Democles is bravely hiding behind Tilpi, who is certain she is smelling a decent amount of urine and feces from the scholar.
Tilpi rolls an Insight test:
Target: 12 Focus: 1 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.14+1d20.19 = 33]
You did not succeed.
Rhotinia can see a wooden ladder propped against the wall that leads up.
Rhotinia climbs the ladder
Her educated Ophirean guess is... it leads to a fake sewer cover in the street.
Rhotinia: This way Volmalric, I don't know where the escape tunnel leads but anywhere is better than the flaming building full of men trying to kill us
And.... she is right!
Rhotinia: Now where is Tilpi...
Tilpi rolls an Animal Handling test:
Target: 12 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.4+1d20.6 = 10]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Rhotinia rolls an Observation test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.15+1d20.16 = 31]
You did not succeed.
Rhotinia looks around for Tilpi
Rhotinia whistles for her horse
Rhotinia rolls an Animal Handling test:
Target: 14 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.1+1d20.18 = 19]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Volmalric: The odds of it being worse off are astronomically low
Volmalric: Shame for your friend, by the way
Volmalric: Though fortunate that he appears to have been pointing us right at Democles
Tack (Tilpi): All the sudden I feel like the onus of making a terrible decision has been lifted from my shoulders.
Volmalric: Who I hope is okay
Rhotinia, Volmalric, and Asgrim are now about 50m from the building, which is burning. In the distance, you spot what looks like fighting (not Tilpi and the others) in both directions down the street between guards and undead and ghouls and who knows what else.
Rhotinia: Lefty's death is tragic, but he did lead a dangerous life
Rhotinia: I suspect Cilissa's men would have killed him anyways if we hadn't shown up when we did
Rhotinia: But the fact that his questioners were still in the room when we arrived implies that they did not learn what they came there for
Rhotinia: And whatever Lefty knew died with him. But he knew we were being listened to, so I have no doubt that his directive to seaward street was either coded or just nonsense to throw off Cilissa's men.
Rhotinia: We need to find Tilpi and the others
Volmalric: We blew up the interrogators, correct?
Rhotinia: Yes
Volmalric: Excellent, fire is good at erasing notes
Rhotinia: If we are lucky, maybe that kid knows where Lefty fence's books and scrolls
Rhotinia: We may be able to talk directly to his fence
Rhotinia ponders for a moment while looking around for her horse
Volmalric: If we're lucky, they're not in there
Tilpi Shouts angrily at Democles for being a coward, causing him to freeze in further panic. Tilpi then loads him onto the back of the horse like a sack of grain or other trade good, as Rhotinia's horse would be used to such things. She then calmly persuades Bridgit to come along now, and it is for the best.
Volmalric: Also, we're going to want to put some distance between us and that place
Tilpi rolls a Counsel test:
Target: 13 Focus: 4 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 3 Momentum: 2 [1d20.12+1d20.2 = 14]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Tilpi rolls a Counsel test:
Target: 13 Focus: 4 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [2d20.6 = 12]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Kazemi (Volmalric): In my head, Democles froze in place and Tilpi just picked him up like a cardboard cutout and stuck him on the back of the horse
That would be an entirely accurate rendition of the event.

Feneril:
[1d6.5 = 5]
Rhotinia's horse bolts out the door and runs around a corner and just down the street to where her master is waiting, along with Volmalric and Asgrim. It takes all of Tilpi's considerable skill in Animal Handling to keep the mostly useless Democles and the vegetative Bridgit on the horse as it gallops under heavy strain. The animal slows to a halt in front of its beloved master, which causes Tilpi to have to choose which of the two helpless people she is going to keep on the horse with her.
Democles: Ouch...
Democles falls to the ground.
Rhotinia helps Democles up
Rhotinia: We should get out of here
Rhotinia: Is that kid with you?
Democles is no longer trying to cover the fact he has suffered bowel evacuation in fear.
Tilpi is riding Rhotinia's horse, which is recognizable only after a quick double-take. The designs on the once embellished saddle are wholly covered by wide-leafed, colorful wildflowers, and it's head is sporting an elegant wreathe of irises topped off by one gigantic sunflower. Herbal scents overwhelm your senses and offer a placid moment, with sweet notes masking the sour smell of fresh cut greenery.
Asgrim: That is the most non-terrifying and adorable horse armor I have ever seen!
Tilpi blushes at Asgrim's kind words
Democles: Cilissa...
Rhotinia: I won't want to leave him to the mercy of Cilissa's minions
Democles: Uhh...
Volmalric: Oh no
Democles: Cilissa is fighting Sophie.
Tilpi: We must go to Sophie's aid at once!
Rhotinia: The only way we can stop Cilissa is to find that tome
Volmalric: Killing Cilissa right this moment is probably enough to cause the town guard to break
Volmalric: Now is probably not the best time, but if Sophie gets her then I'll take it as a win
Volmalric: Did you see the kid there?
Feneril (Rhotinia): If only we had a giant killing machine with us
Tilpi: I saw nothing save a woman who fought as a demon would.
Volmalric: Yup, that would be Sophie
Volmalric: Or Cilissa?
Volmalric: Was that one woman or two?
Tilpi scratches the horse under the chin.
Tilpi: This one heard Rhotinia's call. I could do naught else.
Tilpi: Well...It was both of them, but Sophie seems nice.
Rhotinia: I still think our best hope is if we can find the tome and get to Rhiveth's tomb, but with Lefty dead I don't know where we might find it
Volmalric: Agreed
Tilpi: We must help Sophie!
Rhotinia: So unless anyone else has a better idea, I guess we are going into the breach
Rhotinia sighs and mounts her horse
Tilpi takes a hint and whistles up her own horsey.
Rhotinia: Democles, Bridgit, if we aren't back in 10 minutes we are probably dead.
Asgrim: I'm fine with whatever comes my way.
Volmalric looks at his pack mule and shrugs
Democles: I shall find a nice spot for both of us to hide.
Rhotinia spurs her horse onward back to the warehouse (hopefully behind a charging Asgrim)
Democles carries Bridgit off to a small stone culvert and hides them where the fires are not going. Democles, being a gentlemen, behaves in no untoward or lewd Hyborian-appropriate setting towards the defenseless woman.
Asgrim charges back in the direction that Rhotinia's horse came from.
Tilpi Offers Asgrim a ride to the other end of the warehouse
The group reaches the entrance to the warehouse just as Sophie flies out of it, hits the ground, rolls a few time, then springs back to her feet.
Sophie has one arm hanging loosely and clearly broken in a couple spots.
Rhotinia: Are we fighting or running?
Sophie looks back in the building.
Tilpi tumbles gracefully off her horse and immediately attempts to triage Sophie's wounds
Tilpi rolls an Acrobatics test:
Target: 8 Focus: 1 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.11+1d20.15 = 26]

Tilpi rolls a Healing test:
Target: 16 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 2 Momentum: 1 [1d20.15+1d20.9 = 24]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Sophie: Come on, I expect one of us to not walk away from this!
Kazemi (Volmalric): Any sign of the kid, undead, or town guards?

Tack:
[1d20.7 = 7]
Volmalric rolls an Observation test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.15+1d20.6 = 21]

Tilpi rolls a Lore test:
Target: 15 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.13+1d20.19 = 32]
You did succeed!
From a quick glance of the area, it looks like there are a dozen or more dead guards, probably members of the Inquisition at the entrance of the warehouse recently vacated by Tilpi and Rhotinia's horse. Sophie looks like she is not on the winning side of whatever fight is happening, based on the ugly blackish ichor/blood trailing from a bunch of glowing blue steel wounds, and the fire in the warehouse is getting slightly worse.
Rhotinia's pressing question of, "Fighting or Running" is the immediate concern pressing the group.
Rhotinia rolls an Observation test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.17+1d20.7 = 24]
You did succeed!
Volmalric rolls an Observation test:
Target: 9 Focus: 0 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 2 Successes: 0 Momentum: 0 [1d20.19+1d20.20 = 39]
You did not succeed.
Tilpi rolls an Observation test:
Target: 11 Focus: 1 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.19+1d20.2 = 21]
You did succeed!
Cilissa is limping out of the warehouse, evidently suffering from a leg injury that is making her move quite slowly.
Volmalric catches up, a large black cannister in one hand
Rhotinia: Lady Cilissa, it was not my intent when I arrived to end up on the other side of your ire. Given current events, surely we can all agree that a city on fire and overrun with undead is not good for anyone. We could all stand here fighting to the death in this burning house, or we can try to put out the fires and then you and Sophie can go back to trying to kill each other after
Rhotinia used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool
Rhotinia rolls a Persuade test:
Target: 15 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 1 Successes: 3 Momentum: 2 [1d20.12+1d20.20 = 32]

Volmalric rolls an Alchemy test:
Target: 14 Focus: 4 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 3 Momentum: 2 [1d20.16+1d20.9 = 25]
You succeeded and generated momentum!
Volmalric lights the rope on the black cannister in his hand, hurling it towards where he knows Cilissa is
Cilissa: I agree, this is a waste of time and effort. Perhaps for tonight I can agree to let a lesser evil live just long enough to deal with the greater one.
Rhotinia: But you already killed Meltam. Or did you mean another lesser evil?
Rhotinia chuckles at her joke
Rhotinia rolls a Persuade test:
Target: 15 Focus: 3 Difficulty: 1 Complications: 0 Successes: 1 Momentum: 0 [1d20.13+1d20.17 = 30]
You did succeed!
Cilissa: I did not kill Meltam, Rhiveth did to break Thumocris' hold on his corporeal form and shatter the spirit of the Acheronian sorcerer. As long as we keep it from manifesting again, then Meltam will have successfully driven off an ancient evil at the cost of his own life. A brave death.
Volmalric's large explosive canister chooses this moment to sail through the air and explode right over Cilissa's head.
Tack (Tilpi): DIAMOND HANDS, TO VAHALLA. TO TENDIE TOWN!
Volmalric does damage with Loud Fireworks (Fearsome, Area):
Rolling 9d6 combat dice...
Total: 9 Effects: 3 [2d60.1+2d60.2+1d60.3+1d60.4+3d60.6 = 31]
Feneril (Rhotinia): :rocket: :moon:
Tack (Tilpi): It's Hyboria, where the women are hot, the men are super studs, and the body count is too damn high
The canister explodes, with an explosion that hits Cilissa, Asgrim, Tilpi, and Sophie.
Kazemi (Volmalric): Sophie noooo D:
Sophie gets knocked backwards and flops to the ground, gasping like a fish out of water.
Asgrim flies backwards from the explosion and grunts, but manages to rise to a standing and defenseive posture as smoke rises from his hair.
Asgrim: I thought Meltam was bad...
Rhotinia: Volmalric, you fool, we are negotiating a cease-fire
Cilissa is flung backwards into the warehouse and drops to the ground, then rises to her knees with a murderous look on her face.
Tilpi used a Fortune point to add a Natural 1 to their dice pool
Tilpi rolls a Healing test:
Target: 16 Focus: 2 Difficulty: 5 Complications: 0 Successes: 3 Momentum: 0 [1d20.19+1d20.8 = 27]
You did not succeed.
Volmalric: She killed every guard under her command the first time we met, I'm not in a mood to be part of that

Tack:
[1d20.19 = 19]
Tilpi panics, never having considered the difficulty of treating her own wounds with blood-slicked hands.
Rhotinia: In that case I hope you have a lot more explosive
Volmalric hurries over to help Sophie up and gauge her wounds
Volmalric: Yes, I've got two more, though apparently I need more distance
Cilissa twitches and her head is bent into a position that is humanly impossible. She grabs her head with her hands and snaps her neck back into place like a Terminator putting its head back on. Then she runs forward, building up a full head of steam to cut Volmalric's head off as she pulls out a pair of short swords from scabbards at her waist.
Tilpi glares 'you thoughtless callous asshole' at Volmalric
Sophie rises to her feet and swings her shattered arm around to clothesline Cilissa as she barrels past her.
Cilissa flings one of her swords at both of them as she pirouttes through the air, but then lands on her damaged leg and crumples to the ground.

Volmalric: She's one of --- **CLANG**
Cilissa's sword strikes Volmalric's helmet and it shatters as the blade smashes through it, leaving Volmalric dazed (for one round) and also with a large amount of blood pouring from what will soon turn into a fashionable scar across his forehead.
Cilissa's second sword buries itself into Sophie's chest and the young woman topples back over, gasping again and flopping around as her body starts to glow bluish.
Sophie (grunts): I will not die to the likes of you.
Volmalric: We'll be taking this
Sophie wrenches the sword free of her chest and spits out a huge glob of blood.
Asgrim decides it is time to "be a manly-man Nordheimer" and just bullrushes Cilissa and tackles her to the ground.

Asgrim and Cilissa fall into a tangle of limbs and bodies before she manages to push him free of her and he rolls away, ready to see what happens next.
Volmalric grab's Sophie's sword-arm, pulling her towards him
GM: Volmalric is Staggered, not Dazed, thanks for pointing that out.
Rhotinia: (POLL) Intimidate or Shootinate
Rhotinia draws two arrows and unleashes a volley at Cilissa
Volmalric: We gotta get you picked up
Volmalric: I mean patched up

Volmalric has a realization about how Sophie is still upright, and it causes him to freeze. Then he notices something very suspicious about Cilissa, and a sense of foreboding sweeps over him. He opens his mouth to say something when....
TUNE IN NEXT WEEK!
