the world has grown dark indeed.
Kazuki: I have a single jar of sake, if you'd like some
Sanmiiru: The Magami line is ended.
Sanmiiru looks at Kazuki.
Kazemi (Kazuki): pardon?
Ikuko: Not entirely. Her son still lives, he is safe with Elder Tie now.
Sanmiiru: You shall have more need of Sake than I do.
Sanmiiru looks at Ikuko.
Sanmiiru: Lin Magami had no son. I would know.
Kuutai: Then....What...What?
Kazuki: Then who was Botan?
Sanmiiru: I do not know who this Botan is that you speak of.
Kazuki: Hm. We were told he was her son, and it turns out he has an amazing affinity for each of the elements
Sanmiiru: Hmm...fascinating. Very fascinating.
Sanmiiru furrows his brow in thought.
Sanmiiru: Perhaps....
Sanmiiru: I must think about this.
Sanmiiru looks back at Kazuki.
Sanmiiru: But, I did not mean to sound so cold when it comes to your "oni lord."
Sanmiiru: But there is no "oni lord" that seeks you.
Kuutai: No problems there. Oh really? Now that in most interesting.
Kazuki looks visibly releaved
Kazuki: So, what does "my" oni lord seek, if not me?
Sanmiiru: You made the misfortune of striking a bargain with dark powers and not honoring your debt. Many innocents suffered to appease them.
Sanmiiru: There is much blood on your hands, even if you can't see it yet and don't know why.
Kazemi (Kazuki): is that to me?
Sensei: Yes, he is talking directly to Kazuki with those last two lines.
Kuutai: What did he get from the Oni? he doesn't appear powerful or wealthy....a klondike bar? I mean what WOULD do you for one of those?
Kazuki looks surprised
TADM: That is almost benny-worthy Kuutai...but Kazuki raised the BAR really high tonight.
Sanmiiru: As to stopping the Transformation, that is something I can assist you with.
Kuutai: Wait wait...
Kuutai: I have mild to severe amnesia. Kazuki doesn't know if he got the frozen treat or not. There seems to be a common thread of missing memmories.....Now THAT is something I want to hear first!
Ikuko: I have no missing memories
Kazuki: Ditto
Kuutai: But if you did, would you know they are missing?
Sanmiiru looks at Kuutai.
Sanmiiru: What did Kazuki get from the Oni Lord? It was a bargain, lives for lives. Made in haste and without proper payment.
Kazuki: The real question is this: How do you know that your memories are actually yours?
Ikuko: The details of my early life were well documented by court chroniclers.
Sanmiiru: And when payment was not made, the lives taken had to be ripped from somewhere.
Kuutai: You seem to know enough on the matter to speak of it cryptically. I respect that. =)
Ikuko: You seem to know a great deal. Tell me, Sanmiiru, do you know anything of my father?
Sanmiiru looks at Ikuko.
Sanmiiru: Yes.
Sanmiiru looks back at the fire with the cooking fish.
Ikuko: Then you must know he is a man of justice and respect. A man who seeks knowledge from all sources. I'm sure he would be most interested in meeting with you.
Ikuko: Persuasion {+10 Charisma, -2 Blind} [1d12+8 = 16]
Sanmiiru: My, what pretty tales you tell. Have you ever considered learning how to play the Shimasen and talking up the path of the Goze?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 6]
Kazuki: Common Knowledge [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6 = 4]
Ikuko laughs politely.
Ikuko: I have always had a taste for music, but the daughters of great houses must be wed into great houses, it is the way of things.
Feneril (Ikuko): And I must go to bed soon, as it is midnight...
Kuutai: Well then, about the transformation; I have two questions. First, how often do people become spirited away or bliped out of reality by it? We had a casein which we were helping a family cure there son of a disease, when we came back with the materials to make the cure, the daughter was completely missing, and no one had ever heard of her
Sanmiiru laughs.
Kuutai: Or is this attributable to a mischevious spirit?
Kazuki: Or the town's protective Kami
Sanmiiru: Oh, so you met Otsu?
Sanmiiru: Well done!
Sanmiiru claps.
Kazemi (Kazuki): that to me?
TADM: To the group, it's not all about Kazuki
Kuutai: I see.
Sanmiiru: She has blessed your quest. I guess the kitsune was right.
Sanmiiru chuckles.
Kuutai: Interesting.
Kazuki: Who is "Otsu"?
Kazuki: Kn(Lore & Legends) {+1 Defining Interest} [1d4+1 = 3]
Sanmiiru: The Transformation...was caused when the seals between Konoyo and Anoyo broke on the day of the Crimson Coronation.
Kuutai: A tetsun priestess of Amaterasu gives a kojin a doll, and spirits off. thats adorable.
Sanmiiru: She has her reasons, I am sure.
Sanmiiru: But the seals must be repaired. It will not fix the damage, but it will stop things from getting worse.
Kuutai: I see i see....
Kazuki: What should be done?
Sanmiiru: Through long years, I have procured some of the ingredients, and the means. I no longer have the strength to do so. If Otsu has blessed your quest, then you are the ones to do it.
Sanmiiru: You must take a Celestial Elixir to spots where the Veeru is weak and pour three drops of it on the ground.
Sanmiiru: To create the elixir you need, you must mix the ingredients I have found with three extra ones. Those ingredients are: parts of a red kappa shell, a handful of Seien hair, and three feathers from a Silver Wing Tengu. Once you have those, and my ingredients, you must mix them in a clay bowl that has not been touched by the technology of the Iron Dynasty. Then boil them on the altar at the at the summit of Niidoru when the Celestial Palace is visible.
Sanmiiru heads into his cave and comes out with some "presents."
Sanmiiru gives Daichi two vials of liquid and a glass tube with a pair of glowing golden hairs inside.
Kuutai: Notice [1d10 = 15]
Kuutai: Smarts [1d10 = 5]
Kazuki: Wait, two hairs counts as a handful?
Kazuki: Notice {+2 Alertness} [Trait roll was a natural 1] [1d6+2 = 5]
Sanmiiru gives Kazuki a long black stiched piece of cloth. (It looks like a giant bandana.)
Kazuki: Smarts [1d6 = 5]
Feneril (Daichi): DONT BURN IT THIS TIME
Feneril (Ikuko): And consider that an order from Ikuko
Sanmiiru: No, these are not Seien Hair...those are a different ingredient. I was never able to collect any Seien hair.
Kuutai: Thank.....you
Kazuki: Oh, oK
Kuutai is humbled.
Sanmiiru hands Daichi a scroll case (for Ikuko)
Sanmiiru: The exact instructions for the Elixir are in there, as well as a note from her uncle. The disowned one.
Sanmiiru looks back at Ikuko.
Sanmiiru: It will make sense in time.
Daichi: Of course.
Daichi (Mumbling): it certainly doesn't make much sense now...
Sanmiiru gives Kuutai the white staff he has been walking with.
Sanmiiru looks at Kuutai.
Kuutai looks overwhelmed.
Sanmiiru: That staff has been my companion for many years, and was gifted by the Celestials in a prior age. It all else fails, it can give you direction - but be warned, it gives you the direction the Celestials want, but perhaps not necessarily where you should go.
Kuutai: I see...
TADM: Tune in next week for, "Reap what you have sown!"
Campaign saved.
