Step 1:  Request fans make YouTube videos of them yelling, "For Leia" or "For the Princess" with a maximum duration of 5 seconds in their native language.

Step 2:  Relatively early in the movie, have the ship carrying Leia warp to a rendezvous point meeting with a bunch of Resistance forces (including Poe Dameron and a bunch of X-Wing pilots in fighters, etc.).  Poe hails the ship, but before there is a response a Star Destroyer arrives and blows up the ship carrying Leia.  Switch to Star Destroyer bridge, where an officer tells Hux, "The ship was destroyed" and Hux responds, "Let's see if that knocks the fight out of this resistance."  Poe and the Resistance forces become enraged (time for some cameos from Step 1) and blow up the Star Destroyer.

Step 3:  On some other planet, Rey and Finn are fleeing from some First Order forces when Rey suddenly stops.  Finn goes, "What's wrong?"  Rey responds, "Leia is gone."  Finn looks shocked, he grabs her arm, "Come on, we need to go."  Rey shrugs him off.  "No, the time for running is over."  She ignites her lightsaber, turns around, and walks out to where the First Order soldiers can see her.  She tells them, "It is time to give up the hatred, you can join us to make the galaxy a better place.  The time of the tyrant has ended and the desire for freedom is greater than any iron mailed fist of the Dark Side can hope to crush."

Step 4:  Throughout the rest of the movie, insert various montages of Resistance groups or other people fighting the First Order.  When things look bleak and hopeless, there is a cry (insert cameo from Step 1) and then the tide turns against the First Order.

Anyway, nothing will ever come of this, but you know, it's the thought that counts.

Have you ever stared at a blank page on your blog and gone, "I need to write something, but I have no idea what?"  Today is that day.  My GenCon events are submitted.  I'm working on arranging hotels and an Exhibitor badge, and...there is not much else to say.  Although when I think about gaming and conventions, I realize there is something about it which is awesome.  While we might joke about "card-floppers" versus "dice-rollers" versus "LARPers" at the end of the day, at a game convention, everyone is there to have a good time.  (Well, the businesses in the dealer hall would like to make money, but that is a given.)  In any case, maybe the world would be a bit better off if we could all sit down and play a game or two in the afternoon.  It's like the amusing suggestion that was popular back in the 80s - "The world would be better if everyone took an afternoon nap."

The next time you are at your FLGS (or Coffee Shop) strike up a conversation with someone new.  It will not hurt.

As 2017 winds down, and in many ways this has not been a good year, take some time to relax and unwind with your favorite gaming activity.  No matter what it is, do something that will lower your stress, blood pressure, and just enjoy things.  Maybe try sandbox difficulty mode, or test out a new game on the easy difficulty level, or read a book, see a movie, watch TV, play boardgames with friends.  Whatever it is, take a couple days to recharge and we can only hope that 2018 brings about improvements that 2017 promised, but never materialized.

Happy New Year gamers!  We made it another year.  There were times that was a bit questionable, but here we go.  I am not bothering with New Year's Resolutions, they just prove I can't stick with anything unless it is something I am already doing...so I will instead just go play games, have fun, and hope the general downward trend of the world at least halts for a bit.  Or an alien invasion resolves the problem to the satisfaction of the Mice and Dolphins.

It has been a rough ending to a decent year, at least on the personal and gaming front.  But we are approaching the end and as I look back over where I was, to quote the under-appreciated Babylon 5, " It was the year everything changed."  And I think that applies to almost everything in my life.  Take a moment to go back and reflect and prepare for what will hopefully be better times ahead.
